  1. Thank you kindly @Dogmatix! I'm utterly astounded. That puts an end to my application!! Since I don't even have UK notary certified copies that's the end of that by the looks of it.
  2. This is the required form to be completed by a state hospital. Medical cert_PR.pdf
  3. I have a question about the certification of degrees. For the PR application I have been told to have my university degrees certified by my embassy and then translated into Thai and certified by the Department of Consular Affairs. Perhaps I didn't understand this properly. I am not sure what the British Embassy can say about my UK degrees. Any idea?
  4. I know diddly-squat about this topic... Did fascist boy cause a Mexican standoff and it went out of kilter for the others? Can you bring us up to speed in a few line, Jingthing? Cheers!
  5. There are good topics on Permanent Residency here, such as Camerata's Guide To The Permanent Residence Process! However I'd like to have a dedicated topic on the required language proficiency for PR, as this seems to be a major aspect that somehow is not particularly well defined. I have received information from an Immigration Officer in Bangkok (October 2021) that for PR that 'you need to communicate in Thai well' and there will be a 'test of the understanding of Thai language: speaking and listening'. The discussions I have seen here show a variety of experiences. Some people said that the requirements are like holding a basic conversation where you can introduce yourself and be able to answer some general questions. Others made it sound like that you need to have a quite an extensive vocabulary and a more advanced command of language. Since there doesn't seem to be an official technical guidance, I post these two classifications below. I would like to hear from those who have gone though the process: what level they were test for, what level they actually had at the time. It would also be useful if people can state when they applied and where. Finally, how did you prepare for this and what was your overall experience of the language test.
  6. Yes, BLADE attachments are not very safe because --unlike a proper chainsaw-- they don't have a brake that disengages the drive in the event of a kickback. Likewise there's a lack of a trigger switch as you already mentioned is a problem. The DISC attachment apparently is even worse! The report states that chainsaw discs attached to angel grinders have caused several catastrophic injuries to face and neck areas. Apparently the entire contraption can propel itself upwards when kickback happens.
  7. Any update on this? Has it been announced when applications will be accepted this year?
  8. From the Tools from Hell forum... Saw this official announcement; it basically concluded that a chainsaw disc attached to an angle grinder has a safety profile of a chainsaw crossed with an M80. ????‍♂️ https://www.gov.uk/government/news/uk-safety-alert-issued-for-angle-grinder-chainsaw-disc-attachment Widely sold in Thailand at various online retailers. Definitely NOT recommended!

  10. Thank you @Crossy for confirming this. Much appreciated! Good practical point @OneMoreFarang. I'll see if there are some reasonably priced mini CUs to put in the shop. Now a new industrial welder might might well be an option. :-)
  11. I completely rewired my workshop which is in an extension to the house. I have two (radial) circuits: Socket circuit with 4 sqmm wires which tails off to 2.5 sqmm in places Light circuit 1.5 sqmm wire; total consumption less than 150 W I don't have a separate CU in my shop and only have one cable (3 X 4 sqmm) coming in from the house's CU. This cable is protected with a 20 A breaker. Questions: Would it be necessary (or recommend) to protect the light circuit that only has 1.5 sqmm wires with a lower breaker i.e. 10 A or 6 A, rather than connecting it directly to the socket circuit? Would a simple a 2P/ 10 A breaker in my shop be sensible in order to separate the light circuit?
  12. This is not meant for you! It's for people who like to switch from eating chemical-filled meat with artificial and health-threatening flavors to chemical-filled meat substitutes with artificial and health-threatening flavors. This supposedly is done for environmental reasons or green washing as some call it.
  13. So let me get this right: Random guy arrested for fraud gets a spurious link of being some porn king, Copper arrested for murder -with clear video evidence- gets a press conference to highlight his good intentions. So what precisely is the role of the media here?
  14. Although legal to use, you need a license to grow Kratom for commercial purposes. License will only be issued to Thai citizens residing in Thailand. Likewise selling Kratom is controlled and subject to specific regulations. Best to read the fineprint... to avoid fines or imprisonment.
