  1. Smoke pollution and PM 2.5 what you need to know.

Every year during the post agricultural harvest season, normally January to April, much of south east Asia suffers heavy smoke pollution which is seriously bad for your health & global warming. In some areas the smoke season starts as early as November and goes through to May.

Even if you are a fit person exposure will eventually begin to damage your health. The smoke pollution, often called haze, comes typically from burning crop residue as well as from forest fires and is up to 10 times more harmful to humans than particles released from other sources, such as car exhausts.

The World Health Organisation recommends that in the short-term the PM 2.5 should be no higher than 25, and no more than 5 for long-term exposure. These levels are in micrograms per ml of air. Tens, perhaps, hundreds of thousands of people are now suffering from haze induced illnesses, including those who have lived a healthy life style and not smoked. Many suffer symptoms like coughing, choking, asthma, vomiting, sore eyes and sinus issues. It can affect your breathing, sleep, lead to cancers, heart and lung diseases and even premature death.

Unfortunately in the short term at least the burning will continue so its absolutely important people understand the effects of exposure and take precautions.

When the smoke level goes over  you are advised by the WHO to wear a mask equivalent to a double layered 3M N95 when outside your home.

    24-Hour PM2.5 Levels (μg/m3)

    PM 2.5 Air Quality Index

    0 to 12.0
    Good

    12.1 to 35.4
    Moderate

    51 to 100
    Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups

    101 to 150.4
    Unhealthy

When inside your home you are advised to keep your windows and doors closed and run air purifiers so the level drops below 5. The only real way to monitor pollution is to have your own PM 2.5 meter or air filter with built in PM 2.5 meter. You, your family and children are at risk if you don't take care.

  2. Thai TV are showing video evidence of Ferrari driver doing about 80kms an hour in right hand lane and police bike in left hand lane just before impact and say police bike swayed over from left land 1 to right lane 3 then was hit by Ferrari. From what I see the car was no way doing 177kms per hour. Just because the guy is rich and drives a Ferrari doesn't make him guilty however he should now with the new evidence come back. Condolences to the family of the police officer.

  3. I can confirm this is correct as i came in to BKK via London yesterday with a bottle of duty free drambuie which was sealed in a security bag from Heathrow duty free. I had allready checked in my main bag for my ongoing internal flight so when I went through security they told me as from today no liquids etc even if they are in a sealed security bag so I had the option of throwing the bottle in the bin or re checking the bottle of duty free in via having it packed at the far end of departure hall for 60 baht then Checking the small box in on my internat flight at an extra 400 baht so it worked out to be quite an expensive bottle of duty free. To avoid this once you arrive in Bangkok put your duty frees in your main bag and have it bubble rapped and boxed at the post office which incidentally won't allow you to post the bottle onwards in Thailand.

  7. Used my pink I'd card to get discounted Thai price to local National park in Lampang district. One park allowed me at Thai price a different park didn't however on a second visit to the same park I finally got discounted local national price.  Also accepted at post office and Bangkok Airways flight BKK to Lampang. I obviously carried my passport in my pocket just in case. They are useful to have at only 100 baht. Wish they did ID cards in UK that would cut down on credit card fraud.

  8. Those who live in Thailand for more than half the year are considered to be resident in the country for the purposes of tax. If you are resident then you are expected to pay taxes on all income that you earn worldwide. If you are not a resident and are in the country for less than 180 days each year then you are only expected to pay tax on the income that you get from within Thailand. I

  9. There are lots of iptv services available that have servers in all different places in the world but it depends on which country you are in and how your network is and what traffic is hitting the server where you get your supply from. The cheapest is OTT by James 800 HD USA/UK channels at about £6 to £8 a month these servers are in Singapore but do beffer in peak times. The best one ive seen is NITRO tv out of USA €170 a year and you can have on 3 devices with 3 different ip addresses so you can share between 3 people.Vader streams is about the 2nd best iptv supplier for value along with the players klub. You just need to search on google and facebook. If you want free iptv best use any of the following apk files which run free servers out of pakistan with great streaming to SE ASIA which are paid for by watching a 5 second advert when you click on the channels.

    These are

    LIVE NET

    SWIFT STREAMS

    RED BOX

    UK NOW TV

With all the above app are subject to buffering in peak times especially if your watching sports. My final tip would be install CHROME which has its own built in flash player and enter this address for amazing HD iptv with hardly no buffering firstonetv.net

  11. Lazada is great untill you have a problem and sometimes it takes ages for them to sort it out. I ordered something and something completely different arrived so i sent it back over 3 weeks ago and havnt recieved a store voucher. Also with Lazada you only can return an item within 7 days if you go over by an hour they wont accept. I also use aliexpress and they have a 60 day return policy and im saving money in most cases.Obviously there are fake goods on all online sites but just look at the description and price for example Nokia 3310 @ 690 baht is obviously a fake as the original is 2000 to 3000 baht. I bought a WD hard disc at 1900 baht it looked like an original WD disc in the photo but when it arrived it was a cheap nasty copy so i sent it back paid a bit more and got the original item at 2700 baht.

  13. Lets hope that Thailand dosnt take the Portuguese approach in collecting taxes now being looked at as a role model for Europe.Everyone now is forced to be connected on line to the tax dept from the man selling sardines in the fish market to getting your hair cut everyone has to issue an electronic receipt and i mean everyone. People are then invited and sent e mails and text messages to enter weekly or monthly receipt numbers online into the tax departments computer which can be put against your anual tax return and each entry acts as a free lottery ticket where you can win each week a BMW or AUDIO car.Since theyve introduced this system they have caught out hundreds of thousands of people fiddling there taxes and have collected a massive 60 billion euros in taxes in 2014 and only around 4 million people pay taxes plus the money they make from tourism. If you walk out of a shop and fail to produce a receipt for your goods to a street tax inspector you get an on the spot fine of 80 euros. That will probably never happen here but the Portuguese are leading in collecting taxes from citizons.
