  1. In theory better, however I have had 2 separate cases where the in-mold brass thread has cracked leading to leak.

Probably would not have had problem with plastic-only one. I will not use brass ones any more due to bad experiences

VAT on imports isn't really a big issue, 7% on reading glasses that cost 35 baht won't be much.

the problem will be with the "service fee" - I guess they will collect that on every import to pay for the manpower needed to process the volume.

AliExpress do this for some euro countries already, vat included in price and they settle with tax aurhorities n countries.

If this gets real in Thailand, I would expect they just switch on that feature for thai delivery orders in their platform and also activate it in lazada which they own. 7% won't make big difference as long as the operation is automated and smooth, without delays or handling fees

Does every country include VAT on the shipping cost, or is it just Thailand?

I paid 120% duty/fees on a shipment from France, as they dinged me for the shipping too.

Not sure if every country, but it is customary to include shopping costs to the import duty/tax base in developed countries

I have thought about that a bit. There is some mental limitation for me when I try to simply duplicate my life here as back in the Usa. For some reason it never feels the same and I feel like I need to do things the Thai way when I'm here. Theoretically, it should be the same in both locations since physically it's just a change in landscape.

... But I understand you are not bored because of that lifestyle difference, justiI like me I live very differently here vs home country. However I am all but bored. I am not from US but lived in San Diego before for few years and while there my lifestyle was different from home as well, simply due to environment. But all but bored

But I understood OP feels bored to death with his Pattaya lifestyle so wondering where the limitations come that lead to his boring life instead of doing something that is not boring, e.g doing same things as back home if those are not boring. Or possibly sometä things different. At least I would stop doing things which bore me and do something I enjoy.

  5. In the old tax system that was used until 3 or 4 years ago, my tax was also 7500. When the new system was introduced, nominal tax changed to around 300, with 90% discount for first two years. Now around the 300.

Enjoy while it lasts. Certain that it will go up in future.

Yes, the beginning of the backpedaling. In the end, nothing will be banned or returned to the blacklist, and in a few days time open, incredulous denials will commence that it was ever even considered. TIT

Odds of anything that creates economic activity and does not create risk for status quo of society being stopped indeed are low, especially so if it creates revenue streams for RTP or people in administration. Might be banned in law but not enforced at all (just collect envelopes)

But but then if the activity in question is a concern for the system, it is a different ballgame. Just look at future forward and likely to happen to its successor as well.

  7. Motorbike repair shops take off old cover and staple new one in place in about 20min, just need a proper stapler (pneumatic usually).

I have had mine replaced twice at pratamnak Soi 6 motorbike repair shop due to cats ripping it. They have covers for common models in stock.

You can get your own cover from lazada too and have that installed if want specific style. I paid 200 baht for the work with my own cover. I recall 300 incl the cover (was for click). If you fuzzy about type of cover, texture,  color etc bring your own cover  if you don't like what they have.

As is the majority of Sois in Pattaya.

But this has more to do with Soi Buakhao becoming one way, than Soi Diana Inn and Soi Honey Inn.

When will the one-way Buakhao happen? Have details about the traffic arrangement somewhere?

How does a Thai get cash by selling air as water when the state collects the money?

If air is passing though the meter, nothing after the meter is going to change that.

I understood from the OP (maybe erroneously?) that water was being supplied by truck to cover for water shortage, and concern was air possibly being mixed to get bigger meter reading for the bill from that guy. Just like the tuned taxi fare meters running double speed.

After the meter sure nothing changes.

Can a water pump move air?

You cannot use a water pump to pump air.

If a thai is in a position to get cash by selling air as water based on baht/cbm deal, certainly there is a solution to this.

if nothing else then a separate compressor!

  11. If water level in your tank is low enough so that the foot valve is not properly under water, 100% sure you get air mixed in.

If you just want to know if the water pumped  to your house has air mixed in, disconnect the bum gun from the hose and put the hose into a bucket that has enough water to keep the hose under water, and open the valve so that water can flow to the bucket (keep end of the hose under water). If you don't see bubbles, not (at least much) air. If see bubbles,  has air mixed with water.

You should also hear it by listening the pump, it gets noisy if air mixed in. I would expect to be able to hear it also e.g when toilet is filling, not quiet any more.
