  1. Not to forget the Southern Coffee brand here in Thailand That was some Stout Espresso (which I love) Wanwee is a northern brand which is great too. They even introduce the Coffee drip Style. It is like a tea bag but with Coffee (genius). Since I have been living in Thailand I never ever get starbucks because PENG MAK and There is coffee stalls everywhere. Whether it is Gaffe Boran or Espresso. The only reason I used to drink Starbucks back in the US was because I knew how to get free drinks. I would order a Venti Americano is a Tall cup. Which is 4 shots of Espresso with a Dash of Hot water. I would always get coffee grinds in the bottom which is a Free re-make. Works everytime. But now that I have had INDO Java and Thai Arabica. Starbucks is a stamp on the Hard workers from around the world. Not to mention Nescafe/Folgers. bah.gif Even Nescafe special blends leave much to be wanted. Moccona Espresso Instant is the Best so far. I do not like 3n1 or cream and sugar in my coffee. Only if I am roughing it do I drink 3n1.
Starbucks is over-rated but everyone knows Starbucks. So I can see why it is a comfort thing in a new country.

  2. You mean it is not taught in history lessons in school???? Really???

I have no idea what is actually taught but I can say that I've raised the WWII topic (politely and with a firm effort to be neutral with the questions) multiple times over the years to Thai friends and acquaintenances and they seem not to be able to relate any details at all. The last time I did that was about 2 months ago with 4-5 Thai acquaintenaces (including two recent university graduates) and all equally seemed to lack any information about any of it (although one did say, without any retort by me, that "Thailand was on the Allies side" or words to that effect).

They know about Japan being bombed but nothing really more than that. I have no clue why they dont know maybe to keep the true from coming out?

  3. I always hear my Thai friends say that Thailand was never invadedgiggle.gif

    Thailand never , Siam was

more than once and not only by the Birmese

I believe you will find Thailand was invaded and occupied by the Japanese between 1941 and 1945.

Yes, there is a TV series about. Even, A movie based on the TV series.

  4. Any where outside Bangkok Thai Beer is more expensive. Maybe only by a few baht but it adds up. Only thing that Appeals to me in Pra ted Khmer is the Beautiful Extra stouts they have there. Black Panther and ABC 8% alc and even just as cheap 20฿ & 40฿ for 12 oz can. No sun pollutions :)) But I have not been outside the Casino "no mans land". I would love to see the "Left Overs" and get even further insight of events that took place there. Khmers dont have that nice un farang price and you have to speak Khmer and that will take some work. Khmer is not nearly as developed as Thailand in no way. I heard the Capital does have Pizza Company and such. I wish I could get that stout beer here in Bangkok. I need to get another job to pay for BeervanaBkk and WishBeerThailand. check it out if you want real beer

  5. 26 pages about this!!!!!!!!

When people in the west stop regarding Mao and Stalin etc etc as icons, I'll take pics of Hitler on T shirts seriously.

And, how about Rodman sucking up to the Dear Whatever. Now that's something to be upset about.

Because People actually know what happened before their lfe time. Is that so wrong people give a Hoot? Just because you live in Garbage does not mean your Garbage. This might be true Though How long does it take til your feel like Garbage seeing it day in day out??? You cant parade around Germany with Dicators on your shirt. In Russia you cant have people better than dicators on your shirt without thinking you are a spy, (you would know why if you knew anything)

  6. ok other than Hitler what about Clothing and Apperals and stickers and such with Hugo Chavez or other dictators. I just came back for Savannakhet, Laos which has loads of Soviet flags which most Laos have not clue about. And at the Bus station in Mukdahan, Thailand the little shops around the station had pictures of Dictators of all sorts even one shop that sell Vietnam shirts and have Ho Chi Minh on it. Its like You Love the King but your Running around with Khmer Rouge and Kwai Daengs and all Communism combine. Also, I seen some skinny jeans in Chit Lom street stand that had the iron cross and SS symbols with American print which was <deleted> These people dont even or see what is beyond their own hands. My Brain hurts a lot thinking how Ignorant one can be not to even know your own History. I know more History of SE asia than Asians do. Hints if you dont know your history your bound to repeat it

  7. Anyone ever heard of bad owners?? By which Causes Animals to become Un-sociable. Dogs are very social animals I would almost every soi dog I meet becomes my buddy. Every dog behind a fence is usually there to guard the house which means it is neglected and put on a chain "made Crazy". What would you like if you were left on a 1 foot length chain???? Pitbulls are always the Bad guys because People mis treat these strong dogs. In American this happens all the time BECAUSE OF THE OWNERS Dogs are very emotional animals. Imagine a White shirt and how easy it is to get stained (CASE&POINT)

  8. You do not obtain Thai visas at the border if that is what you are asking - the visas mentioned are for Cambodia. You obtain a new entry for a visa you already have or a visa exempt entry of 15 days on return to Thailand for most people.

I am to stamp out of Thailand because my Month Extenstion is up on the 4th. I will be close to Aranyaprathet/Poipet because I am trying out this Summer camp and I will be told after my first two days if I am accepted and join (get a work visa) I just need a quick and simple 15 days here to keep myself legal. I do not want nor do I think I need to spend the load of money that is takes to go to Savannakhet, Laos. I am pretty sure I will be able to work at this camp I am just unsure about poipet and coming back in the same day. I keep hearing something about Evisas but I dont have a Credit card. I know about the BS visas because I already had that once. I just want to get in and get out. But with this visa exempt entry of 15 days there is nothing I can do at Immigration with it? Or do I have to border run again if I do not get my work visa fast enough???

  9. Ok, I plan on heading there to get in and out I got these instruction for welo TV member

Just wanted to inform the honorable TV community that construction work on the new Visa-On-Arrival office at the Poipet Border is finished and the counter service has already moved there. The famous blue sign stating the 20 USD for the Tourist Visa has been moved there as well

The building is located to the right of the Angkor-styled stone arc that spans the road (hard to miss). This is the same location where the old visa booth was located, just before construction work started a view months ago. The visa office had been temporarily moved to the small white building in the middle/left of the road. The 'health check' (leftover from the swine flu days, basically just filling out a form) is still located in this small white 'hut'. Touts and officers might try to lure you into the offices with tinted glass doors just next to it when you get out of the health check.

The new building is big enough and hard to miss. Check out the pics.

Here a quick guide how to cross the border and come back

follow the pedestrian walkway which is partly covered by a sun-roof to the Thai immigration building. Touts will approach you on the way there, ignore them. Don't follow them to any 'visa office' or 'agency' (unless you want to). There is a queuing point before you enter the building with 'lanes' for Thai and Foreigners - the inside is a rather big hall with a handful of counters for Thai citizens, Foreigners, Border Pass, and Group Tours.

Check your departure card for completeness and queue at one of the counters for 'Foreigners' until you get your exit stamp, then exit the building

walk 100 meters (still on the left road side), you will see a small white building straight ahead, and offices with tinted glass windows on the left. You can see the stone arc from there. Enter the white building and do the 'health check' (a simple form stating that you are not sick). Don't enter the offices to the left, touts or officers might want to persuade you to do the visa there.

after the health check exit the building and cross the street under the stone arc to the newly built Visa On Arrival office. The sign above the entrance says 'The Office of the International Border Checkpoint Poipet'.

Inside you find a counter, above which you will see a blue sign stating the 3 types of Visas and the prices (see pictures). Bring one photo and a pen, fill the smallish application form, takes 5-15 minutes, you'll have a 1-page sticker in your passport.

Official price is 20 USD, officers will charge 1000 THB (30 USD). Everything in between is up to negotiations. Your best bet is to bring 20 USD, then add 0-200 THB tea money.

keep walking for another 200m (along the right road side), passing the casino hotels, until you arrive at a small building/gateway, fill the arrival card, get your Cambodian entry stamp.

    Welcome to Cambodia!

In front of you there will be a roundabout and touts will approach you to board the bus to the bus station or whatsoever. Say, no thank you, and just walk cross the street to the Cambodian Exit immigration counter where people will probably already line up.

get exit stamp at Cambodian immigration counter

walk 100m passing the Casino hotels until you reach the big stone arc, cross the street, keep walking until you come to the Thai immigration building, where you get your entry stamp

    Welcome to Thailand

Is this pretty sound advice? the first time I went I got had and It was my first time in this kind of Craziness. Now it is a different story. Can anyone highlight the Procedures taking place in these statements above? Also, can I get a 30 day extension from these visa at Immigration???

  10. If he ruled Thailand he would be back in Thailand.........is there anybody here who cannot follow this simple logic?.........Let us be clear about this Thaksin influences Thai politics from Dubai....nothing more.

Yet his hands are in everything. His sister is PM! SISTER NONG SAO We know whats going on but no one wants to stop it

  11. Yeah maybe Som nam nah. but fired twice by itself Really Who are we trying to fool. Then again a Farang with a gun could be black market gun and prone to problems. Also messing with a Man's child he could expect a problem. we know what happens when you fight thais if you dont end it fast they come out the wood work.

  12. No wonder they want to ban alcohol in Phuket. 30 percent Muslims (I saw 2 year old baby-girl with complete scarf) seems lobbying quite well. Whats next? Complete ban of selling tobacco and alcohol? Oh, I forgot, muslims also smoke too!

Can't remember the name of island, but in one of the islands near Phi Phi, you can't disrecpect the religious views of Muslims hence you can't drink alcohol.

That must be a Very VERY boring place. I mean not getting drunk but just some liqour or beer to enjoy the sights and weather

  13. I dislike how they always Girlfriend and relationship. It was a pay by the hour Girl not a steady working job girl.
