  1. You may find once she has exited the UK she may not be allowed back in.

Why must you always attack or mislead posters? Are you ill?

OP, your wife (like me) must have the schengen visa and her setttlemen visa (like my ILE visa) is all that is needed.

Just fill the form and photo, send your passport and copy, her passport and copy, marriage cert an copy inc English translation, no fee, one recorded evelope for return of docs and your wife will get a visa. All fine and nothing to be too serious or worried about.

    Have fun.

  2. Thank you for that.

No problem, thaigirl. Remember that everyone in the UK now has to go through the same procedure for a first UK passport, British citizen by birth or otherwise. Years ago (too many), when I got my first passport it was much simpler and no interview. You should be fine.

Thanks again Paully. I am sure all will be fine smile.png . And thanks again for taking the freetime to answer me, its a big help cause the UKBA still neevr answers my emails. But with you, BAnkockney (cool name), Khun 7by7 (the boss) and lots of others by answers here and PM, I think I have all the information I will need.

    Good forum 90% good people.

    Thank you

  3. OP

I called my friend at the Thai embassy (your wife or you can PM me too to Talk about this)

Was you wife and this man married before in the amphor (local registration office)?

Also, if you have had his name removed from all records, our shared assumption is no, they were never legally married. So, pl confirm.

However, if they were married and the issue present itself when yoour wife applies for visa for the child, then the issue can be fixed with small expense through the Thai family court of the birth registration district. The process takes 28 days but I will only post up the procedures IF you tell me they were married legally married before and are now divorced.

  4. Good job you don't go to Rannong, they sit in the meat with a fag in there mouths with rats running around.people pick up what they want and disregard the rest. This is Thailand, get use to it. maybe us westerners are to sterile for our own good.

maybe you are too negative for everyones' good.

  5. I go to Amsterdam maybe three times a year, sometimes with my husband, and sometimes alone (but to stay with Dutch friends).

Its very easy and I usually apply for the schengen visa by the postoffice to the German embassy as its free and I dont have to attend interviews and go into London.

Very easy. Take a look at the German website.

I know you are meant to apply to first port of entrance but its always been ok and Ive been to Amsterdam 8 times.

"And what kind of questions are asked?"

Various questions about your family and background - remember it's satisfying the interviewer that you are who you say you are.

    Cough ... Valid point

"your family and background" are important issues regardless of which country you are applying for a Visa.

No, this is a passport application not visa! And these checks are done to ensure the paper applicant is the applicant sat before them.

It has nothing to do with what you are suggesting!

Thanks BAngkokney (nice name too by the way).

  7. "how long was the interview and wha happened in the interview room?"

With the wife's, it took about 20 mins. It's an interview - formal questions from one interviewer, done in English.

"Can the partner of the applicant be in attendance?"

Not at the actual interview itself - why would he be (it's not his passport application)? But he can go along and wait outside, he'll probably overhear most of the questions but naturally he can't give any input into the answers.

    Hi Paully,

Thank you for that. And good first handed experience, I was worried about it and had bad thought about the last hurdle (getting a passport). 20 minutes is ok, I get nervous and like to have my boy to support me, but I can handle the 20 minutes.

    Thanks again Khun Paully

  8. My wife is consistently going to get the word from monks who each give conflicting forecasts. The latest a week ago suggested that she would be in the UK this week.

    <snip>

A real true monk would not say something so silly like predict visas or give lottery numbers. Your monk probably sings Karaoke and has a wig for Saturdays.

Tip, when I was waiting I got impatient and called the embassy and got to speak to a nice farng girl who told me the approx waiting time at that moment. I know we are not meant to but I did and she answered.

Good luck, all will be good. Just be cool

  9. 2 or more years ago so not valid now I guess, timelines probably changed.

Indefinite Leave to Enter, I think its the same as ILR but it just means that you get indefinite leave immediately and do not have to apply for settlement visa (and wait 2 years to apply for ILR)

I got it as my husband and I met a long time ago and married when we were both youngsters and we lived togther outside the UK for a long time. I think its like a special visa for those kind of relationships.

  10. I met her in a bar like most farangs, and as usual fell completely in love

In a bar? Like most? I am not so sure about that.............

I have a friend who was unmarried but wanted to accompany her boyfriend, however, like above visas were a problem so his workplace hired her on a domestic visa with the workplace as his home (so she was a domestic in his home) and they did it that way.

Then, she later got a job for an oil company and transfered to the company sposnsorship. This continued for 18 months until they actually decided marriage was right for them. Now, they live there still and she works for the same oil company.

The only hard issues was tranfering from domestic to professional work visa, I think.

  11. Hello,

    Another question from a Thai:

Can I ask how long ahead of meeting the nationality checking service did you have to make an appointment? I will have lived in the UK for 3 years within a couple of months and I want to make an appoitment in time. I did ask two local councils but noone responded to my questions as I guess because of austerity measures,

Also, from getting granted citizenship to going for the citizenship ceremony, how long did you have to wait?

    Thank you

    Jazz.
