  1. This is what i'm getting from a ship currently 150miles off the coast of Brazil. Better than many Thai ISPs...

    Your current bandwidth reading is:

    217.20kbps

which means you can download at 27.15 KB/sec. from our servers.

    28.8 kbps dial-up

    33.6 kbps dial-up

    53.3 kbps dial-up

    56 kbps ISDN

    128 kbps ISDN

    217.2 kbps YOU

    384 kbps DSL

    768 kbps DSL

    1000 kbps DSL

    1500 kbps DSL/T1/Cable Modem

  2. First thing i would do is check your proxy settings. If you've been using a proxy server somewhere it's possible they've blocked access to hotmail. If you've changed the proxy IP then change it back to whatever it was. Same goes for your ISP, so check with them if there's anything wrong.

Other than that you might want to check for spyware/malware. Download Spybot and Adaware, run 'em and see what they come up with.

It may just be a problem with the Hotmail servers and you might find that the problem will clear by itself shortly. Good Luck.

  3. Check your BIOS and IRQ settings. If the IRQ assigned to your USB port is being used by something else then they won't work. However, for the record, i have seen several computers with hardware faults on USB - hopefully this won't be the case with your machine.

  4. Green highlights could be showing areas that are underexposed. This is a setting in ACDSee, nothing to do with GoogleEarth. This is from an ACDSee forum so can't confirm if it's accurate but worth a look;

"Enable the viewer's main tool bar. They are the Green and Red 'flower' buttons. clicking on the button(s) toggles the under and over exposure on and off. If the button is the highlighted with the orange [on my system] it is on."

Repost the pic if you get it working! :o

  5. Just got my Jap XBox from MBK a few weeks back. Been having quite bad problems with lag though on Xbox Live. Burnout is mostly playable and GRAW is ok if i only play on the fast servers although i do get kicked out a lot and i seem to lose the one on ones more than i would of thought. Possibly due to lag.

Tried playing DOA4 and Fight Night live and both of them have terrible problems with lag. I'd like to try playing against someone in Thailand to see if there is any improvement.

My gamertag is Bangkok 512. Anyone on Live feel free to add me but i've just left Thailand recently to work offshore. Be back online in around 4 weeks when i return.

  6. I've been looking for a flight from Aberdeen in Scotland to Bangkok for the first week in July. Everything i've found at the moment is pretty expensive for this period and was wondering if the prices may drop at all in the coming weeks.

Anyone have any ideas on this or any recommendations to get cheaper flights? Tried to use my Flying Blue airmiles but they do not even have economy seats available.

  7. I'm by no means an expert on this but I had sciatic pain for more than a year. I reckon for 3 months of that time I was in complete agony. In my case it was caused by a disc in my lower back pushing up against the nerve.

I saw doctors, was prescribed painkillers, was given exercises but NOTHING worked.

I was then reccommended a chiropractor (this was in Scotland, if it was BKK I'd tell you who it was). First treatment he lay me on my back and slipped a few blocks under me located around the spine. I lay here for approx 15 mins. He then manipulated my back once... used one of those recliners where a section drops out from under you while he applies pressure on your back. He then gave me 5 or 10 mins of direct acupuncture to a muscle in my lower back. Total treatment time was around 30mins, I was given a full physical beforehand so he knew what was wrong.

Anyway, after more than a year of pain I had around 80 percent movement returned to me the following day. I'd walked with a limp for more than a year and this almost vanished overnight. A few more treatments later, 10 -15 mins each time, and I reckon i was 95 percent fit. Full range of movement returned to me and no pain. I did not have full strength though but that came with time.

I do not know any good chiropractors in Bangkok but I am sure there must be some. Problem with LOS is that eveyone thinks they can manipulate the spine it's just a case of finding someone who knows what they are doing

  8. I just bought the beginner and intermediate books from Asia Books (3rd floor Emporium). Price was 799 baht each (1 book and 2 CDs in each pack).

Started the course and it looks promising. It does get stuck into learning to read and write though and judging from the intermediate book you cannot choose to skip this. Time to knuckle down and get on with it.

For your information, I prefer this course to the linguaphone course which I also own. The linguaphone course has too many places where you need to stop the tape and rewind (again and again) and it also has 2 books which you have to jump between which I found irritating.

I've copied the Becker course CDs onto my ipod for easy access which works well with the single book.
