The excuse: to catch criminals is getting old. Of course a true criminal would give them the correct information....

Two main problems. Guns are easily available, as are other weapons. There is no intervention program where kids get re educated in a boot camp until and after they've been convicted of a crime. Happen to know some parents with kids out of control, they want them to face punishment but don't know where to turn.
Forget the silly remarks about Buddhism. The present day crusades in Iraq, Syria and Afghanistan would make this a non event. Just as the genocide of the Palestinians would make all Jews bad people? The topic is gangs, derailed kids and weapons.

Come on guys, April fools is way overdue!

Lost the plot. Time to move over for elections. Seriously. It was ok to stop the violence. Now just move over. Does he think ANYONE listens to his brainwashing daily speeches? All Thais I know findvit the perfect time to prepare dinner and wait for the next soap. Even the ones that were positive are fed up.

In Pattaya?! If this one sticks half of Pattaya will be picked up soon...

Over the top topic. Yeah it's silly, not done, annoying. But guess we were all born naked. Moving on...

It's all about the ongoing slash and burn, no trees planting and ill preparation. Digging water retainments early and using water in the dams wisely would've helped.
Songkran, whatever you think of it, depends on where it's happening. In Chiang Mai the focus is around the moat, that's where the water is pumped up from and flows back into. One of the many reasons I won't indulge. It's enjoyed as much by Thai as -mainly visiting- foreigners.

Send us more Chinese tourists, the last ones were delicious....

Lots of stuff wrong, lots of stuff great with this country. If the negatives outweigh the positives you can always opt out. You could also consider moving, within the country, it is rather large to generalize.

Yep, after he's decided to start charging entrance fees for foreigners, the Chinese are welcome. This ugly empty shell of a fake temple with his staff herding people through like sheep should be avoided.
There are lots of nice, young Chinese. The trouble is these package tours. They use Chinese owned busses, Chinese owned hotels and resorts and Chinese tour guides, eat at Chinese owned restaurants, being kept well away of anywhere they can spend money. NOT a nice addition to Thailand. Awfully noisy when they arrive anywhere.
The young smart, educated couples are a relief.

Hope justice will prevail and also some kind of system put in place to prevent this from happening again. Somehow...

Incredible superstition of these kind of items as well as mor doo and the likes, which Lord Buddha tried to stop. Wish these people would read up a bit more. Ancient backward ideas.

Whatever... First off: there's rice now that can grow without the huge water drain. Second: how much water do all these ridiculous golf courses use (with foreign grass types) Third: where will the water during songkran come from and go when in cities?

Those lucky, lucky Islanders!

In 35 years here there are ponds, rivers and lakes I've never seen dry, now they are. Groundwater levels have subsided 2 1/2 meters! That's an incredible decline.

He's NOT spot on, quite a few differences with Myanmar. The new constitution and election laws are meant to prevent future chaos. Meanwhile the military IS hanging on way too long and should let society get back in control. After that the people can make any change they want. There is after all no quotum for seats reserved in government as is in Myanmar right now.

Violence is never a solution. It only adds to the problems. Very sad for the kid in each and every way.

No need to scare away even more tourists. Chiang Mai nightlife is dead. All bars must close at 23.45 already 6 months. We'll never see these people back. Even surrounding Muslim countries are more free. Bars and restaurants are closing every day. Carry on!
-
Hope every reasonable tourist can resist the urge to bring passports and credit cards into a nightclub.
Ministry of silly laws at work here.
-
Private home owners and smaller rooms for rent places won't or their revenue needs to be taxed.
I agree people shouldn't over stay. I DO think these new laws are over doing it a bit. IMHO.

Guess it means that most injuries are not reported anymore, it's so common.

Quite an extensive bill for 2 female teachers. Maybe they indulged in a few drinks from the furry cup. Violence is never ok but I'm sure that with the kind of high class tourists they get there, they've heard it all.

Seem lai eggelent idea, same him act lai foreigner... ;-)

Always the same nothing changes. Just like many other cases, even if you pass on evidence, it's never tracked or traced, because it doesn't fit the preferred outcome. But it's not only on the islands, it was the same with the Kirsty Jones murder in Chiang Mai. There it was a cop. Business as usual...
