    My BKK Bank card says it is good till Aug 2019. Sounds like people are saying they are switching the cards off Jan. 1 2019. Really? Doesn't seem right, but TIT. Anyone heard from their bank?

    Bank of Thailand says that you need to change from Magnetic Stripe Debit Card to a Chip Debit Card by 31st December 2019.

  2. About 9 years ago I stayed at the Windsor Suites Hotel in Bangkok and witness the exact behavior from Chinese tourist.

    I have stopped patronizing two hotels in Bangkok because of the hoards of Chinese tour groups they now cater to. I just got fed up with the shoving, shouting, and me-first mentality in the lobbies, elevators and restaurants. Plus, Thai staff allowed them to smoke everywhere.

    •Mao must be proud of the unethical, course, and self-centered offspring he has sired.

    •T.A.T. must be proud of the Pandora's box it has opened.

    •I am proud that I can still vote with my feet and go elsewhere--for the time being.

    It was a long time ago as I was checking into a nice Thai hotel when the coach parties arrived and suddenly my position at the check-in desk was disturbed and I was 4 people back. Soon I would hope Thai hotels list whether or not they accept Chinese tour groups in a way they might list whether they accept pets.

    I think it would be a great idea if someone set up some sort of wiki or forum to list hotels in Thailand that cater to mainland Chinese tour groups. That would certainly be a consideration for me in selecting a hotel.

    Agreed.

  3. Yes. Uber in Bangkok is much much better than Grab taxi. Its reached a point where I never have to wait more than 5-10 minutes in central Bangkok.

    I never use Grabtaxi anymore as its no longer a necessary alternative to Uber.

    However, it might work in Chiang Mai because according to the Citylife article they are or will be charging 50 baht on top of the meter and because of who the owner of the new taxi coop is.

    Exactly, this is why I prefer UberX and GrabCar Economy all the way.

  4. <script type='text/javascript'>window.mod_pagespeed_start = Number(new Date());</script>

    As for the international gateway they say that premier is on an other network with more bandwith allocated. I cant be sure of those claims as for skype and newsgroups i was faster with both normal and FTTx.

    Mind you a good router helps a bit too.

    Exactly.

    I currently use Huawei EchoLife HG8045A for the 3BB FTTx and do you use Huawei too?

  5. <script type='text/javascript'>window.mod_pagespeed_start = Number(new Date());</script>

    <script type='text/javascript'>window.mod_pagespeed_start = Number(new Date());</script>

    Better how?

    Can you elaborate?

    I have been with True Cable Internet for the last 4 years and True Cable Internet used the Coaxial Cable so the speed is not that stable due to a lot of random disconnections where the speed is extremely slow.

    While 3BB FTTX is the best due to the fibre to the home technology is more stable than True and you can use it all day without worrying about the Internet going down (eg. Rainy Season). This technology is a true optical fiber to replace all or part of the usual copper local look used for telecommunications.

    Also, FTTX has a lower bing than True Cable Internet and in the future there will be plan to raise the speed up to 1000 mbps using FTTX.

    I hope you get my point.

    You talk like 3bb salesman.

    Docsis 3.0 used by True can be considered as FTTx and these coaxial cables are pretty stable. If yours wasn't, perhaps you lived too far from True node.

    Nobody with right mind will get 1000mbps from 3bb when they offer it. Who wants to pay 1k$ - 2k$ usd per month for 1gbit/s domestic internet speed?

    I checked 3bb pings. Some locations like Amsterdam, NL, 3bb has better pings. US west coast, cat/true has better pings.

    The only reason I could get 3bb is, True's lower performance on VOIP applications due to some sort of blocking / throttling. Assuming 3BB does not scramble voip packets.

    Exactly.

    I'm not a 3BB salesman. I currently live in the middle of Bangkok (Pratunam) near 3BB node and around here there's too many

    True Cable Internet user so this is why I can't stand the speed of True Internet.

    Suddenly 3BB has come around my area so this is why I keep boasting about 3BB is better than True Cable Internet.

  6. <script type='text/javascript'>window.mod_pagespeed_start = Number(new Date());</script>

    You need to find whatever is not popularly used in your area. Perhaps AIS Airnet?

    30/3 for 1200 baht compared to True online is good pricing, but don't expect 3bb to perform any better during peak hours.

    I currently using 3BB FTTX 30/3 in Bangkok and it's better than True Cable Internet btw.

    Better how?

    Can you elaborate?

  7. I dont know about you guys but trinet has completely F'ed me. I went 1 full day with full bars but cant do anything at all... even make emergency calls. I went to dtac and they fixed my apn... the phone then worked at the dtac store, full bars. I get home and no service at all. Cant do anything. Funny because my girlfriend and I have the same phone and the same plan. She was never upgraded. I noticed last night that I am on DTAC and shes on dtac. I switched to dtac... full bars but says im roaming and I cant do anything even with roaming enabled.

    Long story short. A few days ago im almost always on full signal strength. Now im almost always on 2 bars or less and 50% of the time no reception at all. Not even roaming.

    Is there a way to get out of the contract? I know in the civilized world if you have no reception at home they let you out for free...

    Dreaming of switching to AIS....

    Sent from my GT-I9500

    When a person switches to TriNet the 2100Mhz becomes their "Home network" frequency and will be used whenever possible. When the 2100Mhz is too weak/absent then TriNet is suppose to automatically switch you to the 850Mhz (3G) or 1800Mhz (Edge) and you would see an R for Roaming appear...and it appears you may even have to have Mobile Data Roaming turned on (default is off) to ensure the proper switching. You are not charged anything additional for roaming off your Home 2100Mhz DTAC network as you are just being switched over to the DTAC 850/1800Mhz network.

    Assuming you are connected to the 2100Mhz frequency and possibly in a weak reception area for 2100Mhz it may not take very much to make the 2100Mhz signal strength/number of bars vary up or down easily. Just in my two story home when on 2100Mhz walking from downstairs to upstairs can make a big signal strength difference, but on 850Mhz there is little change since 850Mhz has better building penetrating ability than 2100Mhz. And it won't matter if you are on DTAC, AIS, or whoever "2100Mhz" if the 2100Mhz signal in your area is weak then it may not take much in walking around your residence/immediate area to notice major signal strength changes. It all depends on the signal strength at your particular point on Earth....move to another point say a 100 meters away or put some more concrete walls/ceilings between your phone and the signal and you can experience big changes in signal strength on 2100Mhz...less so on 850Mhz. Since my home (my point on Earth) is in a weak signal strength area for DTAC 2100Mhz I've just set my phone to connect to the "dtac" network vs the "DTAC" network and my 850Mhz signal is strong and fast.

    I agree with you there.

  8. DTAC TriNet:

    Yes It will be working in Pattaya and the whole of Chonburi.

    It will be 3G 2100 Mhz so your Samsung Galaxy S4 will be fully compatible and the Mobile Internet will be faster.

    DTAC Trinet will be launched officially on the 23rd July 2013.

    is that working in pattaya?

    that means my samsung S4 should get 3G 2100MHZ? net should be faster ?

    prices for net packages stay the same right?
