  3. Hi

I extended my visa not so long time ago and will apply for Thai citizenship or PR in December....

Local immigration told me, that it would be very difficulty to apply/get Thai citizenship next year .
They told me that total quota for all countries together has been lowered to 50 persons.

They tell me that I should apply for PR instead..
(I already know that Immigration has nothing to do with citizenship....)

The local immigration is very nice and trust worthy but it was just before April 1... sooooooblink.png

    Anybody hear about this ???

(Or maybe just a misunderstanding in communication)

  4. I am just and expat living in Thailand for years and now want to apply for Thai citizenship and not lose my origin citizenship so I do not thin sec 21/22 comply to me.

But I am real happy about the feed back and it is very informative thumbsup.gif

I will just apply next year and if I get the citizenship... I will keep low profilewhistling.gif

Gaining Thai citizen status is a long, involved, and expensive process.

There are some excellent threads/topics on the subject which you should read.

    Thanx

  5. There is no requirement to have a work permit unless you are using the income from working to meet the 40k baht income requirement.

Were they aware you are working? If yes I suspect that is the reason they asked for it.

    I Know...

"Yes" - They know I am working.

They say that I need to document I earn money, since I have 400000+.

The officer is the same officer as last year and a very nice woman who speak

very good english and always are nice..

I know people here do not want to hear about good police officers, but they

    do exist biggrin.png

(P.s Officers in the immigration is actually police officers)

  6. Hi

I just extended my Non"O" visa based on marriage (~Marriage visa)

As always I document that I have 400000+ in the bank for min 2 month according to the rules.

But this year they further required a copy of my work permit to document I earn money......

(I have work permit so.... "mai bpen ray")

This this a new requirement or did I just apply on a bad day ??

I newer had to document work permit before, if i have 400000+ in bank...

  7. I can answer my question my self finally:

I ask my friend Who is a high ranking officer In royal Thai police in Bangkok to check for me.
I also ask immigration about this (Even thought they have nothing to do with Citizenship)

They both just come back and say :

    1. "No - Thailand do not accept dual citizen ship"...
    2. You have to cancel your old citizenship yourself and Thailand do not check..
    3. If you get cough with 2 passports you will have to choose which to keep.

I guess no 3. means that they know that people do not cancel origin citizenshipwink.png

    Now question is:

If I get caught at airport with 2 passport, am I then carrying a fake passport?? biggrin.png

  8. Hi

Next year I will apply for Thai Citizenship but.

At a party here I meet a Thai man who is married to an American Woman...
She tried to get Thai citizen ship but when it was granted she decided not to have it anyway.
The police told her that Thailand would not allow people to have 2 passports, so she had to give up her US citizenship, which she did not want.

He and I had not been drinking muchbiggrin.png
Have anybody ever heard something like this ?

(Maybe she got denied and just did not want to lose face) tongue.png

  9. Normally they want same day or within a day or two - weeks old is not likely to be accepted anywhere.

The credit card issue could effect the letter and cause questions but as long as account has held the required funds for the time needed would probably not be a serious issue.

Think I will just get a new statement...

    Cost very little :-)

I will ask immigration about the credit card issue and post their answer here.

My salery is higher than the minimum, but the paper work for the 400000 is much easier then the paperwork for salary....

    Thanks

  10. Hi

In 3 weeks I will extend my marriage visa.

I already have a bank statement stating that I have min. 400000 in the bank, but it is 2 weeks old.

    1) Do anybody know how "New" a Bank statement have to be since my Bank statement will be 5 weeks old when I apply for extension ?

    2) I have a credit card with a limit of 100000 Baht on the same account.
My account contain 480000 Baht but the Bank deduct the 100000 as security for the credit card,
I can still use 480000 since I do not use the credit card at all........but could this be a problem ?
