I purchased my home about 8 years ago it was built some 13 years ago with all the approvals from the Mayor's office etc, back in December they started to construct the new Soi after years of erosion buy the rains we get, the road way has dropped at least 12 inches since I purchased the property but the Mayor's office is refusing to help me with this problem and it is such a simple problem to repair. 

I myself am a retired General Contractor so I know what I'm talking about, the road has dropped some 3 feet and it's easy to increase the depth of the side concrete drain walls at light to no cost but the Mayor's office is refusing to help. 

Telling me instead to destroy my driveway and remove the electric gate instead of raising the roadway up to meet the current property height. 

I have been to there office twice only to be lied to and receive No help I'm hoping that people here can offer some advice or help in this matter please look at the photos and ask yourself what would you do in my situation, I'm turning 58 soon and can not climb up 3 feet of wall to enter my home. 

Thailand Immigration officers are making money on their incompedance, on the 6th of July my mother passed away and it was this date that my TR60 double entry was up, as you might understand I did not want to travel but I did go to the Phuket Immigration office and asked for a extention being that I was just plain upset the officer gave me a 90 day extention,, stamped and stapled into my passport, I thanked him and left.

I am opening a new company here and when I showed my passport to my Lawyer he told me I was an overstay with a 20,000baht fine, I unfortunatly on this site can not state the name of the officer but when I went back with a Thai person that can speak English he removed the document very quickly and denied anything to do with this, unfortunatly I copied the document and showed it to him and also my Lawyer and the Thai police all of which know this officer and called him on my behalf, but he just blamed the Falangs that volenteer.

Be very aware that the Phuket Immigration officers have no clue nor do they care if you have to pay 20K overstay fees for their incompetence, be careful.

I understand the warning you are giving and that you did everything possible to remedy the problem, however there few things that do not seem 'to square'.

First of all, if your 60 days had received already a 30 days extension, you could only have obtained a 7 days extension, except truly exceptional circumstances (like being hospitalized).

Second, even if they did everything wrong and now you have to take the burden, your overstay from july 6th (assuming 2014) until e.g. tomorrow would be only 6 days, total 3,000 Bt fine at 500 Bt a day.

Last, when I did my extension in Phuket Town, I noticed that all applications had to get signature/approval by he head of the office, at that time a lady sitting in office most on the back. I could see that because the door to her office was left open. I find strange that the most senior position had not be called to review the matter and he could get away blaming a police volunteer that doesn't have any power or any stamp.

Sorry it was June 6th not July and to let people know they have now changed the way things are done you no longer have to fill out the extention forms they now put it onto a computer and print out the extention form which brings me to another question, Why is it that the computer does not bring up a warning or tell the officer to inform the person sitting in front of them that they must leave or face an over stay????? it would seem to me that would be the smart way of doing it, I will be leaving soon but I hope the copied document showing the Immigration mistake will stop me from getting locked up and ripped off.

Think of all the money that will be lost. This doesn't seem like a good idea. Taking money out of an economy rarely makes it grow. Strange.

Actually that will have Thailand make money. Overstay fees, visa fees, immigration fees, money wired in, ED courses, visa trips and all the related expenses one sustains in relation to maintaining legal status.

And some guys marrying just for the purpose of staying. You know which is the direction of the money flow in these cases.

I recall the post. It was a mediator of some sort and if that failed then it would proceed to court.

I remember reading about 2-3 months ago there was a post regarding people going to the new Tourist court in Phuket and having things taken care of, also on the same post someone put up the name of an organisation that helped people that had been cheated out of money, they would contact the person or company and try to help in the return of money if they were unable to do so they would help in the courts, if anyone can remember this or knows what this organisation is called please let me know,,,, PS no I didn't dream this I saved it but computer crashed.

I am not an American but I did live there for 17 years, I have lived here for 6 years, in relation to males and females comitting a crime I believe firmly in the rule,,,If you can't do the time then don't do the crime,, but there is a major difference between Thailand and the US and that is education,, In the US students are given sex education in schools but not here??? why not??? maybe if Thailand spent some more money on sex education and free condoms, their would not be so many women needing to comit criimes to take care of their babies and family,, these people are desparate for money and unlike the US they do not get free money from the GOV.

I gather you are not an admirer and do not believe his story. However it is for the court to decide if his 'cock & bull' story is believable. They will examine witnesses and also listen to his account. If he is found guilty then I would be in favour of the harshest possible penalty.

I am as appalled by this whole matter as the posters on this site, and for once can understand the harshness of many comments. BUT it has often been said on this forum that people are judged by the press and the Thai system before they have had a fair trial, and that that is not justice. Whatever the feelings it is hypercritical of posters to want 'fairness' in many cases outlined on this forum, yet happily condemn before trial in this case. Let the trial be held and give him his chance to put his case. If he is found guilty I will be amongst those on this forum who wish him the worst possible future.
