  1. I bought my Tiger Boxer 200 in 2006 with double diskbrake at my dealer, PS Leasing across Rajaphat University in Buri Ram. It's done about 45000 km and it still works pretty well. Pretty sturdy, but it has various weaknesses and quality issues. The engine is pretty good and overall the does better than I thought it would.

My dealer told me that the company of Tiger, Thai Motorcycles, has stopped producing motorbikes. Does someone know something about this rumour? When and why did they stop production? Have they stopped definitely? Or have they set up a new company instead?

In about 9 months I want to leave (my Thai) home and go and live in a Buddhist monastery. I think about selling the bike or perhaps offering it to a collector or museum (Jesada Technik Museum??). Could anyone advise me on this? Or might someone of you on Thaivisa be interested in buying for a low price?

They proceeds will all go to making merit (tam bun) anyway. How much could I ask, since I don't know whether parts are still available.

Might be worth getting a few picture posters made and asking the local Farang "hangouts" if they would mind displaying them (Paddys/Bamboo/Moung Pizza, for instance)
  2. With the recent reductions, I'd expect them to have shot a big hole in the prices now asked for in 2nd hand Triumph (except true old classics)

Sorry but with great regret, I found the Scrambler underwhelming at the recent show. To me it looks like a toy.

  3. Surin is a good province. People are nice there. It was known as the poorest province for years. They have alot of Khmer dialect but the people are down to earth. Please don't knock what you don't know. Just go with the flow.

Is that your opinion as a Farang?

I have lived around that area for nearly 10 years and have experienced a different opinion when you speak to Thais from neighbouring provinces about the inhabitants of Surin.

  4. Nice to have such a nice choice for such a small western population. Kalasin, to my knowledge only has three western type restaurants, and only one has a decent selection of food. Mukdahan doesn't have any that I know of, so be happy that you have a choice.

George and anyone else interested, Amadeus (Kalasin's only true Western restaurant) is now Closed and will probably not reopen anytime soon or ever again... The Owner has once again given in to the habit of drinking on a daily basis and has broken up with his wife...

    Too much info (IMO)

  5. Say Hi from me and why not have one of his glorious pizza"s???

What, for breakfast? Shame on you for a renegade, Dilligad!

In all my 53 years as an expat in Asia, delighting in the foods of the countries where I've lived. I've never deviated from what a breakfast should be, and when I'm out, I will always try (at least) for an English breakfast. Admittedly, I've fined it down at home to a bowl of muesli and a cup of coffee, but that's a matter of convenience (and adjusting my diet to keep my weight where it should be).

That was to the previous poster, Santisuk who posted around 4pm and was off to Pizza4you, Mike. I'm with you on the breakfast thing as you mentioned BTW.

    Glad nuf fin happened!

  7. Hi, What size engine is that Honda Steed and if you read my post, I really dont want anything over 400cc, I think 1400cc is a little over 400cc.

    Thanks though

Page me when you come back and I can get you the right bike. Would a Honda Steed suit you? If you're still looking for a bike when you come back, please page me.

Got some nice motorcycles with all documentation. What about a Suzuki Intruder 1400 cc?

Steed are 400 or 600 and many have no legal(or doctored) registration books. They can be heavy like a + 400cc chopper (Hardly D) style cruiser so it might not be a good idea to completely write off other alternatives? ER6N for example.

I'm not saying Steeds are no good, I had one before getting a newer & more reliable Jap bike.

  8. Your choices

    Honda XR 250,... Don't know.

Kawasaki D-Trakker... the ones I have seen are a lot of money for what you get, if they have been off-road that means a lot more wear and tear.

Honda Steed 400... unreliable pretend HD and a pig to work on,

Honda CB 400... thirsty and trouble, so obviously cheap.

Yamaha SR 400... overpriced, most without green book and still overpriced and unless you are short you will look a dick. New they are over 250k+ baht, outrageous, buy one at that price and you will be a dick.

The new CB300f is on offer right now for 128k, nice bike.

Anyway you can get a 650 for that money, so SH it's a no brainer ER6n, or similar. There are plenty for sale, so prices will be good.

Disagree. You can easily get an SR in excellent condition for 65k. That's in the price range of a new crappy plastic scooter. How is that overpriced in any way?

Regarding the new one I have to agree...they could be cheaper.

Besides, the old SR will still be in production when most of these 'youngster bikes' will have faded into oblivion.

    Long live the SR!! :-)))

65k for a fully legal SR?

    Are you having a laugh?
