  1. I will assume the 'lady' is the one on the far right the other two are wolf males.

Good work by the BIB, i am surprised they can tell the difference between fake and real cops.

I dont even know what a real cop looks like in LOS.

Wolf males, like Omegas or Alphas..... I don't geddit.

  3. Here is a radical idea to those in power. Why don't you just write what you want and how you want in the constitution and that's it. Then that goes to the people and they can bang out what it is they want.

The repeated and clearly ineffective junta after elected dance doesn't appear to work well. So try something different just write it down, probably won't surprise anyone. Then perhaps the two sides might get somewhere.

  4. Wonder what technology is changing so quickly they cannot keep up. If a maker installs a line of presses or a paint shop, not exactly at any risk of tech leaving it behind any time ever. Suspicions to what they may of meant lean towards materials, or simply lack of a market for the cost of tooling.

Seriously if Thailand cannot find or does not have locally the actual tools necessary to make the equipment they wish to fight a war with, I'd hope they get Loads of extras and spares and hope alliances don't shift cutting them off.

Kinda lost focus on getting out of middle income category haven't they, and this is the army. Can't get to the hit the next level in their own local supply chain, failure to lead by example and develop industry capability and technology development. Seems like bottom line is they don't want to be next level as it isn't profitable. Oops

  5. All you need to do is note the alteration if it is any concern to you,, time date location officers name and stamp number of the officer that made the alteration and put that stapled on the page in question or better in the back with reference to the location.

It is likely to be torn out if it is on the active pages or entry stamps and to attract more screening everywhere, so if you must low key in the back, signed dated.

Unless it is easy to spot on a light table or under UV and lets be honest, how often have you had a stamp inspected like that anywhere, don't worry about it. Even if it stands out and isn't signed.

It is not material alteration, just make sure you are exit stamp has clear date.

  6. Whatever floats your boat. Gay marriage is nowhere close to being recognized here. The fact that you find ladyboys working the cosmetics at Robinsons while admirable doesn't stack up against actual legislation confirming the rights of gay people in the USA. Anyway the topic is weed and we should probably just go back to that.

Maybe we could have a poll made on if people think weed will be legalized in Thailand? That way we could see what the majority of people think and let it speak for itself. Can we get a poll mods? Obviously should it be legal and will it be legal are two different questions.

The point of the discussion is due to the recent reflection on the entire history and purpose of prohibition and weighing the costs, the risks without the propaganda and lack of data. Most alive today have only ever know the drug war and the propaganda of it, along with the association criminality and negative aspects receiving highlight.

It would seem that the war is a huge drag on society with the users of narcotics responsible for a victimless crime receiving life destroying persecution and custodial punishment. Now recognized by the UN to be in many countries in violation of their human rights.

So it may take a very long time to wind back in many places the war against personal choice and is a part of the much needed reduction of governments and their influence.

But you are welcome to feel that using laws to destroy peoples lives for consumption of drugs or possession of even a minute amount of those chemicals. You are on the wrong side of history on this one, we as humans don't tend to celebrate in hindsight the destruction of anyone even our enemies. And recognize madness when time separates us from the misinformation perpetuating it.

  7. The history of why marijuana and a whole lot of harder drugs are illegal in Thailand and many other countries is rooted in the US Department of Narcotics. Most people will have never heard of Harry Anslinger yet he had more influence over the general population of the world than almost any other person. His actions set up the drug cartels and the corruption surrounding the supply of all banned drugs.

Thailand and many other countries were threatened with being cut off from US foreign aid if they did not adopt US drug policy. Initially Thailand refused to ban opium smoking stating that it was a long standing tradition and less harmful than prohibition. Another tactic was to tell countries which didn't want to adopt US drug policy that they would not be allowed to sell their goods in the US.

I highly recommend you read Chasing the Scream, the first and last days of the war on drugs by Johann Hari. This book is well researched and a real eye opener as to the truth behind why a lot of drugs are banned in the world. I found this book a difficult read because the truth can sometimes be overwhelming.

Did you read that book? Cause he wasn't in any US Department of Narcotics, he was Treasury, either way, Johann Hari at this point is saved only for providing references, from being utterly ignored. Not that I doubt the accuracy if he repeats his prior mistake, I just don't feel like giving him cash or airtime, what a tard.

The book, it is at least a good read and I felt persuasive despite being far from comprehensive or balanced.

  8. Do they only consider the stamps from their office or all offices, cause I had look at the passport and he has the following

Continuous back to back Tourist Visa
    ------------------------------------------------------
    Penang Single Entry + Extension
    Savannakhet Double Entry + Extension

    Savannakhet Double Entry + Extension
    ------------------------------------------------------

None of the stamps are any different to the ones I've received from TRs.

So he should be good to go then, just need to decide if its back to Savannakhet, he'd prefer it, since he done it and knows the way.

Is there anything at all Deterministic about visas here, even for just go no go, its all very grey.

  9. Got a few questions here:

If you already have two back to back double entries from Savannakhet will he be able to apply for a double entry in Vientiane ?

What is the easiest way to get to the Vientiane consulate from BKK.

What places to stay do people recommend.

If someone has any experience first hand on the actual journey they could share that would be great.

  10. Timmy T, the blight that is the drug war will likely frame this period in history, and in highsight the judicially driven destruction of lives far in excess of the small percentage of uses that have problems will be considered insanity and a sign of how archaic it was in the past. The war on personal freedom aka the drug war will continue, and the only people that benifit from the massive amount of resources spent losing it, are the drug dealers and manufacturers.

Kinda sad for a crime that is categorized as a victimless crime the possession and consumption of drugs that is.

Lucky ignorance and the wars propaganda have equipped you to continue the insanity, the drug lords thank you for your efforts.

  11. I'm not following your post at all:

--I have an internal N wifi card already that doesn't, unfortunately, have any external antenna connectors.

--I also already have a separate USB Wifi N access stick from Linksys that currently has about a 1 meter USB cord attaching it to the PC .

Both of them already show both the AIS and True wifi hotspots in my neighborhood, but in the current configuration, only about at 1 bar... and not enough for any kind of stable connection.

What I'm indeed trying to identify and decide on is, as you put it, " the best antenna setup you chose." And that's what leads into the discussion about different types of antennas (dipole vs square box type) as well as the companion issue of what power dBi is going to be best for the purpose.

the internal card must have an antenna attached to it? Or is this on a laptop, as if that is the case attaching external antenna is a lot of work and the connectors are tiny and not robust for many cycles.

What antenna you choose comes down to this, are you able to locate the point at which you are trying to talk to, as in the access point. If you can do that it will certainly narrow down the options, I'll see if I can locate a usable radio transmitter database you can search for these base stations, I find them handy in trying to locate where they are actually installed if they are pole or cable network mounted. 7-11 and Familymart are good bets but I find those base stations tend to starve of bandwidth in the past however they may of improved.

  12. Right now, I've also got AIS and True wifi signals in my neighborhood, and I have accounts with them giving me access to their wifi. But, with my existing wifi receivers at home that have no external antennas at all, they only rate about 1 bar and not really strong enough to connect to and use on those occasions where my True Online service goes out. My home has some view access up the soi to where the wifi transmitters are, but it's not quite unobstructed.

So ideally, I'd be looking for some kind of USB plug unit that I could attach to my PCs and mount inside the house or on an interior window (though I guess I could also hang outside, if that would help) that would do a better job of picking up the local ISP wifi signals. Anyone got a recommendation on a unit that would serve that purpose???

So, now that we've had these scientific discussions, anyone want to hazard a reasonable recommendation on what general area of dBi value I ought to be looking for in a new wifi antenna to best accomplish the intended purpose above?

PS - For this particular purpose, I'd ONLY need this wifi to be able to pick up the local True and/or AIS wifi signals in the event of an emergency (as in True's cable wifi to my house periodically going down). The PC I'd be connecting this wifi antenna to normally is served by True internet via ethernet, and doesn't rely on wifi for its normal connection.

You do not want to judge antenna based on its dBi figure this comparing their antenna against an isotropic reference antenna which which radiates from a single point. Rather than against the standard which is a half wave dipole antenna, which is actually what that db figure is measured against.

So ignore dbi figures they are totally fallacy and cannot be converted to anything believable or useful.

Best thing to buy is a wifi bridge/Access Point / Router that has external antennas or external antenna connectors. Then you set it up in the best location to talk to the wife outside with the best antenna setup you chose, Then you connect that to your existing home network.

This is my experience in thailand with wifi, don't waste your time with USB based external devices, they are inconsistent and hit or miss.

Some tp link gear has good software and plugs so you can play around with getting the best connection.

If you have a internet gateway that supports multiple internet connections you can even automatically setup failover to the wifi.

    EDIT:

alternatively go buy an internal wifi card for your PC a decent one, with connections for an antenna. buy some cable and an antenna, and just that out to the windows, painless really.

  13. @Richcor

    snip quotes here sorry:

"Dipole antennas receive and send electromagnetic energy in a close-to 360° x 360°. Dipoles are great for an Access Point that serves multiple client devices whose relative positions are unknown, and great for portable devices that need to 'connect' while in any orientation."--@RichCor

That is not correct, Dipole antennas do not perform evenly accross H and E space and radiate more H plane and at 9db, you will find that reception outside of +-25 Degrees about 1.5ish meters of elevation from the antenna at 30 meters to be significantly lower as the been is radiating in circular pattern which is more toroidal in shape.

Which is fine for reception, but at 9db you may have difficulty in transmission within several meters of the antenna and more markedly if there is a large different in elevation even at normal power levels.

You honestly think the tip of the antenna can propagate to the air as much as the long side of a dipole antenna, the point were there is huge resistance to the transfer?

  14. Buy some decent ubiquiti gear, I'm otherwise note getting pulled into this topic

So we can assume your not a fan of WokFi antennas?

Are you serious? No I'm not a fan, commercial gear fortunately is going to perform a lot better and will be rather much more consistent in say the event you need two of anything.

  15. Can you post the plate numbers and the description please so that we might be able to help you. If he parked the bike with the steering lock on it may of been removed by the traffic police especially if it was on the road. Otherwise they aren't likely to remove it to an impound lot unless they absolutely have too.

Phayathai police station go there and lodge it as missing or suspected stolen, if they find it they will call you. It just a pity you don't know where exactly you left it cause it is either stolen or some nice person has moved it for you for some reason doing you a favour.

  16. snip

It is why we see voltages like 132,000 V or more on grid power transmission lines often high up on pylons, as a lot of power can be transported with little current needed at these high voltage pressures, so thus the cables can be relatively small gauge for such a massive electrical transmission need. But that high voltage is massive pressure and thus very dangerous and why pylons are so high and usually protected from idiots getting killed. What they want to avoid is lost power in high currents heating the transmission cabling thus higher voltage is used to be more efficient for grid transmission of power.

Well that is half the story, hence why transmission at higher powers is even more effective beyond 66kV especially with coreless bundled transmission lines. No point wasting all that metal in the cable when it is simply not conducting at all, so multi conductor bundles do a fine job and that is the reason small gauge cabling is possible. This maintains good field stability and cost effectiveness by not wasting money on useless metal and the thermal effects that deadweight causes.

However that really doesn't mean the gauge is smaller really, since they are a strand in the bundle.

  17. Amazing that Thais just don't understand water(piss) and electricity just don't mix. RIP

To be accurate, relatively pure water such as rain is a very poor conductor. I have connected a tester on a fibreglass rod onto a live 500,000V line in pouring rain (a constant stream down the rod and falling from my elbows) without even a tingle. OTOH many failures occur when a long dry/dusty spell is followed by fog/mist/very light rain.

A nurse g/f told me about a retarded patient who used to piss on power outlets intentionally. The difference being that the protection would operate before he was seriously injured/killed.

A mortician friend told me about a retard who:

connected a tester on a fibreglass rod onto a live 500,000V line in pouring rain (a constant stream down the rod and falling from my elbows).

    Where was this 500kV line?

If you have the physical clearance, hot sticking with 500KV is not out of the question. And to be clear, there isn't too many tasks you could complete on equipment at this voltage except placing testing equipment or ancillary fittings. . Not sure I'd take a run at in the wet, a stick long enough to offset the rain, I'd not be able to see it clearly or stab it first go, might knock a few other places first, and i'm gonna pass on the standing under or close to under it too.

  18. At what point did you decide to not say anything serious and just be a d***?

Whenever this is brought up its always good for a huge laugh. Usually, its frustrated teachers who 20-40 years ago would have been failing themselves. Thus may not be the op, jus sayin...

In the US many, many students are passed thru levels who go on to graduate and are functional illiterates. Why not here? Judging by the genius UK teachers I've taught with only one graduated university, that's about 7%.

So why the stress bro? Education isn't really important to you either.

Further, how, where is this third world education system going to provide remedial services and whose paying? No one ever brings up this gem.

Moreover, I hate blaming the system, I won't, but here I cut some slack. These kids have poor teachers, crap books, one hundred white faces, Filipino and N English accects, 40C heat in the class, poverty, family issues, peer pressures...and you want to shitcan their grade because they did not do X and Y in your class. Hope you have a ton of professional experience to make that assessment. Your tests and teaching, etc...not saying here it was you but maybe in part it was. First year teachers Im lookjng so hard at you. The tefl flunkies.

Why NOT give them the minimum grade I mean you're not a real teacher? You never had a lick of interest in teaching until now. This is just some job that keeps you in Thailand. Pretty disingenuous really.

Thailand wants them to pass. Pass them fools,

Finally, the system allows you to enter a grade of 50%, how much more of a fail do you need to brand on these children dear "teachers"?
