You should check with your local immigration office. Some offices may say they cannot do them which is not correct.

You could apply for the 60 day extension of a visa exempt entry. You wife will have to be with you when you apply.

It is also possible to apply for a 30 day extension of your visa exempt entry.

Thanks again ubonjoe.  From the links you provided I can see I should be able to extend under S15 and also apply for visa with min. 15 days entry left.  I couldn't see any number of days against these requests.  I'll pick this up with the local immigration but just to confirm my understanding before going ahead:

    i) 30 days extension available as standard request on visa exemption (60 days possible if they accept extension for supporting/visiting spouse)

ii) initial Non O will only be 90 days and then I apply for 1 year extension (400k for 2 months min. then required for extension)

[iii) per above, I admit I can't remember my 2012 visa process precisely(!) but looks to be basically the same as Visa Extension but swapping 4 photos of wedding/family for the photos of living together in the house and including the Embassy letter for being able to marry.  Again, I'll see if Uthai have a local list of TM87 requirements.]

Thanks again for your help! ????

  2. Thanks @ubonjoe ????

Looking at that list I should be able to apply for Non O at Uthai within 15 days left of the visa waiver, also just 400k at time of applying (no seasoning)?  That would be perfect, I'd like to take the wife to Sing and also avoid an embassy if possible!

Could I clarify the 60 day extension pls.  I've just transferred my Dec 2012 visa to a brand new passport - no other entries except landing in Bkk in July - and apart from the annual extensions I only had two single re-entry permits (to UK) in the old passport.  Does that mean I could extend a visa waiver by 60 days for visiting my wife (extension of temp stay under S15?)?  Main benefit being that would give me ample time to apply for the visa if necessary (the wife has a serious illness and goes to Bkk hospital regularly).

    Thanks again!

  3. Details;  UK, 46, visa 2012, Non O (family ie Thai wife)

My 6th extension has been refused (technicality on bank account).  My previous visa extension has lapsed and I was told whilst waiting for Christmas Day lunch that I would have to leave the country by 2 Jan.

I’m out of the loop as to latest requirements, would really appreciate some help while I check the following:

    Tourist Visa

    • intended to go to Singapore where my wife has a friend to visit, limited accounts on here regarding Singapore embassy, primarily bad reports in 2014

    • anyone have more recent feedback?  Singapore embassy quotes up to 1-2 weeks for a visa (as well as electronic submission) depending on demand

    • mfa website states that Change of Visa form is submitted at Chaeng Wattana, would I be able to do that at my local immigration office (Uthai Thani)

    • [ditto 30 day extension after 60 days]

    Visa Waiver

    • I’m in a position to start seasoning my next  400k before I leave

    • 400k would be ready within 2 visa waivers (2*30 days for UK)

    • can I apply directly for a Non O visa whilst on a waiver (I meet all the requirements for family)

    • again, would that be Chaeng Wattana or could I do that at local immigration office.

Apologies, for the lack of current knowledge, I am looking into it but also booking flights, hotels and packing for the wife (and mother in law!) so any festive help most welcome, satu!! ????

Embassies, consulates and immigration do not require that your wife has changed her name to yours. They cannot do that since it would be against the law.

My wife had to legally change her name at her registered amphur (hometown) within 3 months(?) ie new ID card, updated house book, change of name certificate etc - or is my memory playing tricks on me in middle age?

Having read the replies I can see the answer to my question is yes a cut above. If anyone said good morning to me I would reply with a good morning but hey I was brought up with that. Yes I do belive Farangs here belive they are a cut above  not just Thai but all other Farangs.

There's a chance the farang is/was a sex tourist or subsidising a wife/family for sex with a younger/more attractive gf/wife.   Why should I speak to some fat, old stranger simply because by the accident of birth he has the same skin colour as me?

I will continue my sawasdee krabs to the Thais I know and respect around town.

  6. Norm around here is 200.

Ditto here, rule of thumb wld be:

    200 for someone you know,

500 for close friend or family,

1000 for best friend or immediate family -

but essentially whatever they gave you last time so as not to lose face but not look like your being soaked (the wife keeps a spreadsheet which was inaugurated over the first 2-3 days of married life).

  7. Hi, I went to Suv last week. The re-entry office is on the ground floor on the security side near the first check in aisles (ie A-C etc). It's next to Y2 zone where they check in extra sized luggage and the SCB exchange bureau. There was no queue when I went (5pm) and opening times 5am-midnight as mentioned.

Unfortunately I was not able to use the service as the wife's visa was post-dated and I had to pay almost double the cost of the flights to change them. But that's a whole different story of skool girl errors.

  8. I need to travel immediately to UK for a funeral and would really appreciate some advice on below please while my Imm Off is closed, many thanks.

I'm currently on my 4th Non Imm O (spouse) visa extension and this will be my 1st departure.

I have 3 pages left on a UK passport expiring in 2018.

    Re-entry permit

    - if I want to skip the 2 WDs online booking queue can I get the permit at any Immigration Office - I live 120km from my local immigration office at Nakhon Sawan and prefer to join up permit with departure from Bkk

    - what are latest unbooked queues like at Changwattana and Suvanibum Airport (anyone refused at the airport?)

    Passport

    - would the re-entry permit, departure and return fit on a single page

    - prices are pretty similar renewing passport in UK or Thailand, so assuming no timing issues are there any advantages for place of issue (UK issue makes future travel/non-Thai visas less complicated?)

    - if I renew in UK, do I still need Certificate of Embassy to transfer my visa, can that only be UK Embassy in Thailand (can visa extensions be transferred?)

    Thank you again.

  9. Hi, wondered if anyone ever used same photos as previous application or are they cross checked and can be refused as not providing up to date evidence of living together?

This year we're renting the neighbouring house and moved living room/kitchen over which new photos will show but I'll be submitting under the original house where we are registered with Immigration (and the bedrooms remain).

Anyone had to re-submit out of date photos? Thanks.

  10. Did my 90 days last time & it was approved by next day.

The new website stays on a blank page after submitting in IE and crashes Firefox (requiring log off or restart) after trying for a few days.

100km+ drive to Nakhon Sawan for me this week.

Not sure what is happening with IE. Perhaps you are getting a message that is blocked as a pop up. That has happened to others.

For Firefox you need to install an an extension, Try this one. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/ie-tab-2-ff-36/

I have the same extension on Chrome and it works good.

    That time again.

IE still not working (blank screen after submitting).

FF extension you kindly provided at least took me to the pop-up message telling me to go to my immigration office.

I'm not at home to send details by post (am in Bkk for wife's hospital appointment), so now need to drive to Nakhon Sawan or can I do at Chaeng Wattana?.

Was so impressed with my 1 day turn-around when it first moved online. :(

Could not submit on IE before my 7 day deadline today.

Called Nakhon Sawan who said many people have problems with it but would still take postal submission(deadline is 12th).

So after paying for some printouts, photocopies, envelopes, stamps and a pen, I've hopefully avoided a return trip from Bkk while the wife waits for her hospital appointment.

Needless to say I'll not be using online submissions going forward.

Many thanks ubonjoe. That got the Captcha accepted and FF did not crash. I did get the visit my immigration message which could be as I am now within 7 days of my due date (6 days). I hope to report good news in approximately 3 months time! :)
