If anyone had read the OP they would have realized that there are TWO sites burning.
-
Coming from Bagna Trad towards Ramkhamhaeng Road using the Eastern Outer Ring Road, I could not help but notice huge black clouds of smoke. This is about three kilometers before where one has to pay. Even the taxi driver slowed down to take a look. Basically, he said the fire was big.
The smell of burning plastic has now drifted towards Moobaan Sammakorn.
Anyone have any idea what is going on?

Please be aware that all Samlo drivers are on their way to the capital as well. They'll arrive in Bangkok in about four weeks. -
And this is why in the international community Thaivisa is not highly regarded. Sad really...

As falangs we are not to voice our opinion. I will. We have many a rai under the current rice scheme. We (P-lok) have got shit.

All I know is that my Thai family is part of this protest. They are owed B700,000. Not seen a dime/baht.

We still have B700,000 owed to us. What shall we do? I know what the family is going to do...

Perhaps a few posters misread the reports. NO, they are not going to deny care to anyone. They are merely stating they have different views.
What is sad is the following. Half of Thailand's medical staff is either on one side or the other. I think this demonstrates how deeply divided this county is...

Today, I was between the last concrete embankment that seperated the protestors and the police force. I was not on the official list of press but managed to squeeze my way through. My thoughts were this is not a good place to be in.
As the protestors got closer to the final concrete barrier with the front end machine helping out the riot police started to move out. The police did not help to move move any obstacle, they merely stood by the side while it happened.
Once the protestors crossed the final line, the police had lined both sides of the streets with roses, handshakes, wais and grins. This included regular police along with cadets.
Towards the end of the walk the military was handing out cold water and posing for photographs.
This is what I saw.
Many of the protestors sat down in front of the police building, but what I saw was that once may of them had realized their goals that head back to the main stage at Rajadamnnueng.

I have lived here in Thailand well over a decade and was on the ground floor when the concrete slabs were tossed aside to gain access to the Police Headquarters. The stench of tear gas was still in the air.
Today I saw anti-government hard guys, old ladies and many middle class citizens. Many of these protestors can speak English and some drive a cab.
Both the police and the military were very polite. I saw roses being handed out, handshakes and hugs.
Let's see what happens next.

So does a teacher pay taxes or not?
An international school says that teachers do not pay any taxes the first two years. However, the Thai Department of Revenue and the Work Permit branch say that the teachers must pay first then get a refund.
To my understanding Thailand has an treaty with the US, UK and other countries regarding Double Taxation Agreements. If I understand it correctly the teacher is exempt from the first two years with taxes. Needless to say, there is numerous ways to understand this treaty.
Does anyone have a clear understanding of this situation?

Common sense says that the one in Samut Prakarn is far from what the Op posted.
