  1. We are moving to the Khorat area ( 1-1/2 hours from Khroat to a small Town, )

When we enrolled my step daughter ia a small private school the principal of the school asked me if I would be willing to " help out " teaching English to the childresn ( 4-10 year old's ) The principal said it would be good for the children to hear a Native English Speaker, and talk to the children . I would be doing it purely on a voluntary basis with no form of payment made to myself , it would be for Two - Three hours a week. , The thing I am concerned about , would my voluntry help be considerd as " working " ...? . The last thing I want is to move to a new location and find myself in trouble with the Immigration !!, , but on the other hand The Principal of the school was very enthusiastic about having a Native English Speaker to talk to her students, but I don't really want to say no and start off in our new location upsetting some one who seem's to be of a " high" standing with the local community.

If I asked the princial to write out a letter stating that I am only doing some voluntary un paid help for Two - Three hours a week, would Immigration accept that...? or does some one have any other ideas , as I would really like to help the school, and start off on the right foot with the new community.

    Thanks........

Ps sorry if this is in the wrong forum section

  3. Thanks, Roscoe,

The Land is my wifes, and I get on great with all her family, who after knowing them for 4 years they have been nothing but kind to me , and never once asked for any financial assistance. my main concern would be my step daughter, ( at 56 ive never had children of my own ) and seeing that my step daughter get's a good education and all the help I can provide her means a lot to me, its just the un known possibility's that could pop out of the wood work should my wife die before my self , that would in some way stop me from assisting my step daughter ( who I think of as my own ) with her future education Etc...

  4. Last Week I went with my Thai wife to see her parents, in a small village about 2 hours from Khroat, we were sitting out side the house one after noon when I heard a pick up comming down the Soi with a loud speaker shouting at full volume , not that unusual I thought, as the pick up came nearer the sound of howling dogs became loud, as the pick up came closer I could see it had a large cage built over the back , inside the cage there were may be 20 dogs, and stacked on top of the cage were row's of cheap black plastic buckets. I said to my wife what's going on here is it the local council removing the stray dogs from the soi..? No she said glancing at the pick up, its the " bucket " man.

What do you mean the " bucket " man.... ? Oh he comes to the village and you can give him your dog, and he gives you a free bucket !!!!. . Well it took a few seconds for it to sink in, just what she ment, Where do the dog's go to I asked...? The man takes them to Laos .

No one else even looked at the bucket man's pick up, as the wailing cargo trundled on down the Soi.

  5. Thanks .... ajahnlau,

Its only a small house we are building, but the thought of being thrown out say if my wife dies first, and then her Family want's me out ( I have a step daughter from her first marriage , ) leaves me with a bad feeling, I know the old saying if you can't afford to loose it and then walk away , don't do it, but it would be nice to know that if some thing did happen to my wife, and I was left to bring up my step daughter we would have a roof over our heads..?

may be I am just over reacting ...?

    Thanks ..... Mumbo.

  8. A survey conducted by PC Pro Magazine has revealed that many Britons are unhappy with their internet service.

They are fed up with slow speeds, high prices and the level of customer service they receive.

17% of readers have switched suppliers and a further 16% are considering changing in the near future.

It is particularly bad news for BT, the UK's biggest internet supplier, with almost three times as many people trying to leave as joining.

    Problems switching

A third of the 2,000 broadband users interviewed were fed up with their current providers but this could be just the tip of the iceberg thinks Tim Danton, editor of PC Pro Magazine.

"We expect these figures to leap in 2005. Every month the prices drop, and more and more people are trying to switch," he said.

The survey found that BT and Tiscali have been actively dissuading customers from leaving by offering them a lower price when they phone up to cancel their subscription.

Some readers were offered a price drop just 25p more expensive than that offered by an alternative operator, making it hardly worth while swapping.

    Rip off

Other found themselves tied into 12-month contracts.

Broadband has become hugely competitive and providers are desperate to hold on to customers.

12% of those surveyed found themselves unable to swap at all.

"We discovered a huge variety of problems, but one of the biggest issues is the current supplier withholding the information that people need to give to their new supplier," said Tim Danton, editor of PC Pro.

"This breaks the code of practice, but because that code is voluntary there's nothing we or Ofcom can do to help," he said.

There is a vast choice of internet service providers in the UK now and an often bewildering array of broadband packages.

With prices set to drop even further in coming months Mr Danton advises everyone to shop around carefully.

"If you just stick with your current connection then there's every chance you're being ripped off," he warned.

    SURVEY AT A GLANCE

17% have switched suppliers during 2004

    16% considering switching soon

    12% unable to switch

Users offered cheaper prices if they want to swap

    Providers withholding vital information.

and I thought we had problems here............ ?

  9. Just been to Pattaya Immigration to do my Extension of one year marriage visa , for the second Year

This is what the Immigration wanted us to give them...

    A. Bank Pass book + 2 photocopys ( showing 400,000Baht or more )

    B. Bank letter showing bank account amount + 2 photocopys

    C. 2 X TM7 forms

    H. 4 Photographs showing my self and wife together

    I. 2 maps showing how to get to our house.

    J. application fee of 1,900 Baht

    K. Our Home telephone number.

all the photocopys had to be signed by us both, This amount of paper work etc was the same we had to show on our first year, So I asked the desk Immigration officer why is it necessary to show the same paper work in the second year as in the first, and will the Immigration be calling at our house to see us as they did in the first year..?

He said Bangkok had asked them to now collect the same paper work no mattar what year the application was, As for the immigration calling to see us he said he did not know , we then sat infront of the same officer as last year the only question he asked us this time was how much rent we pay for the house, ( this Officer was the same one who came to see us at our house last year ) I remember the first time we sat in front of Him , he seemed to be very Offical and not helpful at all, this time he greeted us with a smile, and how are you ..!!. I don't know if any one else has got the same feeling as myself, but the whole place seem's a bit more friendiler ...? The officer stamped my passport and I have to go back in one month's time.

It will be intresting to see if infact the Immigration do call to see us again, but as we all know when you get involved with the immigration department always expect the un expected !!!,

  12. Police are warning all men who frequent clubs, parties

and local pubs to be alert and stay cautious when

offered a drink from any woman. Many females use a

date rape drug on the market called "Beer".

The drug is found in liquid form and available

anywhere. It comes in bottles, cans, from taps and in

large "kegs". "Beer" is used by female sexual

predators at parties and bars to persuade their male

victims to go home and have sex with them. A woman

needs only to get a guy to consume a few units of

"Beer" and then simply ask him home for no strings

attached sex. Men are rendered helpless against this

approach. After several "Beers", men will often

succumb to the desires to perform sexual acts on

horrific looking women whom they would never normally

    be attracted.

After drinking "Beer", men often awaken with only

hazy memories of exactly what happened to them the

night before, often with just a vague feeling that

"something bad" occurred. At other times these

unfortunate men are swindled out of their life's

savings, in a familiar scam known as "a relationship."

In extreme cases, the female may even be shrewd enough

to entrap the unsuspecting male into a longer term

form of servitude and punishment referred to as

    "marriage".

Men are much more susceptible to this scam after

"Beer" is administered and sex is offered by the

    predatory females.

Please forward this warning to every male you know.

If you fall victim to this "Beer" and the women

administering it, there are male support groups where

you can discuss the details of your shocking encounter

with similarly affected like-minded guys. For the

support group nearest you, just look up "Golf Courses"

    in the phone book. .
