  1. But seriously, have any of you actually been into one of the government hospitals that participate in the scheme? Go in with a simple pimple of your leg and your more likely to come out with a leg amputated.

Of all the things I would not let any Thai Government program 'help' me with, number one, by a country mile is health insurance. I'll give up on practically everything to buy insurance that allows treatment in a private hospital, which I have to say in my experience are as good as any in the west.

Have you not noticed that most doctors work in BOTH private and government hospitals? Sure, a private hospital is more efficient and comfortable, of that I'm sure.
  2. Thanks!

Pretty much cements my decision for the next bike...Tiger 800 Xcx. Of course if Honda releases the rumoured Africa Twin 1000 in the same price range I'll be conflicted again.

A manageable 218 kg wet weight, cruise control, 3 rider modes, switchable traction control, switchable ABS, WP shock and forks, etc. The only thing I'm unsure of is the 21" front wheel. It's been a while since I've ridden any bike that has a bigger than 17" front and I wonder what the affect will be on the mountain roads and even splitting traffic.

slower and lazier steering. at normal conditions, not much difference IMO.

Agreed. The XR(x) is more a touring machine, I believe
  3. Are you 100% sure they still stop at Korat?

Thought I read somewhere that they had changed to non stop now with new busses.

As an example, last nights NCA Sisaket>BKK was non stop.

You appear to have missed the point here.

The NCA busses do not service the route to Roiet, the BigYellowBus does, as I pointed out before.

To be speaking about NCA is not relevant to the OP's needs.

To the OP...you need to look at this website : http://www.iloveyellowbus.com/en/ticket.html

They operate the route from Rayong and Pattaya to Mukdahan. They run two different routes both of which pass through and stop in Roiet.

Sorry to mislead, I got that from post 2 and as you said "I wasn't aware that..." I read that (& maybe others) as you are unsure of this and not that you know that NCA do not run from Roi Et.

Thanks for confirming that NCA is not an option for the OP.
