  1. There is one rule that any ATM user must adhere to so as to minimise "Skimming". For the hundreth time please note:- "Cover the key pad when entering your PIN number" (

    (Edit spelling)

    Good suggestion , take every precaution these days. The hackiverse is getting more and more sophisticated in their ability to track and use pins , etc. No doubt there is someone spying on probably the majority of BKK ( and other ) ATM keypads with powerful equipment.

  2. Eat at the Basil in the Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit and then head to the Living Room , adjacent to it , afterwards for drinks and maybe some jazz. Randy Cannon's pretty good, he's usually playing. Then walk across the sky train walkway that leads out of the hotel and come down by the corner of Asoke and Sukhumvit. You're then close to the entrance to Soi Cowboy. Take a stroll through there just for the visual extravaganza that it is. From there, grab a taxi and head to the bar at the Grand Erawan. It's somewhere down near Chit Lom. The possibilities are endless.

  3. Report from Cebu:

    9.00 am visibility 300-500 meters.

    9.30 am lost electricity, lucky to have generator.

    10.00 am lost TV signal.

    10.30 am very strong wind gusts now. Visibility 100-200 meters only.

  4. Please keep the "no have" though - I love it when Thais say this.

    It is cute and they use it for everything.

    Also "can" and "cannot"

    "Would you like to go to dinner now , Toy?"

    Answer= "can"

    "There are supposed to be some ghosts ( pi ) inside that Temple House , Nok. Want to go in and look around?"

    Answer= "cannot"

    Also "power" and "shuwah" , which is how "sure" is pronounced.

    Toy : "Hab power now you , we can go to loom?"

    Me: Uh, OK. Do you want me to buy some pawk and rye ( for rice ) with fish sauce and some dink to take to the Loom?

    Toy: Shuwah Ka.

  5. Let's show a little respect for the deceased and their families.

    I have been on lots of these ferries and I'm afraid to say they are all the same. Over crowded.

    More people per journey equals more money, and as we know, money pays bills but safety doesn't. It's awful but that's the way it works here. Still sad to read about it every day. Worst thing is that nothing will change.

    RIP to everyone who lost their lives, wherever they come from.

    Sent from my GT-I9305 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

    I completely agree Andy. Well-stated.

  6. Why do men get addicted to Thailand?

    Women and Booze

    You said it all right there. 99 times out 100 , those are the reasons. And both of them will sink your ship a great deal of the time , before all is said and done. I've certainly partaken of both. Have since stopped drinking and cut back on women chasing in the Kingdom. This has been very very very difficult. I miss having several cold ones 3 or 4 times a week in the worst way and my affinity for pretty Asians will never leave me.

  7. Condescending and holier-than-thou response to my post , in fact , offensive. You have just proven why genuine friendship is hard to come by. Because there are with personalities as yourself propping themselves up as know-it-alls on message boards

    and probably out making the world a worse place to live , rather than a better one.

    It's probably much harder to make friends if you take offence so easily.

    Lighten up a bit, and live a happier life.

    When you quote me , be sure and quote the entire thread , including your post that preceded it.

    Your general tone , from your replies to my post and other posts that I have seen you reply to in this topic , is talking down to people.

    Everyone I know and have ever known finds that personality trait to be among the most abrasive.

    Please don't offer any further advice to others about the topic of friendship , it is not one of your strengths.
