  1. I felt it.

By the feel of it I could tell it was big. And then remembering that thailand is not in an earthquake zone I knew it had to be massive.

It is indeed massive. it occured in North Sumatra out to sea. We felt it in Northern Thailand!! That was one of the 10 biggest recorded earthquakes since 1900. A tidal wave hit sri lanka afterwards it was so big and 10 people were killed in flash flooding.

There are still large secondary quakes happening now over there but we cant feel them.

it was 8.5 on the richter scale. :o

  2. I had a late lunch at blue diamond today.

IT was fantastic! I had the khao soi. It was very good. ANd one of those lovely light wholewheat buns they make as a tofu advocado sandwich. Excellent with mustard. And then two great treats and surprises!!

    :D

Vegan ice cream and vegan cookies. Next time i will mash them together!

ANd the coffee was top quality too.

    WHat an amazing place.

Keep telling me where to go. I will eat everything in my path!!

    :o

  4. I want to get a mobile and dont know the system in thailand

I will be in chiang mai about 6 months.

I will probably use the phone as follows

lots of text messages, many to outside of thailand

daily use wouldnt be high, an occasional call to someone in chiang mai.

i would make an international maybe once a week or two weeks

ALso if you have suggestions on where to get a good used handset that would be useful

SOmebody said d sat was a good company because of the cheap international rates...

I dont know if coverage by companies in chiang mai is an issue.

What about just buying a card and doing pay as i go.

Any tips on phones really... :D

If someone wants to set up a poll on this regarding the competing companies, cool! I dont know their names so its up to you :o
