  1. SBK look forward to hearing the outcome!

Your input was a pleasure to read it is like a breath of fresh air to listen to positive question and answer type conversation.

Whoa ladies this comment is not a put down, just an observation on how some threads on some forums tend to represent the inputer. :o

SBK and others (M & F) looking forward to participating in further interesting threads!!

    Peeun

  2. I would suggest "markt" has hit the nail on the head or identified the "undesirable" down to a T. In the mid seventies (73-75) Michael Somare moved this element out of PNG, about 7-10 (80-85) years later I noticed possible the exact same person "markt" described (an exPNG  expat) existing in Mabini Manila.  The same undesirable element were subsequently moved on from Manila (by Corey Aquino and company) and strange as it may seem their destination was "yes gentlemen" Bangkok. Heck you may not believe this but unless they have found something thrice as powerful as the big"V" I dont believe they would have the whereabouts to tamper with themselves let alone bother your sister.  :o

One small comment on the visa issue back at the beginning of the thread I am sure the gent from Chang Mai mentioned they could not communicate (computer) with the big smoke yet there were some thoughts that the outposts were doing just that??

Its like anwhere else its often better to let things ride hence they dont go underground. Somtimes events (Sept11, Bali) stipulate its time to curb and control and have happy APEC - my thoughts only. All critque welcomed!!

  3. Thanks Bintang will explore this option along with ANZ.

Have also found Citibank are located in Aust,Sing & Bangkok as well as many other places and they offer 4.25%+ on term funds lodged in Singapore classed as offshore for Aust tax purposes. :o

  4. To - Brian & The Dr thank you for the timely advice it has saved some heartache.

The Thai lady at the Thai Consulate in Sydney who provided the 3 day time frame for visas' has always been very helpful in my own personal dealings.(Just thought it was worth making this point on her behalf) On a previous occaision with regards to myself she advised that since I was married to a Thai I should use Non Immg Type O to establish a history for future reference.

Once again thanks for the help

  5. A friend here in Aust intends visiting Thailand for 21 days and has asked if he requires a tourist visa?

He has been advised by the Thai Consulate in Sydney that since Sept 11 visa processing now takes min 3 days he leaves Sydney Thur 19 Jun.

To the best of my knowledge he does not require a visa, is this correct and is there anything he should know when passing through Don Muang (with respect to non visa requirement). His return ticket has him departing July 14th (hence only 3 week stay).  ???

  6. Interested to find out the on road cost of a new Isuzu pick-up (extra or space cab). Have had no luck (returns) from my e-mails to GM (Isuzu) dealership in Bangkok.

  7. Being a keen fisherman, the fish stories have rewetted my appertite for throwing in a "line". Which was dented during my recent visit to LOS.

Our next door neighbour and friends  invited me to go "shock pla". Ha you say! your neighbour and friends meant 'toc pla'. No they reinforced "shock pla" and the resultant catch was enjoyed by all.

    Tackle consisted of:

    1 x small boat

1 x long pole w/small brass 20cm dia sieve attached

1 x coil of flex (quite long)

The number caught could be verified by the - flicker of the lights, call of fai dup cancelled by the woop from the small boat out on the chaopraya.

  8. Born 1945 yes 57

Prefer at this stage not to go down the Cat O retirement track for the 'not allowed to work reason'.

I believe the RTCG Sydney would (??) Although on most recent visit to LOS Mar 03 travelled on non immg cat O Single entry issue from RTCG Sydney, Purpose of journey to visit relatives and make arrangements for oldest boy to return to Sriboonyanon School Nonthaburi (his choice?? age 16)

Back in 2002 I recieved non immg cat O multiple journeys from the Royal Thai Consulate-General Brisbane.

Onto a little different topic "import of secondhand motor vehicles" as mentioned in first post 1979 Holden Commodore

a hobby vehicle is there an import category for classic vehicle or who can I talk/communicate with to establish the $ viability of importing the said vehicle?

  9. lopburi3 thank you for the comment it prompted me to go off and do some more research(homework).

If you have resided in Thailand for 3 years on consecutive 1 year visas with no defaults like overstays and you want to reside in Thailand thereafter, there is provision where you can apply for a residence permit. Foreigners with non- immigrant visas who have resided in Thailand continuously for three years (on 1-year visa extensions), may apply for permanent residency.

Applicants for residency also need a working permit issued by the Thai Ministry of Labour or Labour Office.

I had received advice from the consulate in Sydney re 12 months visas requiring to be Ok'd every 3 months (which i interpreted to mean 3 monthly visa run obiously i was wrong)

My reading now seems to indicate.

Apply for non-immg visa code 'O' in country of departure (my case Sydney/Brisbane) duration of first permit 90 days then apply to Immigration for a 1 year extension x 3 times etc.

Sorry if I had it by the wrong end  but prefer to sort out what "one" can and can't do, so as too minmise the room for rejection in the long term as we are coming to Thailand to stay.

Thanks again for the comment no doubt I will receive more just treat me gently to start 555.

  10. Maybe I should start again. I will be moving to Thailand later this year and intend to pursue residency.

My understanding was 'one was better off to enter on a non immig Type 'O' multi journey' I am also of the understanding that this type visa although valid in itself for 1 year still has a 90 day stay proviso.

I would now ask for clarification and happy to receive advice on the more correct or appropriate path to follow. :o

  11. Aust-B1945 Previous post about import of 79 VB --More importantly intend to enter Thailand on Type "O" multi journey either to visit relatives or "other" whichever is more appropriate (may decide to teach english next year). Could you advise on this and standard time frame for aquiring residency?(Acknowledge visa run per 90 days is standard requirement until residency can be aquired). ???
  12. Australian Born1945 -- Previously taught at MTTS Bangkhen, DCP project some 20 years ago. All visits since have been on Type "O" multi or single journey visas. Intend moving to Thailand later this year, currently own small house Nonthaburi (wifes name) - will bring household items plus wish to bring my 1979 VB Holden Commodore which has been painstakingly restored over the past few years currently 75% completed can be brought as completed item or in knocked down condition (hobbie)?

Would appreciate comment/advice on import of vehicle!

    ???
