Went Shopping today...
MBK...bag controls are symbolic at least...
Siam Centre...sporadic controls
Paragon...VERY GOOD control by friendly and caring security
Lets hope, even it is annoying that security is tightened the next days until they catch those criminals

Just received a phone call from a friend in Isaan. He said that in
UBON RATCHATHANI three bombs had been detected by the police.
Rumour is not confirmed yet. Can anybody give more information???
There have been previous false bomb reports from Ubon so probably just rumor based on them.
I really hope that it was a false bomb alarm. Other friends from Isaan speak also now of a bomb which should have been found, but again, even they are sure, it might be very much false rumours. Exactly that kind of fear those government terrorists want to acchieve

Let's hope it was a false alarm and that security will be tight around every shopping centre with mandatory bag controls at the entrance. Yes, I know it stinks, but unless they catch those criminals it is necessary

What about the Sukhumvit soi 62 bombing? Was it the start of a new series? Is it quiet now?

Sorry not being able to tell you much about if the consulate in HKK is helpful or not...but if you go to HKK on your honeymoon and it is a nice and sunny day, go to OCEAN PARK, it is really worth it. Forget the mickey mouse crap.
Happy Honey MOON

Four months ago we hired a mee baan who was recommanded to us locally. Her husband is a Khon Motorsei and regularily did deliveries for us. I live in the Sathorn Area.
It was agreed that the mee baan will get a salary of 7000 baht working 6 days a week and not living in our house. Usually she was supposed to work 8 hours a day, but soon it came down to 5 hours as she was keeping up a second job. (As we found out a massage job in Patpong)
One day before Mother's Day she phoned in sick which brought quite some stress to us, having the big family from Isaan coming to their half-yearly-visit. The day after I came down with a serious Dengee-Fever-Infection and was critical for a few days. By monday the Mee Baan hadnt returned to work and when phoned she just gave a snappy answer saying that we can keep our money, she wont work anymore.
Two days later when I returned from a checkup at the hospital (with the house locked of course while I was out) I noticed that my mobile phone was missing. I thought I might have misplaced it. Two days later when I was strong enough to resume work I noticed that my new laptop was missing as well.
We asked her to come over immediately but she only sent her husband. They still owed us 3000 baht from an advance we had given to them, but he told us he cannot pay it back now. When asked about the mobile phone and the missing laptop, he handed back the house keys to us, saying that of course he has no idea where our stuff is, but handed us back the house key. I was able to get a photocopy of his ID card and the one of his wife.
I called the tourist police who refused to come to our house and interview the motorbike guy. They just told us to come by the next days and file a report, which we are going to do tomorrow.
This was now the second time we had stolen items by a mee baan. The first one "only" stole money and cloth. Two times Thai staff who worked in my company also have stolen some material. The reaction was always zero. Nobody gave a ###### shit.
I am very upset not only by the theft but by the treatment. The police told us on the phone that we have to accept that most likely the laptop or mobile phone cannot be retrieved but as we are farangs, surely our american insurance (WE ARE NOT EVEN AMERICANS!) will pay for it.
I have been living here for almost two years and in those two years, I am sorry to say, my perception of Thai people has changed entirely, being constantly lied and cheated.
WHAT CAN I DO IN THE SITUATION REGARDING THE THEFT?
thanks for allowing me to share my story

Living in Thailand for over a year now on a Long Term Visa paired with a work permit as I have set up my own company here.
Now time has come to renew the long term visa. I am contemplating to combine it with a holiday in Bali but there are not many information if the Thai Consulate in Denpassar is issuing the Long Term Visa Extensions.
Anybody got some news or experience on that? Would be highly appreciated
thanks

Just to give a clear answer to all the questions about opening a bank account in Thailand.
I have been today (after I read all the posts in this forum) been to Bangkok Bank, Head Office in Silom asking for a bank account.
Beside the staff speaking English there it was a quick and straightforward process.
I was able to get a saving account with VISA creditcard function and ATM (daily withdrawal limit 150.000 but after telephone inquiry, which is automatic up to 500.000 baht) within 20 minutes on my TOURIST VISA.
With a 1 year visa I will be able to get Internet Banking.
Hope this post was helpful

Hi!
I am looking for a real professional tatoo artist in Bangkok. One who does not just copy a stupid design onto your body hoping to finish the job before lunchtime.
I am still searching for a good artist with creative ideas. No problem for paying more as it is a good investment for life!
thanks!

What if you live in Thailand ?
You may find it hard to sell as your postal costs will be prohibitive many people in their home countires will be selling the same that they have carried home or shipped sea frieght then sell. People who buy from you wil not wanr to wait if you send surface.
I sell gemstones, sent in neutral padded envelopes via registered airmail, some via Fedex, EMS...so no problem with shipping fees, even earn on them a bit

If you follow some simple rules it shouldnt be any legal problem
Have your ebay account registered in another country than thailand (best one where there is no income tax)
Have a paypal account in your home country linked to a bank account there
You can still live in Thailand on a tourist visa
After an auction ends, the winner pays to the paypal account where the money is transfered to your home bank account
You buy your goods in Thailand (tourist shopping) and send them after a succesful auction to the winning bidder (mark them as gift or sample)...dont see a legal problem sending gifts to my friends all over the world...moreover, who can check it if you mail it from the local post office?
You need money...Withdraw it with a credit card cash advance at almost any bank in Thailand and reinvest it.
The point is that the payment for the goods never enters Thailand. You are a tourist and buy goods here and send them away to people all over the world as gift or sample.
The cash advances are for your living expenses
Do I get something wrong?
