  1. ..........you must be mad!!! why can't you just follow the laws of this wonderful country as you would expect Thai's to follow the laws of your home country???.....people like you make it so difficult for those foriegners to be respected the Thai authorities who end up having to clamp down and make the law more stricter.....must be mad and bad advise if told to ignore and just on the way out !!!!

  2. "Thailand Unforgettable" campaign to be dropped

BANGKOK: -- The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) will drop its recently launched "Thailand Unforgettable" publicity campaign and resume the previous "Amazing Thailand" campaign, the agency's governor, Phornsiri Mahoharn, said Thursday.

He said the new campaign, initially intended to run for at least three years, was being withdrawn because it had received a poorer reception from the private sector. The decision is also in line with the sufficiency economics the government is using to save funds.

Phornsiri said TAT would relaunch the "Amazing Thailand" campaign at the annual Asia Travel Forum at the end of the month in Singapore.

.............really easy, just bring back the 'old' idea that somebody else thought of, worked and reap the rewards !! hard worker eh ?? l remember me on Channel 5 TV for the campaign some years ago. promoting in Thai to the local market !!!!! I wonder if they will ask me back to do another program for them????

  3. i work in a hotel and as of now i have not had one cancellation. fingers crossed that it stays that way! this year is a bumper high season for phuket.

Hope that you have a bumper year - Phuket deserves it !! I worked there for 9 years, and 5 of those we had disasters or incidents which kept tourists away and hotel staff on half pay !! Good luck and lets hope 2007 will be without incident for you in Phuket - still love the island mind you !!! Ex General Manager, a Phuket Resort.

  4. yes you should tell Immigration becuase when they go and check with your employer (on site) and you are not there, then you are really in a mess.... I was in phuket and they came to my work place and interviewed me !! Be honest with the team on floor 3, they are very helpful and can suggest what is the correct procedure - be 100% sure all the time - they check more than you think !!! They could even tell me my first pay cheque in 1989 here in Thailand etc etc......

  5. yes a jai yen yen approach is much needed .... names drop off the lists by the way....... just becuase the Immigration have accepted your application fee does not mean that you are granted PR...... the test and VDO interview... then all fowarded to final stage of consideration........ l have heard of poeple being dropped for not paying one month's income tax so a very jai yen yen is required (but dont get disheartened along the way!)

  6. ..well l guess it is sorting out the people who unfortunately decide to live here in Thailand for vritually nothing, work with no work permits and dont pay taxes and causes us who are following the law recieve grief when we have to renew our work permits, visas etc.....btw, this happened in 1989/1990 for a short period too and l remember Hong Kong stopped issuing visas for people who had already one tourist visa in their passort - same reason give as Rangoon - 'you stay long enough in Thailand'...

  7. ...been here for 15 years.....the gay scene is good....be careful though...romance does not happen here easily.....for some fun, then there is plenty to be had...have to pay mind you in most cases, but the websites of gaydar and gay.com are useful introductions....if you are looking for a real 'local' gay scene, there are some places well away from Soi 4, but a basic Thai language would be useful.....if you are looking for real romance, you will need to spend much time here and you will find but not in soi 4 !!
