  1. Your ride is an Altis not a Fortuner so the nightmare thread is a load of <deleted> as Trans Am said all alongwink.png

I am now on Vios what Toyota give me.

    ....

    Ps

    You name Tabaki?

And i hope you not forget today clean shoes for Trans Am.

    wink.png

    You name Kretyn?

must be as you can't remember which of your rides has gapslaugh.png

He owns a Fortuner. The Altis/VIOS is a loaner. Well, that's my interpretation anyway.

  2. Soibiker is correct.

Chromecast has 2 "modes" of operation:

    1. Supported apps

In this case, your controlling device (phone/tablet/PC) is just a remote control, and hands over to the Chromecast to do the streaming from the internet. After you've started playing content this way, you can even kill the app on your device and it will continue playing on the Chromecast.

    2. Screen Mirroring

In this case, your controlling device does all the streaming from the internet, and actively beams AV to the Chromecast. Playback can be choppy and low res, and if using a phone, your battery will go down fast.

When possible, you definitely want to use method #1.

Here's a page with supported apps:

    https://www.google.com/intl/th_th/chromecast/apps/

  3. It is posssible to get original Toyota heaters fitted to Vigos. If the car is exported to many countries it will not be allowed to be registered there if it does not have one as this also acts as a demister (also signifigent in the northern regions of thailand). If you take you car with you (which could be woth it to Australia) it is best to do that here.

I think the dealer can but there are companies specialising in exporting vehicles that could do it probably cheaper.

A few years ago, this question was asked and someone who had gone into a lot of detail on researching the parts required concluded that it was economically unviable... There's just too many different and missing bits.

Search won't find me the thread though :(

  4. Thanks for that Jitar, quiet surprised with the weight comparison, but not unexpected, it is American after all, they are not renowned for their low mass.

From the knowledge you guys are providing, I am concluding the Isuzu MuX, as a first product by Isuzu in this category, is the vehicle that has basically come from nowhere in 18 months and has slotted into a credible position in the market against established competition.

In essence, they have done a wonderful job. It's clearly not a poseurs vehicle and does exactly what it was designed to do and to be the most fuel efficient is a bonus.

GaryA, IMHO, thank you for your contributions so far, very objective and factual additions, other posters drop into this and various topics and clearly are biased and subjective, fair enough. Though I do think it only achieves a disservice to the very products, consequently, it is fairly easy to dismiss any comment, similar to the noisy child at the back of the class.

Regarding my last post, can anyone advise on the annual road tax for a used Isuzu MuX

    Cheers

    Wood

The MU-X is not Isuzu's first effort. The first was the MU (Mysterious Utility) which only sold here in very small numbers in the 90's. Their next attempt was the MU-7 which sold here between 2004 and 2013. The latest effort is the MU-X, and it's not even an Isuzu design wink.png GM Brazil penned the design, with Isuzu only putting their own engines and gearboxes in, and some small changes like audio system and interior colors. Look at the Chev Trailblazer to see it's "donor" vehicle smile.png

Road tax will be around 7,000 Baht/yr

The MU-X was first released in October 2013, 19 Months after it's donor vehicle (Trailblazer) was first launched.

I should also note that from 1991 to 2003, Isuzu sold a car called the Trooper here, which while not having the "MU" moniker, was an SUV based on a pickup chassis, so should probably be considered as being part of the lineage.

  5. Fortuners have heaters. Our 2012 Fortuner TRD has a heater and climate control.

Wait its same model as my?

    Aaaaa

Now go check in internet it have or not. Another way it new problem with my frotuner.

    sad.png

But altis??? Its same not have...

Lower model Altis's definitely don't have climate control or a heater - the 1.8L G, V and Esport's have climate control, and I would fully expect, a heater.

  6. Price range up to 1mill baht. Sedan, hatchback, pickup or crossover.

Sedan or Hatchback: I think the Mazda 3 is the best looking of all 3 with climate control.

    Pickup: Ford Ranger.

Cross-Over: HRV, but not sure it has climate control.

Climat control its not mean have heater:)

In Fortuner 2013 have climat control.

In Altis 2015 have climat control.

    But not have heater.

    smile.png

Or only Toyota in Thailand market give some model with out heater on cimat control?

    smile.png

It's news to me. My old mid-00's Fortuner had a heater. The only Altis' I've been in is a taxi though ;)

  7. Torque is usually misunderstood. The true picture is the torque curve. The longer and flatter the high curve tells the tale. Some curves show a high spike and that makes a good sounding number but means nothing for performance. A lower number with a flatter curve will perform better.

A flatter curve gives a more linear response, and sometimes feels nicer to drive, but more is still more too wink.png

    post-163537-0-18952300-1453873608_thumb.

Headline numbers suggest the Mitsubishi 2.4L is better than the Toyota 2.8L, but, yep, the torque curve tells the truth biggrin.png

The top spec HR-V has single zone climate control.

In the Ranger range, it's only the Wildtrak models that get climate control, but they're all also dual zone.

  9. Right or wrong, I judge fuel economy as being the best engineered.

Fuel economy is determined by various factors - but primarily engine efficiency vs weight vs gearing. Smaller engines are generally more efficient than larger ones (unless woefully undersized), lighter cars are going to be more fuel efficient than heavier ones.

In the case of the Isuzu MU-X, it's not because it has super efficient engines, it's because of all the weight (and features) it doesn't have.

    A 2WD 3.0L Auto MU-X weighs just 1,900 KG - the 4x4 version weighs just 2,000KG - that's almost 500KG less than something like an Everest.

In that comparison the difference is all in the extras you're getting in the Ford - heavier duty chassis and body steel, watts link rear end, more advanced AWD system, more extensive soundproofing, better physical crash safety, more airbags and safety systems, electric tailgate, 4 electric seats, panoramic roof etc etc.

In short, judging a car purely on fuel efficiency only is ignoring a lot of other very important attributes.

  10. All models with climate control - i.e. you set the desired temperature in degrees Celcius - should have heaters, e.g.

    Audi-S3-Sedan-interior-climate-control-6

Those with both a red and blue sections on the dial should also have heaters:

    Ford-Everest-on-location-005.jpg

All others most probably do not.

Look out for climate control as a feature first and foremost, but be sure to test it. There is one member here who has climate in a Fortuner, but which has no heater (or it has malfunctioned).

  11. you are correct, most of the in wall speakers require 4 inch depth and the fixing bracket is designed for dry lined walls not blocks. Looks a no go so i will conceal the speaker cable and mount my existing brackets and speakers to the wall.

    thanks for the advice.

any ideas for best place to get 100m of speaker cable?

Amorn sells sufficiently good speaker wire, without the hyped up prices:

    http://www.amorngroup.com/en/branches.php

Use the table here to make sure you get the sufficient gauge for the length of the runs, and speaker impedance:

    http://www.audioholics.com/audio-video-cables/speaker-cable-gauge

And this table to convert from AWG to mm2:

  12. About NEs fortuner and PJS

    Fortuner 2.8 its faster PJS

    better handeling

In my opinion minus Fortuner it not space for tall guy in rear seats( In Thai market its not actual)

If New PJS be same offroad as before

    its better Fortuner

some guys compare ( in real offroad) old PJS with Prado 120

So ofcouse if win in offroad can lost in road.

Hope NEW PJS be same old.

While the Fortuner 2.8L has a torque advantage over the PJS, there's not much difference in acceleration - the Mitsu's 8AT and better top-end power makes up for a lot of the deficit.

No-one is going to say the Pajero Sport is a great handling machine though :) It has definitely been tuned with a big bias towards comfort.

Off road, the PJS has excellent wheel articulation/travel and the Super Select II 4WD system is a much better implementation then Toyota's Sigma4 system - which can't even keep traction control working when low range and the rear diff lock is engaged.

  13. isnt that better than any car under 1million in thailand? Seems to me that most of the trash sold here ends up like that at 20kph

The small overlap frontal impact in the 2nd photo is actually very good. This is the American test in which all the impact zone is only as wide as a headlight, and it's crashed into a solid object - not the same as the EU tests where it's 40% overlap into a deformable barrier.

The side impact test is a little worrying, but without understanding the test protocol, hard to judge.

  14. Even my crappy Ford pickup has climate control

    climate control or hot air?

    its different thinks.

i had in Fortuner climat control , but do not have hot air .

so the windows sweat when the temperature is less than 15C, and thespeed of more than 60kph.

Maybe something has changed then... in the past, Fortuners with actual climate control (i.e. set the temperature and forget) had heating as well as cooling. Those with manual controls had cooling only though.

JaseTheBass's Ranger Wildtrak has dual zone climate control, with heating and cooling. It's not as crappy as he says :P

  15. Ford pulling out of Japan and Indonesia!

    http://www.cnbc.com/2016/01/25/ford-blames-market-conditions-pulls-out-of-japan-indonesia.html

Guess we should be happy that Thailand is a key manufacturing hub for them.

Both are understandable.. In the case if Japan, just read the last quote ;)

In the case of Indonesia, it's a market absolutely dominated by small MPV's (Avanza, Mobilio, Ertiga types of cars) - while Ford do have some products in this space globally (e.g. the B-Max sold in EU), there's just no export opportunities for these cars in ASEAN and Australasia, so I can imagine why it would be hard to make a case for a production line. If you don't have a range of MPV's, you don't have a chance in Indonesia...

  16. COOL ... it's 13C here ...

9 degrees in Khao Yai this morning. Thank the maker for the heater for the school run.

It was 15 degrees Celsius this morning in the big smoke, back to normal in a couple of days

Isn't it the EVT that comes with a heater?

There are 3 zones and 15 different vents heat (or cold) can come out of in all EV variants :)
