You judge the popularity of your country by the long waiting lines at the US embassy in Thailand? Then why ever morning at the American Embassy their are long lines of people who want to come to this country. Answer that. We must be doing something right.
I see those long waiting lines (outside on the street in the sun) as a sign of mismanagement.
Just like the lines outside the Apple store when a new Iphone comes out you call that mismanagement as well? lol High demand for a product or service is bound to create lines.

Would be nice if this did happen

What is the point of this article really? Just a rant from some idiot want to be journalist trying to get some attention. US and EU have the same stance on the current political situation in Thailand. Yes, the United States has problems as does nearly every country in the world. Last time I checked our military wasn't fooled into overthrowing a democratically nominated government.
Comparing the United States to Thailand is a joke as well. The United States has so much more geopolitical responsibility than little Thailand that nobody really gives a crap about on a global scale.
Don't throw rocks in a glass house. Get a functioning government before you try talking Sh*t.

Nice work Army. When you do things illegally its bound to come back and get you.

All my local noodle stands have no staff. I asked one of the operators last night why this was. She said she hires Cambodians and Burmese and they all left because they are scared of the gov.

Wow.. 6,100 students. That's a BIG school! Lucky they all didn't contract it.
I am curious at where you read 6100 students.
There are roughly 5000 students enrolled in the school I used to work there. Well over 100 foreign teachers.

they don't drink bottled ozonated water? i've never heard of a school (or any institution) that supplies drinking water from underground tanks???
Bottled water is available for teachers and students but most of the students that were effected were the younger section of students where only a drinking fountain is provided which contained the contaminated water.
-
The school knew about this for a few weeks before doing anything. Several students and teachers had to be admitted to the hospital for a few days as a result. They have now replaced the tanks to above ground and have run in a fresh line from the city lines to the tanks. The cause of the problem was an older building within the school grounds that supposedly is sinking (17 story building).
Hopefully other schools check their tanks and try to fix this problem quicker then BCC so students and staff don't end up in the hospital.

They just want more bribe money plane and simple. Let's hope they don't just focus on Sukhumvit and the foreign owned bars but if they really want to cause problems start shutting down Thong Lo, Ekkamai, RCA, Ratchada promptly at 1am see how long that lasts. Last time I checked Whip Ekkamai and Safehouse are all opened late and frequented by the sons and daughters of these corrupt cops.
Simple Economics though if bars are going to have to pay more brides then they will raise the prices of these already expensive venues driving away customers.
I doubt anything will come of this.

Let me get this straight... the cops ran away after what seems like a justified shootout?? People were shooting at them from the backseat of the car why wouldn't they return fire?
Crazy Thailand and just goes to show you the Thai Police are a joke.

Knock it down! Total disregard for building practices and very dangerous at that.

I hope this takes off and runs all those taxi and tuk tuk drivers out of business. In the past I loved going to Phuket but haven't been in over three years because of all the headaches it now has. This could easily solve the first big one when you get off the plane.

These two guys are complete idiots, however how much has the Red Bull kid have to pay for killing a ranking police office with his car??? Oh that's right he's still in his mansion never spending one day in jail or hasn't paid any fine outside of tr compensation to the family. Can you say double standard for foreigners?? How much of that 5million went into the pockets of polices pockets is a good question probably all of it.

Hilarious these guys are pressed now they can't rip off unsuspecting tourists. Cry me a river about time someone regulates the Phuket taxi service. The crazy prices these taxis want to charge is one of the reasons I avoid Phuket like the plague.

This is a pipe dream it will never happen. As mentioned the short distance makes no sense at all. I could see one to Chiang Mai but the amount of riders don't support a billion dollar project like that. These are not like cities in China that have millions of inhabitants in a close radius to the train stations.
It is just a pipe dream that will get funding to do "research" and line some government officials pockets then it will be called off after they get millions in payouts. Just corrupt Thailand being corrupt no surprise.
-
Probably no maintenance in all the years they have been in operation. Some of those older train carriages could use a little TLC.
