  1. "Seven electricity chargers will be made available for testing. Chargers will be set up in Bangkok, Chon Buri, Rayong and Ayutthaya. PTT and the Metropolitan Electricity Authority have been working on developing chargers for four years to prepare for a future EV launch."

Really serious approach to push the electric cars acceptance. 7 Chargers? Are there some digits missing?

    70? 700? 7,000?

Can't you read? They said Thailand would be a HUB for electric vehicles. Can't have just 1, gotta have 7! Otherwise it's not a hub!

On a more serious note. 7 charges. 3 are broken and don't work. 2 more are not connected to electricity, 1 can't be found because of incorrect directions and the last one is temporarily out of service because the guy doesn't know how to operate it.

  2. The money only has to be in the bank for 2 months to apply for an extension based upon marriage.

You can still get a multiple entry non-o visa based upon marriage in Savannakhet with no financial proof needed.

I had it in there for 2 1/2 months last year and they made a huge deal out of it, saying I needed it in there for 3 months when renewing. 2 months only applied when you did the visa the first time. They sent me back home and told me to come back after it was there for 3 months. Even spoke with 4 different counters at Chang Wattana immigration, they all said the same. Not sure if they changed it again, but that was my experience a year ago.

Anyways, thanks a lot for the answer. I'll head to Savannakhet soon then :)

  3. My 1-year visa extension for marriage is expiring in 2 months and I was wondering if those multiple entry visas in Savannakhet are still available? The reason is because I can't afford to have the 400k locked in a bank account for 3 months because we just had a baby 7 months ago and there's so much to pay. I'd rather go back to the multiple entry marriage visa for this time and then do the 1-year extension next year again.

  4. I need a letter to certify my income (40,000 Baht + per month) for a marriage visa. According to Thai Immigration, I need the Swiss Embassy to certify the income. When I contacted them, they said "we cannot issue an income certificate because we cannot confirm that you really have this income", even with bank statements and other evidence provided they said that it's not their job to go and try and confirm my income.

What they say they can do is have me translate the letter from my company, confirming the income, into Thai, and they will then "certify the translation".

So, in other words, they will confirm the translation is correct, but they will not state by themselves that they guarantee that I have this income.

Will this be enough for Thai Immigration?

  5. i did my visa application (marriage visa renewal) on monday and the officer told me she couldn't process the application because the money was in the bank for 2 months and 1 week, instead of 3 months. from the information that i was told here and also from the paper that i received at the immigration counter it clearly says that it needs to be in the bank for 2 months. i told her about this and she said that this information wasn't correct, it needed to be in the bank 3 months for renewal, 2 months only for the 1st application.

she said that i should come back when it's been in the bank for 3 months, but the problem is that my visa will have expired by then. what do i do now?

  6. Hello everyone :)

The renewal of my marriage visa to my Thai wife is coming up next month and I have some questions. I already have the 400,000 Baht in the bank under my name for the past 3+ months, but I'm wondering if there are any significant changes from last year's renewal process that I should be aware of? Or do I just bring the same documents (passport, tabien baan, etc) again?

And another thing ...my wife and I live at our apartment (free, owned by her sister who is not living in Thailand) but she is registered in her own tabien baan of a house that she owns that's nearby. She rents that house to someone. Is that a problem? It's in the same city (Bangkok), just in a different street. I remember reading something like she needed to bring the tabien baan of where we live to the Immigration and that the addresses need to match or something.

    Thank you :)
