Sorry guys there are no manatees in Thailand.

There are Dugongs and they are not the same.

A manatee has a tail like a spoon but a dugong has a tail like a fish.

Dugongs have been seen around Ao Nang occasionally and one was washed up dead last year in Krabi.

Centara Grand is only accessible by boat so unless the weather is good for the shuttle boats you are stuck in the resort.

Has anyone actually done this and what is the process ?

Railey beach is about 45 mins from the pier in Krabi town or about 15 mins from Ao Nang.

I don't know much about the Krabi town crossing but from Ao Nang the long tails run about every 20-30 minutes or as soon as they have 8 customers. The same for the return trip.

Don't be tempted to buy a return ticket as unless you find the same long tail no one else will honour it and the ticket office closes in the mid afternoon.

It was only Ao Nang not the whole of Krabi. They need ed to replace/repair some electric poles near the SCB bank.

Krabi FCs stadium is about 25 km from the nearest beach which is in Ao Nang.

Most of the visiting teams players stay in Ao Nang.

But not sure that fixture will be a very friendly match after the cheating at the away match in Chiang Mai. The same referee from that game had a very hostile reception at last Wednesdays match. He was actually escorted on and off the pitch by 4 soldiers.

Went this morning for my 90 day report.

I arrived at 830 just as they were opening. There was nobody waiting so straight to the front of the queue.

Very helpful lady that took my paperwork spent 1 minute on the computer then handed the paperwork to the lady sat next to her. Another 1 minute and I was handed everything back and on my way with a smile.

Literally just 2 minutes from start to finish, excellent service !

Ao Nang is great for your shopping needs but you would struggle to find a sea view for anywhere near those prices.

On Friday they demanded to see my onward ticket from SUV. Copied down details of flight number, booking number and the airline.

The FREE shuttle bus from Don Muang to Swampy is only available if you have a valid ticket from the other airport ie it is only for transiting passengers not for anybody.

Last month for my 77 year old mother both arriving at BKK and departure.

Picked her up from the plane, electric cart, through fast track immigration, helped her with baggage and took her to taxi rank.

Departure picked her from kerbside, via check in and immigration and took her to the gate.

Outstanding.

Tiger temple is nice but a lot of steps to get to the top about 1200, also watch out for the monkeys they will steal anything !

Scuba diving is great around the local islands and Phi Phi.

If you contact any scuba diving shop (there are a few in Bangkok) they all teach first aid courses.

They are not diving specific and the participant materials are rather good.

Last year songkran was just 1 day in Ao Nang.

You can get nice hotel or guest house accommodation for 1000-1500 per night.

There is a go kart track just outside Krabi on the road to Ao Nang. Probably a bit expensive but maybe for a treat.

Tiger temple in Krabi is worth a visit and a trek up to the Buddha's on the hill above will tire out the most energetic child.
