  1. That was a heart warming protest in Libya and much appreciated by Americans.

But all of this must be seen in context.

There were indeed over the top protests at a number of US embassies in the Muslim world during that period.

In Egypt right after that stupid video became news. Storming of the US embassy in Cairo.

    post-37101-0-93856700-1358336036_thumb.j

    that is off topic.

So are you asserting there was no Islamic inspired outrage over the youtube video in Libya? That does not sound credible at all. Why not there when everywhere else in the region? It is disrespecting Islam to discuss the truth about reactions to that video?

i am saying it is off topic. it is against the rules to talk on this board off topic.

The ambassador wasn't killed by an angry mob. Egypt is not in Benghazi. period.

  2. They're not terrorists. Chalerm said so.

I say they are terrorists. Who are you going to believe?

I don't know you from a bar of soap ... clearly I'd believe you before I'd believe Chalerm.

Did you notice int he days after this bombing attack in Bangkok by Iran sponsored nationals, that the Thai PM Yinluck changed the countries support for Islamic Politics in Palestine.

The world is pro- Palestine and so is Thailand, since ages.

  3. I actually don't care whether it was an angry mob or whether it was pre-planned or a combo. It's of academic interest but on the list of what SHOULD be high priorities for the American people it rates almost nothing.

Pushing that lies about the angry mob is insulting the locals.

I actually never thought about it that way but, you're right.

An angry mob is just regular local people pushed to the point of being very angry. So angry that they go out attack a consulate and kill the ambassador? If I were a local in Benghazi I would be pissed about that. I guess that explains whey there were counter protests just two days after the attack.

Libyans hold peaceful demonstrations decrying the Benghazi attacks [PHOTOS]

Even as the anti-American protests in Libya and Egypt spread to Yemen, Libyans in Tripoli and Benghazi are holding peaceful counter-protests condemning any violence and mourning Chris Stevens.

Never too late to start to think about and inform yourself and rethink.

Unfortunately pictures and reports like that you will never or seldom see in the Western world media. So people there don't know and will stick to their Islamophobia anyway. that can be seen also on this board.

  4. fact is he wasn't killed by a mob or a group of protesters who got upset by a movie.

    Can you refute this?:

The ambassador was said to be among four US officials killed in a protest over a US-produced film that is said to insult the Prophet Muhammad.

That are old news.and Islamophobes assumed something like that and Islamophobes wants to believe it. but it is not true.

Search later reports if there is anyone still sticking to that angry mob theory.

    edit to add.

and yes i know even the POTUS felt for that theory but that doesn't make it true.

it just shows how much of this and baseless prejudice towards muslins seems to be acceptable by the people without recognizing what it is baseless prejudice and negative attitude toward Muslims.

Do you or Muslims ever accept responsibility for anything or do you just always blame someone else? I would probably have more respect to someone or people that could man up and say "yeah I did it, what cha gonna do about."

Doing what? If you are full of prejudice and bias you will not hear what Muslims have to say.

here in that article are plenty of links.

no one, serious and reliable sources, still comes up with that angry mob theory. that was just at the first day after when everybody and his dog jumped to conclusions and some of them were obviously false. But some believed them, depending on their level of prejudice and bias towards Muslims.

  6. Oh, and your version paints the Muslims in a better light?

  7. The prosecutor's job is to secure a conviction. If it is easier to obtain a conviction on lesser charges, then that is the strategy that will be pursued. It will be a lot easier to prove beyond reasonable doubt that the Iranians were intending to kill people if the activities with the bomb are prosecuted as basic criminal violence.. As well, the throwing of the grenade at a policeman and a Thai civilian has been established, so it is just a matter of stating the facts in court. There will be no need to undertake additional charges on "terrorism", The penalties for making and detonating bombs, and for throwing grenades at people are just as harsh as they are for terrorism. Why waste time on additional charges that bring with it the problems of Iranian foreign policy when it is a slam dunk to get a conviction for the Iranian attempts to cause death and mayhem?

This is one time where Iranian laws would come in handy as the accused would have been swinging from a crane in a public square in Tehran by now. However, Thailand will give the accused due process, which is something that would not be given in Iran.

So there is no evidence for a terror plot against Israel.

    Thank you for the answer.

That isn't what he said. What he said it is that there is no good reason for Thailand to attempt to pursue those charges to achieve the goal of putting these guys into a long prison sentence. That said, if there are people who prefer to think they were in Thailand for the temples and golf, can't the see the harm in that.

He said they will be only tried for criminal violence. there are no charges of terrorism.

Thats all and he added some off topic rants about the justice system in Iran. Nothing about temples and golf.

  9. I think it is established the ambassador died from smoke inhalation from a riotous group setting a building on fire, an unfortunate incident but hardly an assasination.

I always felt Kerry rolled over way too easy on the voting irregularities, he should have pushed hard to get rid of secret software tallying ballots.

He was killed in a planned commando attack and not by a mob of rioters.

The mob version is just a fabrication by people who are interested in painting Muslims in a bad light.

  10. Are they on trail for planning an attack on the Israel embassy or are they just on trail for possession explosives and throwing a grenade down the road?

Is that alleged terrorist plot part of the charge?

The charges include attempted murder, so what do you think? coffee1.gif Obviously, defense attorneys anywhere in the world can try on any kind of cockamamie defense that they think has a chance. This excuse sounds very lame meaning they almost definitely don't have anything better. Even though Thailand would be better off without any involvement in this external conflict, they have no choice now. I predict convictions. Easily.

    okay also "attempted murder".

but the question is if something like "terrorist conspiracy" is part of the charges. and if there is really evidence a for a terror act against Israel and will be see that evidence in the court? Or is that just allegation and speculation in the media, but not enough for a trail?

  11. He said he would push for standardising the quality of food served in roadside stalls and restaurants, and would encourage all eateries to have English menus as well.

    Truly a political visionary

Why should china town people vote for this guy?

Ex-Bangkok governor Sukhumbhand Paribatra yesterday vowed to make Yaowaraj famous as the best Chinatown in Southeast Asia if he is re-elected in the poll to be held on March 3. The date for the election was announced yesterday.

He knows that the Chinese New Year is next month, and he is looking for votes. Even the Chinatown in San Francisco is much nicer than the one in Bangkok. And yes, they are Chinese in S.F.

Well, ask a resident of Yaworat if he wants his home district turned into a Disneyland like in America with English menu and fish & baked beans for the tourists to come. and not forget the new set of regulations and restrictions for their beloved roadside foodstalls so authorities can charge them for any violation of that new set of rules.

Will they love it or do they see their home turf with a different set of eyes then the tourists on thaivisaforum?

  12. Any Thai readers may want to check the news. My wife has just informed me it has hit the news that Pongsapat was put in jail in the US for a brief period for shop lifting a radio!!! Seems like he is perfect for the team and the PTP.

Great Oaks from little acorns grow.

Looks like the boy has done his apprenticeship thus he is able to follow the capricious and malevolent whims of his puppet master without nary a word of of doubt or a qualm, thus he is also able to emulate the puppet master without any further training.

    Democrat Party welcomes Pongsapat

The Democrat Party offered a warm welcome to Pol Gen Pongsapat Pongcharoen, who was picked on Sunday as the Pheu Thai Party’s candidate for Bangkok’s governorship.

At 10:45AM today, Ong-art Klampaiboon, the re-election campaign manager for incumbent Bangkok governor MR Sukhumbhand Paribatra, said that he was aware of the ruling party’s decision to field Pongsapat. However, he insisted that the governor’s race was not a war between parties but an individual competition.

  13. Agree good young men and women of the allied forces dying in the place for what? Yes I also feel sorry for the good civilian population of Afganistan, but nothing is going to change. Nothing has changed for centuries and when the allies completely pull out it will be back to the way it was. It is pointless sacrificing Americans, British and Aussies any further. Who is going to try in 2025 thinking they can make a difference?

Yes, the downside of invading other countries and killing the locals is that the locals will fight back.

  14. They know Thailand would rather than not get involved in the Iran vs. the west conflict and keep as neutral as they can. It would be politically convenient to let them go.

It is more a "the west against Iran" conflict.

They will have a fair process in Thailand instead of being shipped to a prison camp on a island with a military base or some other secret location with torture instead of a fair legal trail.

and they can say what ever they want to their defense.

  15. And is there any wonder why India is the dregs of society of a modern world.

India is a nice place to visit. Crimes like this happen somewhere else too.

That guy is a defense lawyer, what do you expect him to do?

did anyone read the full article?

    it ends with:

"These people are just seeking revenge," Sharma said. "They are not seeking justice. A defendant has a right to a lawyer, this is a basic principle of a modern society."

Claiming that police work and procedure in India is lacking is acceptable, so is being concerned about mob rule.

The right for legal representation does not entail the legal advisor laying the blame on the victim in such a callus manner.

And so seems India bashing acceptable or posting fantasies how the lawyer should be raped with metal bars or hurt in other violent ways plus one the sideline just type your line of hate and prejudice towards Muslims and Iran and the Kongo to the topic.

    thanks for your concerns.

  16. Muslims remove their pubic hair since back the days and not just some Brazilian sisters opened a shop in Manhatten and made pubic hair removal a trend in the West.

What's your point? Are you saying we should refer to that style of pubic hair trimming as a 'muslim' rather than a 'brazilian' ??

simply-removing pubic is not something new.

and next time you see a girl in a burka you will know that she is shaved.

  17. vowed to make Yaowaraj famous as the best Chinatown in Southeast Asia if he is re-elected

Um, I do not know, but is the country of China in South East Asia ????

Wouldn't a town in china take this out?

Not in China but a district in a town out of china where many expat Chinese or ethnic Chinese people live.

Sukhumbhand thinks the Bangkok Chinatown could become the best in SEA with having English menus in the restaurants. what an odd idea.

You think that the Chinese restaurant owners are particularly interested in having tourists? Chinatown is basically as it says, a part of town for Chinese.

They are more than capable of organising it themselves if they want. Actually rather patronising to say their food is crap and they can't print their own English menus. Then how would they charge farang price?

    indeed.

i doubt that the majority of people living in Chinatown wait for a guy with ideas like that.

  19. Pheu Thai candidate Pongsapat Pong-charoen said yesterday he would highlight "seamless" cooperation with the government in his election campaign.

He is really pushing this point.

While he could be his own man and govern the city that is truly in the best interests of it citizens. It really sounds like he will be taking orders from the upper chain of command of the ruling PTP and their brothers.

    people will have the choice.
