Hated Bangladesh International airport.More a large hut really.

Decided to get off my arse and join this forum simply because it's so active and it seems you're pretty much sure of an instant response on any topic that you care to raise.

Definitely need a permit.Your local builders yard or lumbar merchant should have one so you could go and ask to borrow theirs for a while if your on good relations.

Sounds like lots of hassle to import,rather poodle around in an old heap.

Can get a hill mynah from up North locally for about 1000 baht.Very intelligent birds and the children love them for their mimicry.

I can say without fear that i have no regrets,although big green rolling hills would be nice.

My Toyota does 14 kpl and i feel safe in it as opposed to a car where you are so low down relative to the maniacs in their trucks.

Here in sunny Si Rattana they go for about 10000 baht,i guess because we are so far from civilisation.

Koh Chang is the place to go and chill out with a few cobbers.Get there before they turn it into another Samui/Pattaya !!

Travel so frequently back to NZ that i usually only have hand luggage and so no worries about lost luggage.That said i've probably tempted fate and my hand luggage will go walkabout.

O well,looks like i'll have to get off my butt and sort out an IDP.Thanks for the advice.

Stayed at Big Snake Guesthouse once myself and it must be the worst Guesthouse in Nong Khai.It claims to be a Resort on its web-site and yet it is a tiny piece of bare land with a couple of buildings on it and not a lush garden it sight.I got the courage to ask how the owner could call it a resort and he said bluntly "that's what the locals call it" The locals are so poor anything is posh.Phon phisai has to be the dullest place on earth.I like quiet but it has nothing to see or do and you have to trek to get any food from a roadside vendor.The guesthouse has no restaurant.

I would normally stay at Mutmee or the Meeting Place.Mutmee Guesthouse is in my opinion the best guesthouse in Nong Khai for all its facilities and local amenities.

Get stopped by the police all the time and just show them my standard New Zealand license.

I always fly Eva Air now as the food is absolutely amazing and the service fantastic.They never stop bringing drinks and the cabins are spotless.
