Hmmm.....I don't overstay etc but all these latest moves against us "aliens" is starting to make me feel even less welcome than I usually do.....

Why unless you are an over stayer or criminal? Thailand has a perfect right to arrest and eject illegals and scum where ever they are from. Well done immigration and lets hope they all get blacklisted never to return. If you are over 50 can obey a few rules and can fill out a form Thailand is one of the easiest countries to stay in. Can never understand why over stayers get sympathy on here.

Sure, if you're OVER 50. It's not so easy for the rest of us that are under 50.

To be honest, i find it's a good thing to get rid off these trash. These guys are the reason why it becomes harder to get a visa.

I am English and I speak the correct English-how can England score below the USA and Australia-who both have corruptions of the English language?

But I agree about the fact that even university graduates in Thailand speak poor English(and Thai school teachers are worse).

The very fact you used the words "corruptions of the English language" shows how clueless you are about the language. The very nature of the English language is a corruption. Most words are from Latin, Greek, French, Dutch,Norse, etc. The whole language is a corruption. You speak no more a correct form than any other country. Do you really think English hasn't changed in England over the years? In fact, American English is less changed that England's English. American tends you used older/original words and pronunciations, while England has changed in the last 150 years. Most changed in England came from the upper class wanting to sound different from the lower class. So they mispronounced words on purpose to sound different. Over time, the lower class copied the upper class. So the mispronunciation became the normal pronunciation. In the 1800s England used to praise American in how unchanged its English was. The US still uses older words like gotten, Fall, Trash/Garbage while England has since stopped using them.

Also a lot of spellings have changed in England, but English people think Americans are the ones that changed. But, it's England that changed.Program is the spelling in the English language and has been for many years. Programme is the French spelling. English CHANGED to the French later. It's similar to the pronunciation of the word, schedule. The way Americans pronounce it (skedule) is the original pronunciation in English. English people have since switched to the French pronunciation of (shedule). The word is Greek in origin and has a strong SK sound, just like in the word school. Which is another Greek word. Again take the word color. English people always say, why did Americans drop the U. Well they didn't. Color is a Latin word and spelt as color in Latin. the U was ADDED to make it look French. As you can see, the English like to change things over to the French way. So my point is many things Americans do that you think is changed or wrong, is in fact the original way. So maybe next time you should educate yourself of the language YOU think you speak better than others.

I'm also no trying to say either are better or more correct. Everyone is correct within their region. The very nature of the English language is about change and adding new words and pronunciations. Most words were spelt differently before and the pronunciations were different too.

These people make no sense. How is it hurting their faith? No one is making them touch the pork or even enter the factory. So nothing is going against their faith. Ok the Quran says not to touch meat, well then don't go to the factory.

I just go to villa for western treats or harder to find items. Yes, it's crazy, but spending 200+ baht on Frito lay corn chips is a nice little pleasure.

Sad to say this, but no more Frito corn chips. I was at the villa yesterday and it's all changed around and no corn chips to be found. I looked everywhere in the store and never found any. I used to only go there for that item too.

I expect 9 out 10 Thai kids couldn't find America on a world map...if they even knew a world map existed vs just a map of Thailand which is their whole world.

I'm sure these numbers are the same in England, Scotland,France,etc. Note how it says "young" Americans. Most youth these days are stupid all over the world. It's not just America and would be stupid to think so.

This is a joke in so many ways. They don't really care about prostitution or human trafficking. You're not going to catch prostitution in these bar cause it mostly doesn't happen in the bar. Just the bar fine is in the bar, it's up to the "couple" after they leave what they will do. So unless a bar fine is illegal, this is useless. Looking for human trafficking is useless. Because Thailand is doing it out in the open and posting stories about it. The people in control of HT rings would have already heard about this and be gone. What's so amazing about Thailand, that means people have to be in Thailand and teach Chinese people here ? Are women in Thailand that much better than the ones in China ? A lot of those who have got a Thai girlfriend, well, the Thai girlfriend practically looks the same as the women from China.

Chinese girls are a lot more conservative. And Thai girls and Chinese look nothing alike. Sure some Thai girls have small eyes, but for the most part they don't look the same.

Erm "pants" is short for "underpants" - that are worn underneath trousers - as an American invention they were called "underpants" and not "undertrousers".

Nope, pants come from the word pantaloon. You are correct on the color-colour. I wish more English people would know this, cause I'm tired of hearing Americans changed it. When it's the Enlgish who are the one's that changed a lot of their spellings to the French way.

My understanding is a faucet is a noun, it's the item. while tap is the action of getting something from the source. But over time the action has also become the item too. Kinda like how name brands become the name of an item (bandaid).

I agree with the OP western religions have to provide something extra to hold the congregation together, i.e Schools for the Children,extracuricular events/activities , councelling services,etc their power base has been eroding for decades,who would now believe in Heaven and Hell ? only poor countries,and the uneducated,and believers in ridiculous doctrines.

Do you actually know anything about Japan? They are one of the least religious countries. Look it up.

And on a person to person level, they have done studies that show the more poor a person is the more they're religious.

Sorry to bring this thread back. But I have a friend on overstay (yes it actually is a friend and not me lol) He's on a 5 month overstay and wants to know how to fix it. There seems to be a lot of back and forth on this issue. I know he has to pay the 20,000 when he leaves at the airport, but can he do it at a border crossing like some said and they want you to have an out going flight. So does the flight have to be back home or can it be to another country like Laos or somewhere else in SE Asian?

He can leave the country at any border. It doesn't have to be an airport, but it is recommended especially in case of a very long overstay. The reason for the airport is a simple one, they will try to let you catch your airplane and don't hold you up to long if not necesarry. At a land border there is no time pressure, also there are les risks of being checked on the way to the border.

A ticket out is needed, not to your homecountry. Only when you are arrested and deported do you need a ticket out to your home country.

Why is almost everyone talking about OP doing this illegally? He clearly asked how to do this legally.

Probably try to come with that xxxx in Thailand and poison lots of people, good jugement hope they execut it that is what drug dealer deserve.

To everyone that keeps saying this, No I didn't come here to ask anyone for money. Read the whole post again. At no point did I ask for money from anyone here. All I said was, should I try to go and good ideas to get some money. I don't even know anyone here on this site, I'd never ask strangers for money like that. That's kinda why I said what about a kickstarter, people use that all the time.

With rent I live here in CM for less than 10,000 baht. I don't party or drink. So I live cheap.

I am not sure ur job back in the States nor your age but to be here for 2 more weeks with just 5000bht and I guess you need a way to the airport you really cut it short. If they pay you 30000-35000bht per month and you want to live here that to me is cutting it short also unless you live like a Thai.just my 2 cents

I don't party or drink. My rent here in CM is 5,000, electric 1,000 and food around 4,000. I normally spend less than 10,000 a month. So it's pretty easy for me.

Don't really know anyone to barrow it from. I have some good Thai friends here, but they don't make very much. Back not many people either. Just my mom and young brother.

I teach in Isaan. most schools here start on the 15th May and they pay you 2 weeks later, but that is usually only 2 weeks pay.

If you are good with writing and grammar, there are some ways to money online pretty quickly - google 'article writing' and you will see what I mean.
