However, Thailand has one HUGE flaw in its system which needs to be corrected immediately; the people who manage the health care scheme (the Bureaucrats) have their own, special scheme to cover themselves and their families.
Would have thought nobody paying into or collecting taxes for it would be a bigger flaw.

The driver faces a 5,000 baht fine for offending public morals.
I would think naming and shaming him for doing it with a 'ladyboy' in the back should be enough of a sentence.

Four Western rights groups - Human Rights Watch, Amnesty International, the Committee to Protect Journalists and Reporters Without Borders - urged Turkey to ask the United Nations to investigate Khashoggi's disappearance.
LOL, thought these groups always complained about Turkey abusing human rights.

They will actually serve no more than 50 years behind bars, the maximum penalty for their crimes.
50 years in a Thai prison hopefully will seem like 300 odd

Police said they will gather more information before deciding whether to press charges against the truck driver.
Unfortunatey due to corrupution, when I read the words 'gather more information' I tend to wonder if that is about the incident or something else

Whilst have no issues with racial profiling if a certain people committ more crime per percentage than other races - i.e. stopping and searching young black men in London currently - I believe that every person should be given the opportunity to address an issue before arrest. If this man says his passport was in his room, he should be walked to the hotel and the passport should be found - Or not as may or may not be the case. Then he should be arrested.

old - but apt.
A devout Salafist Muslim enters a cab in London.
He asked the cab driver to turn off the radio because as decreed by his religious teaching he must not listen to music because in the time of the prophet there was no Western style music or radios. The cab driver turned off the radio, stopped the cab and opened the door. The Salafist asked him "What are you doing?" The cabbie answered, "in the time of the prophet there were no taxis either, so piss off and wait for a camel."

Please excuse my ignorance, but what is a "search ticket"?
Paperwork you'll be given
You should be offered a written record of the stop and search or a receipt at the time of the event, or very occasionally you may be told where to collect the record later.
If you wish to complain either about being stopped or searched or the way it was carried out, this record/receipt will help identify the circumstances.
The search record must contain the following information:
- the officer's details
- date, time and place of the stop and search
- reason for the stop and search
- outcome of the stop and search
- your self-defined ethnicity
- vehicle registration number (if relevant)
- what the officer was looking for and anything they found
- your name or a description if you refuse to give your name

Dr Songkran Maichum said today that local officials have recently administered over 5,000 doses of measles vaccine, with no shortage in sight.
Yes, but did they get it from the same company as the rabies shots that turned out to be rubbish ?
