  1. Now official for the US as well. Announced last night at their Time's Square launch.

"The price for the non-ABS model will be an MSRP of $4,799. The ABS model will be priced at $5,499 in the U.S. market."

Seems to match the pricing for the old N250 in all the regions.

Let's hope well see the N300 in Thailand at 155k. :)

  2. Just to highlight question:

My question is, is it easy enough to get the child into a state school ?

No idea. But I would guess yes, very easy.

Unless they know there's a farang thinking he's Papa and then some 'donations' might be needed while they all have a good laugh.

  3. Insist that you and the director go to his classroom first thing, then both of ye frogmarch him down to an M1 class. He is to stand facing them the whole day with a sign around his neck with 'I have no manners' written on it.

He has to go to a different classroom for each period for the entire day. To start with...

His parents also have to be contacted and told what he is saying to teachers.

Then set up a video camera watching your scooter cause it's going to be damaged. biggrin.png

Teaching in Thailand sounds like fun. smile.png

  4. http://hellforleathe...r500-and-cb500/

500cc Honda CB and CBRs made in Thailand... what's not to like? I imagine they'll be well below 200k if hellforleather is to be believed... they've been pretty accurate in the past.

    Thats hilarious. Hell for leather!

“Redline,” a member of CBR250.net claims to have taken these photos at a presentation at Honda’s manufacturing facility in Thailand, saying they show the 2013 Honda CBR500 and 2013 Honda CB500, faired and naked versions of the same bike.

“I have not yet been informed of the markets it will be sold in,” continues Redline. “It will be cheap and released to steal sales from the Ninja 300, Er-6n and f. It will be a bigger brother to the 250 and not a smaller brother to the 600. See it as double the 250, and not 5/6ths of the 600.”

    Redline?!?.. <deleted>. That's me!

Haha, I haven't seen a bite that big since KRSpam1 was challenging me to a drag race 'for titles'. cheesy.gif

Thanks very much Hell for Leather. :)

  5. Leeked photos of what is claimed to be the new CBR500 just hitting the Thai sites.

    Two versions. Faired and naked.

Those forks need replacing for a start. biggrin.png

Almost time for the CBR500 Vs Ninja 300 thread. clap2.gifintheclub.gif

BTW, I wonder how the release of these 'leaks' have coincided with the official Ninja 300 announcements a week ago...

    Coincidence?

It is obviously in Honda's best interest to get these out before too many potential customers buy the new N300.

  6. btw some CBR250R guys in Oz were saying how the value of their bike just dropped....

Not half as much as the guys in Oz who paid $7500 for 2010 ninjettes before the the CBR was released and Kawa had to slash their price by $1500.

How much have they lost on their $7500 N25's with new 2013 N300's going for $6200!

  7. A bit of google gives AP Honda officials saying that Big Wings will be opened in CNX, Phuket and Pattaya.

Mityons (pattaya) has a corner on sukhumvit with lots of billboards advertising a Big Wing with all different model sport bikes...

Cool. I was told a Big Wing in Chiang Mai is being developed by Thapae Pae Gate and is due to open in Dec. but it looks like they might be a bit behind schedule.

  8. Perhaps they could set up a Western child's Road Safety App for tablet computers and facebook. Perhaps one where you have to pop balloons and there's loads of bright primary colours to hold their attention.

And instead of sending a delegation to the UK they could get some UK schools to put 'A road safety for Thais' video project together. I'm sure some 10 year old 4th graders could explain 'Driving the wrong way down a main road is dangerous and incredibly stupid'. 'Not looking before pulling out on to a road is dangerous and incredibly stupid'. etc etc.

Have them translated by a Thai in a large, cute bunny costume, use lots of flashing colours, and air them during the Lakorns.

  9. Speed run in Indo on the new 250 saw 170kph indicated, and that wasn't a long run. (see youtube)

    That's 105.6 mph.

Given the (presumably) nice aerodynamics the N300 hitting 112mph straight outta the box isn't an unreasonable claim.

Getting an extra 8mph (on a good day) when the engine loosens up isn't an unreasonable assumption.

Given the aerodynamic, weight, and power-curve differences of the two bikes I wouldn't really compare them, especially thinking the N300 will be much slower than the bulky, blocky, low spinning Er-6.

  10. Big wing is only in bangkok and local shops sure cannot fix a 500 cc or i dont let them touch my bike.

Big Wing Chiang Mai is set to open in December, or was at least.

A bit of google gives AP Honda officials saying that Big Wings will be opened in CNX, Phuket and Pattaya.

  11. Sorry, I can't confirm this particular model 100%. I do know for sure that Honda will have three locally made big bike models available early next year though.

Perhaps, and I'm just going on Honda's current trend of cost efficiency in the lower CC range, perhaps a faired and naked version of the same bike, and then the same engine put into an off-roader - like the CRF250.

If it's a single than cost is gonna be down even more, and the off-roader is going to be even more at home. The naked would be a great little city racer/commuter, and the faired would still probably out run it's competitor - the Ninja 300.

  13. its going to be a 400 not a 500:

I hope you're not basing that simply on an old Jap photoshop mag. rolleyes.gif

must be a lot of people photoshopping then.

Well done. I think you're starting to understand.

BTW those last pics have been around since 2011...

  14. You mean the Thais will have to think of others and disadvantage themselves accordingly by stopping, not driving the wrong way down a street and all sorts of other inconvenient behaviours that are unnatural to them.

that's asking a lot of them.

  15. Bangkok to impose stricter traffic laws

Why not start enforcing existing ones.

Did officials really need an all expenses paid trip to London to see that fining/punishing people who ride the wrong way down a main road with no helmet is beneficial.

    Look similar?

(Jap Mag from 6 weeks ago).

I remember them getting the CBR250R almost correct 2 months or so before it was announced.

Even the rims and discs look the same as the leaked naked pic.

  17. Senior Road Tester Adam Child is in Frankfurt, Germany for the launch of Kawasaki's new Ninja 300 – not merely a big bore 250, but an entirely new bike. He's just got off after his first session on the bike and said:

"It feels much more like a big bike than the previous model, not just in terms of the size, but the build quality, which is far better than the 250.

"It’s very much like the rest of the family and emulates the ZX-6R and ZX-10R to such an extent that everybody will want to know how fast it goes. The answer is that it indicated 112mph on an unrestricted German autobahn but it felt like there's potential for more - possibly 120mph?

"The clutch is one-finger-light round town and the gear box is smooth."
