  1. This Rabbi in Israel says that Obama has been one of the most hostile of all U.S. Presidents to Israel. Obama doesn't believe the tail should wag the dog, and has stood up to Israel - uh, a little bit. Romney is Bibi's friend.

Prominent Religious Zionism Rabbi Eliezer Melamed calls on American citizens to support Republican presidential hopeful. 'Obama has proved he is not a true friend of Israel,' he states
Among the president's "sins", Melamed mentioned Obama's pressure on Israel to freeze construction in Judea, Samaria and Jerusalem – a move which the rabbi believes "put a curse" on the American people and their country.[/font]

Didn't Obama said that "Jerusalem must be the undivided capital of Israel"? How more far can you go?

And Biden declared himself to a Zionist?

True is that Obama as every other POTUS gives Israel plenty of support and there should be no doubt about it.

  2. I think a large portion of the democratic party base is to the left of Obama (including me) but the unfortunate reality of the U.S. political system is that we only get to choose one of two choices for president (that have a chance of winning). In my view Obama is in practice in the white house a slightly left of center moderate. So it's not a difficult choice for those to the left of Obama between Obama and Romney.

On an issue like single payer health care (Canadian style system: full access, government controlled, costs contained), I personally believe Obama supports that in his heart but decided it was politically impossible to win that so he didn't even try, and I think he was probably right about that (sadly).

Does that mean that the " slightly left of center moderate " Obama is not the real Obama?

  3. The "I'll show you mine if you show me yours" is getting a little tedious. How about Trump showing everyone what's beneith his shredded wheat?

What you seem to fail to grasp in all this is Trump isn't trying to be the most powerful man in the world. Obama is. As Mania says if the people who are electing him into the job can't ask simple questions and have to force people to produce documents the rest of the USA citizens are asked to produce on a daily basis something is seriously messed up.

I also can't understand why at least ten people are running for the job yet you only ever see or hear from these two ?

    What's all that about ?

Some people say it is racist to ask a president questions like that or that you cannot ask these questions in case you are wearing a wig.

  4. Mitt Romney's father was born in Mexico, this was not an issue when he ran for the Republican presidential nomination in 1968.

John McCain was born in the (Panama) Canal Zone, this was not an issue when he ran president in 2008.

Mitt Romney was born in America and John McCain was born on an American military base which is considered to be American soil. Why would there be any "issues" about them running for president? rolleyes.gif

These ignorant "birther hillbillies" are an embarrassment. My guess is that they don't realize it. wink.png

  5. The trouble is, if it was Romney, he'd invade Canada thinking he was invading Mexico or something. This cock up from Mitt the Twitt is beyond incredible:

""Syria is Iran's only ally in the Arab world," he said. "It's their route to the sea."

    Er.... what?

Aside from the fact Iraq is now quite chummy with Syria, what with their governments sharing the same muslim sect and all, perhaps someone needs to get a globe and show Romney the Arabian Gulf, the Arabian Sea and the Caspian Sea - and which country borders all three.

Strewth, that's right up there with "aircraft need windows that open".

    Where is the "Arabian Gulf"?

  6. - The EU do not see the need for a missile shield protecting them; surely they should be the ones to decide?

OK, then ask the EU members Poland and Czech Republic how they feel about it. Obama screwed them in that deal and he is not liked over there one bit. That, and talking about Polish Death Camps during WWII. rolleyes.gif

And not to forget that Obama's uncle liberated Auschwitz.

  7. I wonder if Romney wins, is he legally obligated to use his real and FULL name when being sworn in?

Obama used his real full name:

(And what a great, historic day it was.)

In case you're wondering what ads are being shown in the few swing states now (probably nonstop):

Using his full name? What kind of point you are trying to make? Honest question, i have no clue what this is about.

  8. With the whole middle east going bananas........it needs someone that is going to give Israel a bit of confidence. It doesn't need a person who bows as low as possible to a Saudi King and whispers to Putin about having more flexibility if he's re-elected. I was keen on Obama, but he's let the USA down big time.

Joe Biden should be your man then.

  9. Yeah, accomplishing some kind of universal health care for the USA, something that has been a goal of many since FDR, that is so incredibly selfish!w00t.gif

Its called: "doing good with other people's money."

    easy task.

Not sure what you are saying. Obama should pay for everything from his own wallet? In any kind of health care system, the costs are shared in complex ways. Obamacare is modeled on the very republican, conservative idea of individual responsibility with mandates originated by ... Mitt Romney. Now Romney is all Romnesiad on all that.

Ohh, i was not sure what you wanted to say.

Was your intention to say that Obama cannot be called selfish because Obamacare?

Did you never heard the expression "doing good with other people's money"? Milton Friedman, the classic liberal, said you can't.

  10. The fact that there were no deaths or injuries makes this story of minuscule importance considering the carnage taking place in every surrounding Country. There is not even a clear cut legal case to be made against Israel as they are blockading potential arms supplies to a terrorist group. At least the fuss surrounding illegal settlement activity has some basis in law to support it, whereas this imho is a transparent attempt to try and get Israel embroiled in the chaos surrounding the Arab spring and has nothing whatsoever to do with any humanitarian concerns.

Then you are unaware of Israel's policy towards the Gaza strip and the West bank. It very much IS a humanitarian issue. Israel simply finds it convenient to paint it as a political one.

In my opinion the actual reality is much more complex. Of course there are serious humanitarian concerns in Gaza. There are also political issues as well both internal and external to Gaza. None of this happens in a clean vacuum. Such as the Gaza government, when they get the supplies that do come, who decides which people in Gaza get it?

FYI: The government in Gaza was elected by the people in Gaza.

But this topic is about that Israel thinks it is in the position to decide and to allow what the kind of things the people in Gaza will get and that they are not allowed to use an own seaport.

    That is the humanitarian issue.

  11. Gary who?

Anyway, back to the actual contenders, it is not true that Romney wants to replace Obamacare with Romneycare. Romneycare is very similar to Obamacare, except on the state level. One state. Romney doesn't want any federalization of health care reform. He is basically for the status quo, which is a nightmare, pre-Obamacare.

As i said its a third option, from a libertarian viewpoint. from someone who is neither an Obama nor Romney supporter.

No need to discuss Gary Whos own positions, but i found the comparsion interesting - which brakes down to: same, same and not much different.

And when looking at the vice president candidates there is the choice between an Ayn Rand fan vs. a Golda Meir fan.

  12. A big factor is if liberals get off their fat butts and vote. The usual trend is for conservatives to make the effort to get in their Lincoln Continentals and drive over to the polling booth and vote. Liberals are usually too stoned, or lazy or simply slough it off by saying, "my one little vote doesn't count anyway..." If liberals vote en masse, Obama wins.

This thing about trying to paint Obama with a Marxist paintbrush is silly. It may work with oldie arch conservatives, but that's about it. It's like saying Romney is the monopoly man with the silver cane and top hat. Gimme a break.

The first choice—and the only one that matters—is: freedom or dictatorship, capitalism or statism.

That is the choice which today’s political leaders are determined to evade. The “liberals” are trying to put statism over by stealth—statism of a semi-socialist, semi-fascist kind—without letting the country realize what road they are taking to what ultimate goal. And while such a policy is reprehensible, there is something more reprehensible still: the policy of the “conservatives,” who are trying to defend freedom by stealth.

  13. Marxists in American don't usually rise very high in politics...until recently that is.

That is the kind of thing Europeans understandably giggle about. Obama's a Marxist? Yeah. Sure. All educated people should study Marxist literature. I took such a class in college surrounding by people more like Mitt Romney than Barack Obama.

What i don't get or have at least problems with it is that label "liberal" because i read it often when actually some socialist tendencies are getting described.

people should d some study on the Austrian school.

  14. That's just projection. Obama and his cabal of advisers are steeped in far left ideology as demonstrated by their past acquaintances. I suggest anyone read 'The post American presidency' for details. .

A cabal of far lefties? Did you mean there there is an Judaeo-Bolshevik conspiracy?

I think i could call Obama a socialist too, but he isn't that kind of socialist.
