  1. I have a notarized stamp on my degree from the British Embassy in 2016.  In 2017 a solicitor from the UK also officially notarized it.

I have been told I need a second stamp from the Thai consulate before I can apply for a Non Imm B visa.  They have said the 2016 certificate and stamp is now out of date and I need a new one.  Previously I could send this off to Bk and get it back shortly after but I've since been told this is now not available and I have to send the entire lot back to the UK, to Milton Keynes and then onto the UK/Thai Embassy to get the stamp.

However, I have also been told I can still get this document from Thailand directly but nobody seems to know where or how.

From the details I have provided above does anybody know the exact procedure I need to take?  Ideally I wish to get this one document (the degree stamped by the British Embassy) as painlessly and quickly as possible.  I am paying a hefty fee to get the Non Imm B visa and I was hoping this would cover everything but it appears that my workplace are insisting on this second stamp by the Thai consulate before applying and the only way the consulate will give me this stamp is by obtaining this document that I already got in 2016.

    Many thanks

  2. Just got an update from agency in BKK.  They need all this....

If you would like to go to China for travelling and apply for tourist visa, you need to prepare document as below:
    1. Original Passport (6 months remaining/ 2 blank pages)
    2. Visa Application form v.2013 (you can download on www.visaforchina.org or come to get at our center)
    3. Two photo with 2 inches in white background (formal dress) ,your both ears need to be shown, take off your earring, glasses , hat and no smiling.
    4. Photocopy of your passport on a data page
    5. Photocopy of previous Chinese visa (the last one, if you have been to China before)

    7. 8. Original and photocopy of work permit (for foreigner who work in Thailand)
     9. Work certificate from your company/employer in Thailand (for foreigner who work in Thailand)
    10. Flight ticket (round trips) **( you can stay in China not over 30 days for each times)
    11. Hotel reservation or an invitation letter (from you friend in China)

    I can get 1-7.
    8 and 9 doesn't apply.
10 and 11. I won't have as I am staying there and moving onto a Z visa when its set up.

Any advice?  How about reverting to the F visa?
I have an invite from my employer.
  3. Guangzou is where I'm flying to.

I will be working there on a Z visa once the WP is processed.  If I travelled over before the Z visa is processed and stayed for 3 days without the visa, what would I need to do in China if the WP isn't processed in time?

Also, do you know if a tourist visa issued from Thailand will differ from one issued from the UK?  May sound odd but with visa requirements I always try and spot a trip wire.

    Thanks

  4. UPDATE:  So I took the stuff to the post office here to send away and they said they no longer sell postage vouchers for the Thai Embassy to return with.  I therefore sent it to my father-in-law to send from Thailand.  He contacted the RTP today and they said you cannot send it from Thailand but have to visit in person.  My question is, how on earth can I get this CRB returned if the P.O here won't sell vouchers, as required, and they won't process via the Thai post?  What is the difference between processing and sending back if someone sends from abroad and sending in Thailand with S.A.E?

Any ideas on how to do this would be greatly appreciated.

  5. I have a Thai Criminal Record Check from 2006 to 2015 which I obtained in 2015.  I now need to update the record or have it checked from 2015 until now.

Do I need to reapply for a whole new check or can I contact the RTP with my file number and simply get an update?  I am now based in the UK so what are my options?

I contacted the Thai consular here and they referred me to the RTP in Thailand again.

I am assuming that since you only get one check done and should you change jobs out there the new employer can simply use your certificate and file number to contact the RTP and ask directly for an update, as the DBS in the UK is done should you obtain the additional update service.  Alternatively all of us would have to get a new check done every time we want a new visa.

    Please advise on this situation.

    Thanks.

  6. So, I'm attempting to do this for my 7 month old son next month. I have my birth certificate, my son's plus the translation. I understand we don't need to show the marriage cert if he's under a certain age. Both mine and my wife's passports plus the UK citizen who will testify to my son's likeness. 2 passport sized photos both signed by the afore mentionned.

I will get my wife's BC translated also but I haven't been advised about her proof of residence plus translation. Is that a certainty? We have our housing contract.

    Thanks

  7. Thanks Tony. I'm trying to work this out but it's somewhat confusing. I've been working here for the past 12 months but the annual income would be around 14-15k. I can show that my savings have been there or thereabouts for that time also, around 50k. I can also provide a job offer from the UK staring as soon as I get back.

    Would this be insufficient therefore?

What would be your advice on how to proceed? A tourist visa to give myself the time to show 6 months of UK salary combined with my savings whilst my wife is with me then go for the settlement?

    Many thanks again.

  8. This is what I found. By the sounds of your replies it suggests I've got it mixed up. Does this apply only for the salary requirements therefore, regardless of my savings?

I'm just looking for some assistance as to what all of this means or what my options are. I'm short of the 62.5k and not earning a UK salary. To me this seemed like a viable route but if it's not please let me know my other option if any. Thanks again.

    4. In respect of a job offer in the UK (for an applicant's partner or parent's partner returning to salaried employment in the UK at paragraphs E

    -

    ECP.3.2.(a) and E

    -

    ECC.2.2.(a) of Appendix

FM) a letter from the employer must be provided:

    (a) confirming the job offer, the gross annual salary and the starting date of the employment which must be within 3 months of the applicant's partner's return to the UK;

    or

    (B) enclosing a signed contract of employment, which must have a starting date within 3 months of the applicant's partner's return to the UK

  9. Good morning,

Can anyone give me some assistance on how I could use my savings figure with a job offer from the UK to get my wife a settlement visa please?

I have a good amount in the bank (50K) but it isn't 62.5k. I've been working in Thailand so I can't show the 18.5k salary requirement.

I have been advised that I can use my savings amount and a job offer from the UK together to satisfy the requirements.

If so, has anyone had any success with this route or know how strict the guidelines are? I will be working in the UK upon return with a friend who has a building and maintenance company. I can easily get him to put in writing the job offer, contract and prospective salary if that's what is needed.

    Thanks in advance.

  10. Is that all you can offer Crab? You must be pretty bored to troll around making pointless comments.

We've always used the postal service to send stuff back and forth and when my cousin moved to Hua Hin he rented a pickup with a driver. I've never heard of the service Pianoman has mentinonned that's why I'm asking for his help.

  11. The town we currently live in has Big C, Robinson the lot but unless you're into either shopping or spending all day long in an A/C coffee shop with free wi-fi there's still nothing much to do.

Pianoman, I'd appreciate any numbers you could message me with concerning moving our stuff up here. I'd like to get that sorted as soon as we can.

Again, thanks for all the help.

  12. Yep, thoughts of family involvement have crossed my mind which is one of the primary reasons we'll rent for 6 months - 1 year first. I get on really well with them, it's the GF that doesn't always! They're a good bunch on the whole and we've made it clear from the start that they need to respect our privacy. Whether they do is part of the course I guess. If they do great, if they don't so be it.

I've only been for a week at a time so again we'll rent first to be sure.

Yep, I have a job lined up which hopefully will occupy my week.

Like I say, I've had my cut of city life in Thailand and it's not for me. I'm London born and bred and love big cities but I'm happiest in a quiet, peaceful environment where getting to work won't ruin your whole morning.

If all goes well I'll be there either last week of October or mid-November.

I forgot to say that I'm getting married on November 30th at the Rimpao hotel! Don't do thing by half us cockneys!!
