  2. Hi Russty,

Having only experiences with the German embassy but since we are talking Europe and a tourist visa valid for the so-called Schenger states the procedure is most likely the same:.

Russty, We (the UK) are not part of the Schenger agreement.  So the UK would be the sole country your GF would be able to visit (I understand the for other european countries if they belong to the Schenger agreement it allows that person holding a Visa for let's say Germany to also travel to other countries belonging to this agreement without further Visa regulations, However it is a tourist Visa this may be different). Tok long with Richard there are quite rigeous procedures in place, Make sure you GF knows everthing about your family IE names and ages, where you live etc the ins and outs of a Ducks Arse !!!!! The interviews aren't a walk in the park and the more evidence you supply to the Emabassy concreting your relationship the better !!, When i was trying for my now wife go over to UK for a holiday they wouldn't have any of it eventhough i submitted bank statements, photo's, letters, phone bills etc etc and they rejected us in the first instant ?!!!?, However seems to me that if they have asked your GF to go away and come back you may well have got past the initial and highest hurdle. Not wanting to piss on your chips but you will have to sit tight and wait and see, No doubt your GF will have to go through another interview so get your story straight between you and keep as it was the last time and i'm sure they will let you GF visit you in good old rigid, cold and miserable Angkrit..tee hee.

For your info they never gave my now wife a visitors visa we were offered a six month fiances visa !, Which you do not have to marry after the six months and your GF can return to Thailand with no questions ask, But if you wanted to obtain further visas for your GF then that may raise some questions unless you decide to marry towards the end of the six month visa requirement. This visa seems to be used more as unfortunatley even in this day and age there are still people who's trade is women IE slavery/prostitution. But you guys seem genuine enough and the embassy staff are trained to spot anything dodgy, Also it is down to the discretion of the Visa officer at the time of decision, let's just hope they are in a good frame of mind......For now chock dii, good luck and make sure you stock up on socks and extra jumpers for your GF !!!!!        :D       :o

  3. I just returned from Thai with Khun Wifey and brought back about 15 DVD's and VCD's, A mixture of good old karaoke and movies for me and some buddies, Put them in the bottom of my bag and no problems, And also my numb nut friends didn't tell me their UK DVD's weren't multi region so i've kept them for myself !!! Tee Hee
  4. umm, Sorry for sounding stupid, But for the sake of clarity are these new rules for Employer's only ? Or will it apply to Employees also IE a Teacher employed on a wage of 25,000 baht a month would not meet the new immigration requirements correct ???    ???   :o  After returning from LOS just yesterday after visiting the in-laws with Khun wifey we had a plan ... but if my above thoughts are correct then those plans have been shafted.    ???
  5. You know you've been in T'land to long, when:

    - You wear your crash helmet back to front and perched on top of your head

    - You get your wife, 3 kids, pooch in the front basket and laundry on your moped and then do a Uey to go back and pick up mae-yai as well

    - You wear your helmet as far as the intersection with the cop, then take it off as soon as he's outta sight

    Plachon:

You are obviously living/staying in Issarn because that is *so* spot on!

Talking of Issan... You look forward to the day when that pickup arrives enabling you to exchange a manky flea bitten old mutt who howls all night for nice brand new, well behaved & quiet plastic bucket !!!       ???

Still can't work that one out ...   :o

  6. Once they nicked my 'Loaded' magazine!

Those crafty officers....They must know that Loaded has pictures of quality birds wearing next to nothing, Let's face it they're not gonna be reading any of the stories, I rarely do !!!   :o

  7. I'm with tripxcore on this one, I am the second finest Native English speaker you would ever find !.   :o

Would your company offer the required work permits ?

Is your company Worldwide, Asiawide or just Thailand based ?

What about recruiting people from the UK ?

Can't you give us any idea what this is about !? Come on as per Daz Daz at least give us a peep at your Website, It would save me selling my house in the UK and dragging Khun Wifey and Son 6000 miles to Bangers just to end up delivering Newspapers.........!  I understand your reasons, but giving a little more info would install more interest/confidence.

    ???

  8. Mr Sam,

Maybe the rules and regs differ between the UK & US immigration, But about 2 years ago i managed to get my then G/F a fiance Visa valid for 6 months at Bangkok, Yes there was a whole lot of paperwork involved but we got the Visa within 1 week of applying !  and we subsequently married in the UK.   ???  But it must be different for the U.S.A, How strange !   ???

  9. Daniel,

I will keep this a brief and as informative as possible, Your situation/circumstances may be different to mine, This how did it,

Met my now wife about 4 yrs ago, Visited her many times, wrote letters, Phone calls etc etc, But it would be different for you as you have been residing in Thailand so easier to prove your daily contact.

Visas we recieved over time were 1.) Applied for visiters visa (rejected). 2.) Applied for a 6 month Fiances visa (Recieved) 3.) applied for 1 yr marriage visa (In UK Croydon) (Recieved) 4.) Applied for Leave to remian permanent visa (By post in UK) Recieved.

First visa was a bitch to get they wanted to know the in's and out's of a ducks arse had to provide the following evidence/documents

    - Visa forms completed.

    - Visa fees (expect about 25,000 Baht non refundable if visa request rejected but the give you first screening as a block to see if there is any chance of a Visa in the first instance then you can get your money back)

    - Your docs (Birth-cert)

    - Her docs (Birth cert/House registration) Etc Etc

These need to be translated into English can be done for a few thousand baht.

    - Proof of abode in the UK

    - Proof that we had been in contact (IE letters/Phone bills/Photos)

    - Proof of my UK income/Bank statments & savings

    - Letter of reference from my work

    - Proof of you G/F's employment in Thailand

    - Proof of any income from your G/F

    - Letter of invitation from you stating purpose of stay in UK

    - Marriage cert

You and your g/f should expect to be interviewed on a seperate basis so the story needs to be straight.

Thats about all i can recall.

But not sure how you would get on, I would surmise that it may be easier for if you marry in thailand first then apply and it may well be easier as you have been living in thailand so daily contact with your G/F is a sure cert.

Depending on how long you intend to stay in UK i'm sure you should be lucky, I think they do have a daily/weekly quota of the number of visas accepted but i may be wrong.

Any other questions just keep posting.

    Chok Dii.   :o

  10. Wolf,

An amazing tale !, I have met many Buddhists through Khun Wifey, who have had awful things happen to them (accidents/illness etc etc) They have all held their faith in the Buddha and pulled through some pretty much dead end situations.

Although i am not Buddhist (yet) seems that those who are have the inner strength/peace to help themselves in desperate situations, And the belief is in the protection offered from the Buddah.

Shall we say that Buddah may have blessed you on that day in London.  ???   :o

  11. Meuk,

Depends, You can arrange at both ends, Best to prepay your move. If you need your P/FX in a hurry i would suggest airfreight. However if it is too large for airfreight and you are prepared to wait upto 1 month for shipment time then i would say shipping them is your cheapest option. I wouldn't go to a container line direct as they tend only to deal with the full loads, I would use an International Forwarder who will handle the full monty for your door to door !! These guys would do the booking/packing/delivery even prepare the Bill of Lading for you, There are thousands of fwdrs who have offices in Thailand & UK, I work for the 2nd biggest shipping line in the world P&O Nedlloyd and we do have a Logisitics division who could arrange this move for you, We would ship from Southampton to either Bangkok or Laem Chabang, Website is www.ponl.com and look for ponl Global Logistics, However you should shop around try people like Schenker/Panalpina/Kuehne & Nagel/ Atlantic forwarding who all will have divisions in BKK. These guys would use a host of shipping lines and will shop around to get the best price for you.

    Chok Dii !!   :o

  12. Not sure about cleaning it !! Khun wifey's Buddhism advises against even breathing on her "Mohonzon" (before any dodgy comments it's an ancient Buddhist scroll which hangs in a "Botsudan" (Shrine) If we were to move or go on holiday it has to be de-shrined wearing gloves without breathing on it !!!!  So i guess in all the different forms of Buddhism it depends on how sacred your Buddha is to you and how strong your commitment/Belief is. However as suggested in previous posts i would consult you local friendly Abbot.    ::o:
  13. Could Buddhism be a religious term ?! I mean there are so many different strains of Buddhism i guess you choose the one that most fits you best !? But i think that they all aim in the same direction. Khun Wifey is Buddhist and belongs to a huge Japanese Buddhist organisation. I have looked into what it is all about, attended meetings etc, very interesting, When  i first met my wife she thought that the world was on her shoulders and that everything/everyone was out to get her !! This made her very angry at her family and my family, she already had Buddhism and she was aware that she could and should make use of it !, It wasn't until i discovered that where i live in the UK there is a massive Buddhist communtity which i was unaware of...(I guess that my pereception of Buddhists were all to be Monk like or Soap Dodger types !) My wife was assigned a Guru/Mentor and the change has been radical (for the better) My wife now is very strong willed and seems to be at peace with herself and those around her, This seems to rub off on others as in general we have a very happy household, My wife has strong belief that through her study and chanting for Buddha/herself and others that she and her loved ones are protected by her Buddha . I can't really comment any further as i do not practise myself but i support my wifes belief as it has changed her life and made her realise that she has "life" and is learning the art of living it.

Geez so we have now gone from Porn to Buddhism in one string !! How off topic is that...Sorry for all you out there who were hoping for a porn related post but i'm all porned out !    ???

  14. Again the subject of Hotels, Boring i know, I'm sorry OK !! But every time i'm in Bangers i stay on Soi Kasensom opp National Stadium, and of course as Khun Wifey likes to shop !!!! 3 mins walk to MBK centre...Rooms OK recently updated with cable TV/Phone/A/C, quite swanky Cafe/Bar & Decent size Pool........850 Baht per night + Bkfst based on Double Bed with a single for our young son nice big rooms, quite comfortable...But the price may have increased since last time as it's been nearly one year...   ??? Ummm Freebies errrrrrr i went to a talent contest near the MBK centre once !!entrance was FREE ! I was given a plate of Khaw Phat (FREE) the performers were crap........then it started to piss down....but it was FREE.........Land of the Free !!!
  15. I read this article in the Standard last night, Seems that the TG's were plucked for their paddy fields and told they would  earn as much in one day as they they would in a month in the UK working as cleaners !!! I can only surmise that they obtained Visas based on a false cleaning company set up in the UK by the two Meat counter bints !!!

There was only two pictures in the Evening standard which showed the two women who were running the show. There wasn't any pictures of the victims.

    Sad story.

    :o
