  1. For one - motorcycles ARE NOT supposed to over take cars, they are supposed to stay in the left lane.

Secondly if the car in front has indicators on to turn right, then who in their right mind over takes a car turning right - the bike is supposed to be in the left lane and undertakes cars, not permitted to overtake usually.
And even if he was permitted to overtake - NOT WHEN a vehicle is turning right!

Some muppets on this forum that dont have a clue, or just love trolling.

Finally - Never say sorry after an accident - in Thailand you say that you may as well say ill pay for everything even though your wrong. Stand your ground!

I was in a bizarre accident in Bangkok a few years back - a truck was doing a U Turn and couldnt maker it all the way around so ended up blocking the road. I wasnt going to wait around so i started to overtake the truck far right lane, however the truck started to reverse, i braked, the truck didnt see me and reversed over my car with me still in it. We both blocked the entire 3 lanes and it was chaos. The driver and his wife got out and both started threatening me - we went to the police station with me feeling i wasnt going to win this, as i probably should have been more patient and waited for this truck to finish his 3 point turn in the middle of the express way.

Anyways, i ended up winning the case, police decided it in the police station, and truck had to pay to fix my car which only had government insurance, not even 3rd part insurance. The reason i won is because i kept quiet was polite never said sorry, and the police came to the conclussion the truck was bigger than me, so he should have been more careful to smaller vehicles.

That last line is what the OP should be careful about, when a car hits a bike they are bigger vehicles and some police regard that as a penalty against you.
    Goodluck!

  2. LOL dream on Thailand - Corruption runs in the blood here - you honestly think a pink manual will change that? you honestly think they wont make up excuses as to why they cant adhere to rules? or go on a mass strike, or slow the system down purposely until it collapses because they didnt have it on their terms, or yes they enforce the rules for a month and then forget about it a month later. the true Thai way!
Try getting safety on the roads sussed out first before trying to recreate the wheel - i think its more important!

  3. if he shows a valid proof of purchase reciept and also goes to look at the import duty on clubs, he can fight for a cheaper import tax.
He will also need to pay 7% vat and tax on the cost of items plus shipping plus insurance plus tea money plus clearing.,

  4. i drive an automatic with both feet, one over the brakes and one over the accelerator.
I know in Thailand they teach you to just use one foot, but i think thats dangerous and slower reaction times to go from one pedal to the other, plus yes you can get your shoes sole caught on the pedal or between the pedals... It does ache a little more but has saved me from many an accident when some fool brakes without any brake lights in front of me.

  5. is that a Joke????
Thailand has the highest import tax for Luxury brands in the World!!! 40% import tax on makeup and 20% import tax on hair products,,,
That does NOT include VAT at 7%
Also does not include the corruption charges and tea money importers have to pay the Customs Mafia or risk losing their cargo.

Sorry Thailand you are deluded - you are actually the worst place in the world to buy quality luxury items... or import products into
You cannot even operate FEDEX or TNT ot dhl WITHOUT ripping every customer off and are without a doubt the worst in SE Asia in my opinion.

But great to buy crap and knock of fakes from the street. Dont over inflate your ego just because you have lots of malls with over priced Chinese junk in them that look expensive because the malls are glossy.

  6. For a start condoms should be available in all toilets via vending machines - and stop putting them right next to the door in Seven elevens where the entire staff and everyone queing up can make Thai people too shy to buy without getting snubbed by the girls behind the counter. Just those 2 simple acts of common sense will probably half the problem instantly.
FACT - boys are shy to buy condoms

FACT - thai boys are 10 time more shy than westerners to buy condoms..

  7. As someone who interviews Thais daily trying to find staff - i can tell you 90% dont give a toss if they get work or not. they are the laziest people ive ever met in my life.
Yesterday i hired a maid - the 8th one now.
I offered her 900 baht for a days work, way above normal rates but i was desperate to find a good one.
She arrived late at 10am, she left at 4.30 pm.
All i asked was that she wash the floors twice and clean only a few rooms.
The place was dirtier than before she came.
I asked why she hadnt cleaned the floor same i wanted? her reply was she couldnt find the light switch?

Just one example of many many many...

Students granted are more excited about their first job, one of my best staff is 22 year old and these days anyone older than 28 i cant be bothered with. they have ego problems or are constantly on the take or have the inability to learn. Ive never in all my life worked with an such an incompetent race of people, and ive worked in mexico before this, its unbelievable here. utterly!

  8. This is not about whats good for Bangkok - its simply about selling the land some rich Thais owned and passed down to their sons for inheritance. Its also what 99% of everyone reading this forum would do if they were to be given land. gee should i sell it and make millions or should i preserve the street vendors koi tiaw and pad tai vendors? hmmmm let me think?

  9. Funny but Thais have pretty much got the UK, aussies and whoever else thinks they are better than them by the balls. If they want to brush the case under the table they can, if they want to hide info so as not to taint tourism they can and they bloody well will, because if they didnt they would be damaging their image. So if the UK call up Thai police system and start ranting, the Thais will just agree agree then have a scoff and get back to doing their tea money scam, something that pays the bills. Why? because they can and have been doing it since Thais were Thai. Why change now? You dont seriously think David cameron can threaten Thailand with a ban on tourism or exports? just because thailand has a corrupt and lazy culture? what sense would that make?

I mean just read this: this is what happens when Thai police officers are disciplined lol - they get transferred, probably to a easier job with the same pay.

  10. A very grey Area indeed - 15 years old over here is basically a consenting adult. Many thai families wouldnt even bat an eyelid when the same behaviour goes on here. In fact its normal here, and people have been marrying and having sex after the age of 15 or 16 since the beginning of time. However its illegal in the UK but they probably did love each other, she certainly wasnt exploited as she chose to do it. however she may well have exploited the teacher to get her payout and her name in the mirror. who knows!

When i was in school in the UK - my best friend was 15 years old and she had a 25 year old boyfriend - also her parents completely allowed it to happen, they ended up living together, she got pregnant, they married, they lived happily ever after. Was he a pedo? absolutely not. he was a normal guy who respected her and treated her like an adult. which is why her parents accepted it.

just sayin! Grey area at the age of 15 - girls Western generally mature a lot more.

However i have seen thai 15 year olds here that look like 8 year olds and act like 5 year olds - thats feels wrong but to Thais seemingly not. 22 year olds all date 14 year old girls here, and it seems accepted.

  11. Its quite a dilema isnt it? I mean Chinese culture is very rich, they have always looked to be honorable and well disciplined race, with etiquete and wisdom. yet somewhere along the last few centuries Consumerism and Capitalism has destroyed them. (Much the same as British culture i guess - i mean Chavs and a terrible spoken English and Brits misbehaving on holiday - its exactly the same) what happened to these 2 great nations?

One thing i know about the Chinese, many are lower educated and have suddenly become rich, perhaps factory owners or have made a fortune on ebay. So now they have climbed up the financial ladder and are showing off. treating everyone as if they are beneath them because they have enough money to travel next door and stay in a 3 star hotel LOL.

  12. Ill be honest with you - the dream is nothing like the reality.
If you are unhappy with your wife, then yes consider leaving her,
As far as hooking up with a Thai goes, you need to learn a whole new book of rules over here my friend.

Number 1, never borrow money or fund any projects a Thai may have, seriously. If they work already and you have retied, why spoil that?
Enjy your free time at home and see your new friend after she finishes work. dont become the gullible sponsor farang.
Thais have money and can survive here, in many cases much better than we can in the West, they certainly dont starve and their idea of work is nothing compared to ours. they have loads of holidays and never break a sweat hardly. So just keep whats mine is mine, and your is yours. And enjoy spending your hard earned cash on what matters. yourself!
