  1. Where else in the region do they fingerprint tourist arrivals like this?

Presumably going to be checked against biometrics?

Do they even have automated readers yet? Doesn't Somchai still key the data in by hand. At least, once its done the whole system will be automated and less open to abuse.

They might even catch a few Thai criminals . kamnan po only hung out in his own house for 10 years. I am sure the other major criminals will just get caught at a border post.

    Cambodia and Malaysia at least.

Do they fingerprint in Malaysia? All arrivals?

    I don't remember that.

Yes they do fingerprint in and out of Malaysia. I was there three weeks back.

  2. I understand the OP frustration with this one. I had a similar situation over the 7 day holiday period [Christmas] last year.

The people across the road from were I live had just completed the building of the new house. The daughter of those people decided it was a good idea to throw a party to coincide with the completion of her parents house and the holiday period. The only problem was the Party started on the Monday evening at 7pm with music blaring at an unacceptable level and the later it got the louder it got. This went on until 3am the next morning. Now some might say I need to suck it up because TIT. Well the party actually went for the next 9 nights as well. The minute the sun set the music went on and it blared until 3am every night. After several complaints from a near by hotel and several other neighbors the party actually stopped. Thinking that we had somewhat of a win was satisfying at the time. However I later found out that the ONLY reason the music stopped was because the daughter had gone back to Bangkok after the holiday period. Yes indeed, mutual consideration is only two words when it comes to some in this country.

  3. Yes I find the staff and volunteers at Phuket immigration are very helpful and polite.

But really was there a need to character assassinate this fellow who appeared in your words hung over. How do you know he was suffering the effects of alcohol. Are you a qualified doctor and can say in your qualified opinion he was intoxicated. This fellow for all you know might be suffering from some other medical condition. But as usual in these forums the minority jump on their high horse and ridicule others because they don't conform to some of your values and beliefs.

  4. i will just put it that way...what about if the information is turned like this?just supose you are american ok.blink.png

Just curious...over last year or so have noticed a LOT of americans tourists in Asia. Recently on monthly 2 weeks in Vietnam I went to Mui Ne. Anyway couldn't believe it was in the main americans.Tourists. Even the menus in Thai and american. Of course Pattaya phuket etc we know so well. So here's my question. Are americans very wealthy or just love it here? Also why is it that Thai immigration seems to have sweet deal with americans

I would more then likely say the same thing I said about the Russians. Don't worry I throw a vodka or two down tonight so you wont feel aggrieved..lol

  5. I recently returned from a trip to Vietnam and let me say this, I thought that that Phuket had become an annex of mother Russia. From what I observed in places like Nha Trang and other coastal locations. I have changed my way of thinking. The beaches are overcrowded with Russians, the shopping centers have Russian speakers working in the department stores. Everywhere you look there are Russians. Every second tour bus is Pegas Touristk. So in reality there aren't that many Russians in Phuket. They are all in Vietnam.

  6. Thai wont be the first language spoken in Phuket. It will be replaced by Russian/Slavonic and if you want to see trees you will have to look at the photos of them in books.

  7. Prior to buying my car over here, I rented a car through AVIS on a long term contract. Once I had purchased my own car I took the Avis vehicle back to the Phuket airport office. During the time I had the vehicle several minor scratches appeared on the vehicle a legacy of the close parking situations we come across over here on a daily basis. Avis observed the scratches and initially insisted that I pay for the damage. However I reminded them that the vehicle was comprehensively insured. Problem solved repairs covered by insurance and I received my full deposit back.

  8. I wonder if this is the same Kent Farrar from Morwell, Victoria. The age is about right and if it is I have had some dealings with him in the past, on a professional basis of course. A bit of a loose cannon who has priors for serious assaults.

Could be a small world if it is himsmile.png

I have observed several people in the LOS that I have had dealings with in the past, on a professional basis of coursewink.png

Its a very small world, over here.. lol
