I agree however, that has been the case in many other countries in the past. Take a look at the people of Hong Kong, getting the <deleted> beaten out of them....and coming back for more.....a different breed perhaps?

I was told by my doctor in Malaysia that a quick check for dengue was to run your fingers on the underside of your arm from the wrist to elbow. You should see light red marks on your arm from where your fingers impacted, but these should fade fairly quickly if all is well. If the marks persist it could be for a number of reasons including dengue. Sheryl may have a opinion on the effectiveness of this test.
As others advised get to a doctor/hospital ASAP. There was a young Japanese engineer in my apartment block in KL who died within 24 hours of a dengue confirmation.

Comments about not having the courage to go one on one always amaze me. Haven't you people ever been in a defence force? If an army/navy/airforce wants to win it goes in with superior numbers and preferably weapons as well. And there was no lack of balls in the Air Force I was a member of.

The flight plan submitted to the Pilots and ATC by the airline company operations section would have been to Edinburgh. The aircraft flight management system and the ATC system would have been programmed with this flight plan data. So its not a question that the flight crew and ATC were not aware where the aircraft was going.
The flight plan of course should have been to Dusseldorf - why the error occured has yet to be explained. The airline concerned flys services daily from London City Airport to both locations.
Its not the first time this has happened anywhere. A few years ago in Australia 2 jets of the same airline departed Sydney for Brisbane and Adelaide respectively but the Brisbane one had the Adelaide passengers and vice versa. It wasnt until one of the passengers on the flight going to Brisbane asked a FA why he could see the Pacific Ocean on the right instead of the Australian interior that the error was noticed and both aircraft then turned to their correct destinations.
Anyway the Edinburgh passengers would have no doubt that they were in the wrong place when they disembarked at when they tried to talk with the locals. Instead of easily understood German accented English they would have been totally confused by barely understandable Scottish accented English!
(PS although I am Australian my ancestors were from Scotland about 150 years ago - and they paid their fare!)

About 10 years ago I had one Viagra tablet for the first time and all that I got was a bad headache and a nose bleed. Very romantic!!! I have not bothered since. I find if you have a lady with whom you share a good personal relationship there is no need for additional chemical assistance.

Some years ago when the BKK airport was at Don Muang I was flying to Singapore with my then Thai GF and her cousin. We checked in at the Business class counter, but I was the only one given a boarding pass. When I asked why the check in girl said that the girls had to go through a "special" immigration queue before the boarding passes would be issued. My GF's cousin said this was normal for her and a THB 5000 payment would need to be made to the immigration officers to get OUT of Thailand. This was outrageous and I went with the 2 girls to this special queue to politely ask the reason why and asked to see the regulation. i was given a dirty look but we directed back to check in where all boarding passes were issued and we were all stamped out without payment. Maybe the airline check in staff were in on this too. I have not come across this at the new airport but immigration have a long track record of illegal demands for "tips". Incidentally no problems getting in and out of Singapore.

I'm not searching for a companion today.
Today was grocery shopping, topping off rabbit card, visiting a friend, trying to find a pair of cheap Crocs, getting a phone fixed, and all the usual bullshlurp of day-to-day living.
I will say that the Chinese tourists were like a herd of enraged beasts today at Siam. Pushing and shoving their way into the BTS. I taught them a lesson, because when they push into me, I spew sweat all over them. being fat and sweaty does have its advantages sometimes.
You wear crocs and you complain about other peoples feet!! Have you no shame? Crocodiles should mount a class action against humans for dragging their name into disrepute

Any bar girl will tell you never to cross a lady boy - who regardless of how they look are still males

I think that quality is better than quantity any day.
One of the best T shirts I ever saw was on an obviously very well endowed girl in Australia. It read "I wish these were brains!"

I sent a small amount in THB yesterday, rate was 23.3517. Westpac bank charge was AUD 10, BKK Bank fee was THB 250.
If you send in AUD, Westpac fee is AUD 20, not sure of the BKK bank rate and fee, which is why I always send in THB - at least I know the rate, and provided I transfer by 1400 AEST, its in the BKK Bank account by about 1600 Thai time.
The AUD fell against the USD last night, and the rate for sending THB has reduced to 23.228 today.

A few years ago I opened a savings account at the Bangkok Bank branch at Times Square in Sukhumvit. I was on a tourist visa at the time . All I needed were stamped certified copies of my passport ID page and visa page from the Australian Embassy. - cost 1500 bt. I was issued with a passbook and ATM card (not credit card). As others have pointed out different Bangkok Branches may have other procedures and requirements.

OK I am an Australian, and any beach on a top 20 list must have surf!! Manly Beach is included in the Trip Advisor list but I would rate it at about No 60 in Australia - there are much better ones. Two other attributes that a beach should have is real sand and air and water temperature suitable for taking most of your clothes off - Bournemouth???? If fact there are beautiful to look at and good to swim beaches in almost all countries in the world including Thailand.

A lot of bar girls will be green with envy when they see all of these watches. I don't think he would have sold HIS body to get the watches - but what did he sell???

For many years I went through the green lane unchallenged with 4 bottles of red wine in my case - illegal I admit. Of course about 5 years ago my case was x-rayed and the rather attractive young customs lady pulled me up, advised me that I was over the alcohol limit, but said I could keep two bottles. So I kept the best two and as she took the other two I asked her what would happen to these. Destroyed was her response but gave me a big smile when I suggested she drink the wine as it was a very high quality gold medal winning drop. So who knows what happened to the wine but I would have enjoyed sharing it with her. My case has never been examined again.

Most of the negative comments about Thai girls on Thai Visa are from men who have made a mistake in relationships and don't admit this even to themselves. So they blame someone else who is the girl in this case - ego defence 101.
My recommendation is to meet her and her family, and if you get on with them and her wait for a few years - don't rush in to marriage until you are about 90% sure about it. Use your good judgement. I waited 10 years to get married to my Thai wife as she was so young when we first met and I wanted to be sure about her and me - I had one failed marriage (my fault) and did not want to have another one.
But while you are thinking of yourself please be equally concerned for her. You may look like emotional and financial salvation to her and she may not have had a real loving relationship with a man before. So don't break her heart and if you do not wish to continue with her break it off as soon as you know this - don't drag it out.

European statistics show that whilst 54% of males who commit suicide hang themselves, only 35% of females do so. The method most used by females is by taking a drug overdose usually sleeping pills. So whilst its possible that this poor woman may have committed suicide by hanging it is unlikely and it looks like we may never know the cause of death for sure. This becomes more upsetting for her family every day and I send my support to them - my 18 year old son was killed in an accident many years ago so I know a little of how they feel - but loosing a daughter in these circumstances must be far worse.
RIP young lady.

I replaced a useless guard with a savage looking dog which was loyal and protective of the house, family and maid. But you need a secure compound to stop the dog from getting out! 2 dogs are probably better as they have company when you are not there and will protect each other too.

The artificial smell added to Propane gas which has no smell at all, is almost identical to that of Durian.
Many airports have a sign, prohibiting the carriage of durian.
In Indonesia, they sell durian flavoured ice-cream. No accounting for taste!
When I lived in Malaysia many years ago my sons loved durian flavoured ice cream - not me! One of the guys from our office whent on a 1 week trip leaving his car at the airport outside in the Malaysian sun with half eaten durians in the boot/trunk. With great courage he drove it home where his Chinese amah fixed the smell by putting pandan leaves in the boot overnight - all was OK by the morning.

In case you don't believe what clear air turbulence can do take a look at this B-52 which lost most of its vertical stabiliser (fin) and rudder when flying in clear air turbulence in the lee of the Rocky mountains. They landed OK. Boeing build 'em tough. Not too many high mountains to the north west of Bangkok, but flying in clear air near thunderstorms can sometimes produce similar conditions.
As Aeroflot was 40 minutes from BKK there were probably passengers standing in toilet queues. As others have pointed out ALWAYS keep your seat belt fastened unless its essential to move round and minimise the time out of your seat.
