  1. Hi,

I've ran into an unfortunate situation. My ED visa expired on October 25th but i got my wallet stolen on 23th so didn't had access to any money for the last 4 days (haven't eat a meal since then). Thanksfully to a relative, i've just received an amount and can go out of country to make my tourist visa and clear my overstay. I have a couple of question though:

    1. Since 25th was a Sunday, will they charge me this day for a 4-5 days overstay?

    2. Would it be better for me to go get an 7 days extension and clear my 1000 baths overstay now (or 500 depending on if they count sunday or not) which would cost me in total (1900 x 2 (7 days extension + tourist visa) + 1000 baths overstay = 4800 baths) or just overstay 2 more days then go out country and pay 2000 baths fine and then make my tourist visa in Laos (which would be 3900 so i would save 900 baths). I mean in terms of money it's better to select the second option but could this affect my tourist visa request once in Laos?

    3. How much is a single/double tourist visa entry in Laos? Do they even make double in Cambodia? If not, what is the alternative i can have if i decide to go Cambodia?.

    4. Once i get my tourist visa, can i just come back by bus or is it necessary to go back by plane? (If i'm in Vientiane for example)T

    Thanks you.

  2. Thanks you Joe.

Is there a better place to do it between Cambodia - Laos? Or both are the same?

Also what is the difference between a single and 2 entry? And what are the cost? (i guess from past experience a single is valid 90 days and is 1,900 baths?)

    Thanks

2 entry tourist visas are not issued in Cambodia.

Cost of a tourist visa is 1000 Bht per entry.

A 2 entry visa allows 2 entries to Thailand each entry giving 60 days which can be extended by 30 days at an immigration office.

After 60+30 days you must leave, enter another country and then return to activate the 2nd entry.

Both entries must be made before the "enter before" date clearly marked on the visa.

Thanks for making it clearer for me to understand.

So it's basically 90 days for each entry so this would be approximatively 6 months for the 2 entry visa, right?

What is the cost of 30 days extension after each 60 days?

    Thanks

  3. In all seriousness there should be some kind of 911 number for those who are so depressed and thinking of taking their own life. This is not a joking matter. It seems suicides happen every two weeks in Pattaya-- we all know the reasons: financial; broken heart; poor health; aging... Most "farangs" come here alone so there is no support system of family or even true friends to get emotional support, whereas back in our home countries we not only have family or friends but professional counselors that can re-direct our moments of depression. (If I my profession was in psychology this would be a great place to retire and open up a part time office.)

There is. When my friend and uncle died 2 months ago i went to hospital because i had a panic attack with arhytmia (bunch of pvc/pac) along with sinus tachycardia and was freaking out. I told the doctor what was going on and he gave me a hot line number for people with psychologic problems. I lost it though... but i know for sure they have one

  4. Hey all,

I'm a 27 years old guy from Canada. I've been living in Thailand for around 3 years. I recently broke up with my boyfriend (we were together for 2 years) and i must admit that time is a little hard right now. I will be in Bangkok and Pattaya next month for a 3 weeks vacation and would like to meet and talk with new people! If you guys have any suggestions on where can i go to meet new people or if there's anyone here that would like to go out for a beer or a meal, let me know

    Thanks!

  5. That girl was a friend of mine. I've met her in Bangkok in 2010 when she was girlfriend of my best friend. She was one of the most genuinely kind person i have ever come across. Everytime i felt down she was always there for me to help and give me advices. I feel very bad for her best friend that went with her on that trip and was with her in the ambulance when she died in her arms. This is a terrible tragedy... words can't explain the sadness i have right now. She contacted me in April for Songkran since she was there for a trip and wanted to see me but i couldn't go to see her because i had to save money and work. We also spoke again a week ago about what we would do the next time we meet. I'm literally crying my heart out right now and bought your favorite beer. Tommorow gonna go temple and pray for you and your friends.

    Rest in peace Chayanan Surin.

    The good die young indeed..

  6. Nothing to laugh about.
I feel bad for the guy and i hope he can get his shit together and realize that killing yourself over a girl isn't worth it.
Some people are more sensible and make it a bigger problem than it really is. I just hope he can get the help he need.
I like how some of y'all are laughing at the guy yet i'm ready to bet some money that you're actually in a relationship with an ex bar girl too (let's be honest, you probably met your girl there.)

I'll never understand why some people here feel the need to talk about themselves and try to kick some b.s knowledges like we asked about their lifes. Maybe insecurity? lack of self-confidence?

  7. I'm actually on an ED visa but got an offer to work in a school near and i'm really interested in taking it. But i was wondering if it's possible to have both an ED & work permit visa? My plan would be to go to my school as usual twice a week (2 hours per day) and work 5 days a week.

What do i need to do? is this even possible?

    thanks

  8. Sadly, in a country like Thailand where the law enforcement is variable at best, it seems to attract some people who can thrive and exploit this environment. This character seems to be such a person, blatantly disregarding the cultural norms, disrespectful of the fact that it is a privilege to be allowed to live in a foreign land, contributing nothing positive whatsoever. He and his type, whether tourists or residents, do other farang no service at all. I'm not jumping to the defense of the RTP as the facts of this case are unknown, but it looks like Tim is the author of his own demise and we'd all be better off without him here.

People like you makes me so mad.

First do you know the guy or you're just making assumptions based on how Tim Ward looks like? by reading your text, i can see that you clearly don't know the guy.

First of all, who the f are you to say that this guy is <contributing nothing positive> ?

The guy feed soi dogs everyday, give money to poor childrens and bought a lot of stuffs for the locals in Pattaya during the last years. Just that is probably more than what you're doing at the moment. How about you go outside and do the same instead of making assumptions based on your imagination?

Stop judging a book by his cover, it makes you look like a total dumb.

And by the way, the guy doesn't pimp girls. He basically offer protection to whoever wants, he don't force nobody for nothing.

And big lol at those that think he's gonna get gun down tomorrow. With the kind of money he has (just his house alone in Australia is worth around 3.5m USD) and that he's spending here in Thailand, they don't want to deport him, he's big money for the country. And he is very well connected.

  9. This is not a Thailand thing.

It is. It happened in Thailand and a reason for getting knifed can be as trivial as looking a Thai male in the eye.

Notice how the police got their well-we-checked-everyone-for-weapons bit in?

Trying to look smart, don't you?

You exactly know what i meant (or you try to pretend like you don't for some reason)

It amaze me to see so many people on here bashing thais 24/7 but yet they decide to live here and spend their money and contribute to this country economy.

If you would actually take time to get off the computer, meet with people outside (street vendors, normal civilians, whatever) and try to get to know them, speak with them you would definitly learn something. The problems with some of yall is you spend your days behind your computer reading news, newspapers, and all the negatives/bullshit stories and base your whole opinion on that.

I do think too that the majority of police for in Thailand is corrupted as f***, that there's definitly some problems that need to be fixed. But to just start bashing thai people for every thing that you see/read and calling them names really show what kind of individual you are.

Please go outside a little, get to know them, don't be afraid....

It's a known fact that all over the world you have fights in night club and people get stab, hurt over some drinks & stupidity. Stop trying to act like it only happens in Thailand.

    Seriously get a life.
