  1. Thanks Phillip, I just bit the bullet and took a couple of hours to decipher. Ended up just registered myself (too hard for inlaws) and used passport as ID and I got a login. Setup the address plus uploading inlaws ID and blue book. Added myself and wife to it and got the approved/informed printout. Done, annoying and an effort but suppose it won't be too hard in the future not I've done it once.
  2. Just arrived at the inlaws place Phuket and knew about this TM30 but not sure if we have to register. Note we need to extend the visa at the local office during our stay. When applying for the METV, on the form you need to add the address you are staying, so does this exclude you from needed to do the TM30? Asking here because to register for the TM30 it seems you need to be a business and we are only staying at the families place. Thanks
  3. Thanks Pib and others. We won't have the income for the LTR visa but thought this O-X might be worth considering. Will keep thinking for the next time but right now we have just got a METV. Would would be great is if this 90 visa exempt came in!
  4. (For retirement long stay: valid for 5 years) https://sydney.thaiembassy.org/en/publicservice/non-immigrant-visa-type-o-x I'm interested in this visa (Sydney embassy) for my wife and I. Reading through the requirements I'm not sure of a few things. Anyone know who has got this visa please... Spouses of holders of O-X Visa will be considered for temporary stay under Category ‘O’ Visa if they do not qualify to apply for the O-X Visa themselves. A duly notarised marriage certificate must be provided as evidence. Not sure about this part, would that be if the spouse doesn't have the $150K or some other requirement? Would both my wife and I need $300K total? Would this Category ‘O’ Visa mentioned, have the same validity of 5 years? A certificate of health insurance issued by Thai insurance companies covering the entire period of stay in Thailand containing the detail of coverage as follows; In-house patients of not less than THB 400,000/policy year, as for out-patients, not less than THB 40,000/policy year. You are requested to obtain health insurance for at least 1 year. Firstly it requires health insurance for the "entire period of stay" then "You are requested to obtain health insurance for at least 1 year". We are interested in roughly 6 months in Thailand and 6 months in Sydney. I get "free" 6 months travel insurance and I want to use that as much as possible. For this 5 year visa, can we just pay the first 12 months health insurance to obtain the visa? Thanks.
  5. I was ignoring the second entry for simplicity as it says, "For double - entries visas only". There is another visa called exactly that (Double entries) so was ignoring it 😄 Ahhh I wasn't sure of this or if they wanted copies of flight tickets - thanks. I'll do this, thanks for your help.
  6. OK cheers, so: "Date of Departure from Thailand" 3 months after we arrive. including the one-month extension. "Duration of Proposed Stay" as 90 days.
  7. Hello, I'm filling in the Visa form that's located on the Sydney site here: https://sydney.thaiembassy.org/en/page/95336-forms? My plan is to apply the for the multi-entry and stay about 6 months. Two months stay One month extension Trip to Malaysia Two months stay One month extension Question is about the "Date of Departure from Thailand". Would that be the date we go to Malaysia or the final date we leave Thailand after about 6 months? Also, I've put "Duration of Proposed Stay" as 170 days as the total number of days excluding the Malaysian trip. Would that be ok? Thanks.
  8. Thinking twice! ...I may not be 100% saying that Combination of genetics PLUS my lifestyle may be the reason I became pre-diabetic. Anyway, an annual blood check is always a really good idea because you can reverse it.
  9. All I can say is you are wrong; it eventually catches up to you. Well, it did in my case late 50's, now early 60's but maybe genetic. I have no other underlying issues that may cause it. Always been normal weight which I can't say the same for my sibling who is full on diabetic and 12 years older than me. Father has it too but only on tablets. Regularly eating carbs, sugar and sitting in front of a computer 8hrs+ a day at my day job and then too stuffed to bother exercise. Thinking like you I'm thin but doing this for years and one day out of the blue a blood test shows blood sugar is high. Then go do GTT test etc and doc says you better change your lifestyle. I now have a blood glucose monitor - I don't what to have that shyte!
  10. Yep I'm thin so must be a pre type 1.5 lol
  11. Not everyday but not overweight at all either. 173cm and 65-67kg forever :) There's a really good explanation about one type of carb by Dr. Sten Ekberg on Youtube. "Asians Were Skinny On Rice For 1000s Of Years"
  12. Not much junk food at all. Ate rice 2 meals a day for years and would often go get a Kit Kat (or whatever) at work lunchtime. Some ice cream here and there too. Not exercising much didn't help either. Edit: BTW rice is processed food too and I mostly stopped eating it. Occasional Basmati is it.
  13. I'll eat some sugar if it (diabetes) doesn't catch up to you in time! Slim and athletic here too (and scuba diver) but got pre-diabetic and reversed it eating very little processed food. Being slim doesn't exclude you.
  14. I always thought it was flexible and you could transfer it back into an Accumulation fund if you like: Converting super into retirement income: What are your options? (superguide.com.au) but as mentioned, while not paying tax in Retirement Phase, this may have some issue with paying Thai tax (to keep on topic!).
  15. Australian superannuation, if you have stopped work, over 60 and converted your superannuation to Retirement phase (formerly called pension phase) you pay zero tax. So I'd assume that money brought into Thailand would be taxed but as you mentioned in your post, good luck working that out!
  16. Yes crazy and his children are employed in his Australian business and live in property he owns there. I'd say his kids would be somewhat concerned.
  17. Thanks, that's what I understood regarding previous wills being void when married. Interesting if Australia recognises them as defacto, she has already scored a few properties and accessories in Thailand. Probably sorted out in court between his children in Australia and Thai wife with a big legal bill!
  18. Long story short, an elderly gentleman married a Thai lady a few years ago in Thailand under Thai law. It wasn't registered with the Australian embassy. He has passed away and has children in Australia, he owns a business plus property worth multiple millions in Australia. He had a will (providing for his children) in Australia prior to marriage but I think it's void once married. He had no will in Thailand. I understand the Thai widow has possession of the assets he bought in Thailand (multiple homes/car etc) but she is going for his assets in Australia too. I didn't know the gentleman, was only told and asked if I know anything about a situation like this (as I'm married to Thai) but have no idea! Is it possible the Thai widow has claim over his Australian assets? I'm guessing yes and his children will have years in Australian court sorting it out.
  19. Got a deal this week (thru to Oct 31) on the Holiday Inn Resort site for B2500 a night total, standard room 2 nights min. Must book 3 days in advance.
  20. Cheapest I found on Bangla was B69 (haha) in a bar a few back from Kangaroo. Other cheapies had it for B79 or 5 for B400.
  21. Sorry, I didn't mean to upset you. I said Thai wife as she speaks Thai fluently and those I mentioned could not and she was wary of eating there. Later we had enough looking for a place and found at the one we chose were Thai cooks. BTW been married to the same amazing wife for 30 years ????
  22. Haha interesting you say this. My Thai wife was complaining so many Nepalese and Burmese trying to lure us into Thai restaurants. Found Thais doing the cooking but guess they are better value out the front? One other comment, we noticed is many old chooks in Bangla now ???? Not too many younger girls.
