Well that didnt last long in hua hin. The police came around at 8pm told bar owners they can stay late as curfew lifted. Then they came back at 10pm saying they have to close as police havent been paid their monthly amount from all bars yet and need to wait for that. They just want to flex their muscle again since they have been handed back their power

Just the other day a dog walked right in front of my motorcycle and caused me to skid 30m stopping just in front of truck. Minor injuries to myself and my bike.

The cafe worker that owned the dog came to patch me up and made sure I was ok then said I should discuss some money with owner of the cafe and dog. I didnt bother.

I'm glad there was someone (Thai) that stopped and helped me out. Plenty of others that liked to watch.

Thais always seem to be there to help, to what extent......but some help is better than none

I am about to buy a couple of racing style bikes. I believe better deals to be done second hand.

I know I need to request a green book but how can I be sure the bike is not under finance? And if it is how can I stop the finance company from repossessing it from me when I bought in good faith?

Is there anything else to be aware of buyimng second hand?

Arthurwait - How difficult would it be to sell a car in 12 mnths time though? I couldnt sit around for a month waiting, if I dropped it by say 15% on a 500,000 bht car (75,000) it would then be worth it but much more than that it would probably be better to lease and I could get a newer one and not have repairs and maintenance to worry about or registration?Also, as a foreigner it is difficult to get finance on a newer car.

I will check Avis out but there is a place in Hua Hin that quoted me 16000/mnth for a Vios (whatever that is), I assume a small compact car.This is almost 200,000 per year. But hassle free.

Dont bother driving there, not much there and took me an hr to find it , bad signage. Online is probably the best option.

I am moving to hua hin for at least a year or more. Can anyone suggest a company to hire out a late model sedan for a year or more at reasonable rates. Can the car be hired from bangkok and driven in hua hin?

Soooooo.... This year they state plan to change side of road you drive on. Plus adding you cannot legally sell car w right hand steering once law in affect.

Also. As a nuckle head, that "cheap" conversion from right to left hand drive is anything but cheap.

Thanks to everyone that helped, there is one department that use VPN and won't work with dynamic so have had to go with fixed/static ip. Cat do 5mb for 3500 bht and 3bb do 10mb 11000 bht with guarantees so will go with one of these, cheers

My IT guy advised

Application like Team Viewer and Logmein only allow you to get access to a particular system however they do network on thin clients and it will not give is access to the router should we need to log in.

I just signed with true for a yr on their fibre optic 50mb package but then found out it was only dynamic ip address. My IT company said I needed a static ip address so they can log in and check any future issues. Does anyone know if true can give me a static ip address for extra cost with their fibre optic line or which company can give me good speed with static ip address?

You need to be 18 to get a car license.

For motorcycle its 15 for up to 110 cc (I think) and 18 for over 110cc.

As noted above many people drive without a licence but not recommended. ( due to no insurance if you have accident etc.)

Can someone confirm this is correct as of now as I want to buy a new motorbike for my son and want to ensure I get the engine size right as he is 17.

My office is in khao takiab near hua hin, I need it done start of may but I would like to meet them this Friday or Thursday if possible to discuss my requirements. I will be at Khoa Takiab, very near Hua Hin. Do you know of any commercial solutions, the expense may be worth it to avoid interuptions and gain upload speed.

In any case I will (as a backup) look into the 2 ADSL line option as you suggest its very rare both are down at the same time.
