  1. I'm a bit confused by this news article in the OP. :D

Thailand has been drug-free for well over three years now.

    What on Earth happened??? :o

Thaksin declares the country 'drug free area'

    Published on Apr 13, 2003

"The government is pleased to announce that the country is now a drug-free area and will proclaim victory in its war on drugs," said Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra.

Not only is he into voodoo but he's also a time traveler. He came from the future (side effect=square head) in 2003 to make this announcement but forgot to mention which year it will happen. Of course, he did not mention TRT being dissolved, his multiple jail terms that followed, friends bringing him presents like soap on a rope in jail, seized assets, Pojaman fleeing to Burma with the new car on a full gas tank and a 500 baht note and some loose change left in the ashtray, the multiple colonoscopies his children will undergo when tax evasion inquiries get real serious.

Sounds crazy? Read his public statements over the last 6 years...

  2. 3 cheers for the Boys In BLUE :o

Same boys who shot that Brazilian in the underground last year and came up with false statements as to why they shot him?

Hmmm...Oliver Stone's 9/11 movie premieres, anniversary of 9/11 only weeks away, latest polls show 60% of Americans against the Iraq war, meanwhile Israel moves further into Lebanon and Iran sweats, and now at a very timely moment another "terrrrrrr plot" is thwarted, yet no firm details revealed...only suggestions about the likely source of the "plot" and some arrests of Britons of ...you guessed it...Pakistani origin...all very curious. Am I the only one who think something stinks in the coalition of the witless?

Washington just loves these situations. Maybe they should have had another version of one of these 150-hsas.gif to show the failure levels of their foreing policies over the last few decades.

This whole war on terror stinks fruitbatt, we have been lied to by our governments before, and more lies will come until they reach their ultimate goal. I find it very hard to believe what is reported to us from our governments now.

The war on drugs has been a flop, the war on terror is and will be an even bigger flop. Drug use and terrorist attacks are both on a steady rise.

  3. Why hasn't Thailand done what Viet Nam did: vaccinate all the chickens in the country? Although Viet Nam has had a high number of deaths (42) it has not had any outbreak this year. Thailand's policy of not preventing, but eradicating after an outbreak is demonstrably less effective. Did TH adopt this policy to save money for Charoen Pokpand and other large poultry producers?

No, things are run this way so that soon C.P (Charoen Pokpand) will be the only ones allowed to raise poultry, saying only they can effectively monitor the chickens while open farms will be blamed for the outbreaks, not the lack of government help with vaccinations.

I had some dodgy chicken last week (10baht chicken leg), and after eating that, had the worst flu I ever experienced. As far as I recall, I did not encounter anyone with flu, nor did I get cold, wet, or was under the weather. Well I guess I have resistance to it now, and the girlfriend will also be resistant to it as soon as she gets better :D

Thank you for reassuring us you have indeed consulted a doctor :o

  4. For any lawyers or other knowledgeable folks.

Are all court cases in Thailand eligible for appeal? Are all convicted persons granted bail during appellate process?

My undersatnding of the appeals process, is that only those convicted who can show an irregularity or mis-application of law in the initial trial may be granted an appeal. Otherwise you have a case of just rehashing everything, tying up the docket, until you get the result you seek. Additionally, those with medical maladies are generally sent to the medical wing of the prison, are they not?

Can anyone provide any illumination beyond TiT?

The prisons are loaded with HIV positive convicts and whatever disease you can come up with, you don't see them walking about do you? Freedom for these three stooges is a repeat of a never ending cycle, no real harsh consequences for big wigs. Face my a55. Screw up a country's election and do 3 days in the slammer, get arrested with a joint and see how long you get to stay.

Stand up straight like real men. There will be plenty of time to stare at the jail cell's floor later on.

Now, time to weed out the source of the real problem why the EC is headed to the big house, the guy in black and white.

  6. I'll try to explain this best I can.

1- We started this company a year ago (co.ltd.)

At first, we tried doing business online only, selling products abroad for a Thai friend ouf ours who is manufacturing here in Thailand. Trying to compete online was quite a challenge and I came to the conclusion that we had to try something else. We did not invest much as I had taken care of creating the website, managing our mail server and everythig related myself. There are 7 shareholders, including my wife and I. I represent 1% as my sister in law ( accountant who takes care of the whole family's finances) warned that if I was to hold 49% , I'd end up paying too much in taxes. Other shareholders are all in-laws and are not involved physically or financially. May I add that they are very honest people and, already wealthy and accepted to be shareholders only to help us establish this company. We never bothered getting a work permit as all the work was done online and servers hosted in the U.S. (even though a work permit is required by law).

2- We will now be manufacturing on our side in cooperation with our same Thai friend, sub-contracting actually. We have hired a staff of twenty, equipment is installed and ready for production, this week hopefuly, at a location we chose to rent for now. My sister in-law has mentioned that I can actually obtain a work permit with our company ONLY after the company has showed profit for two consecutive years. She is a certified accountant, is usually spot on with laws and does work for foreign companies established here as well.

    What to do?

I really want to be part of the whole thing and not simply have all responsibilities resting on my wife's shoulders.

I would like to add that the money used for purchasing machinery, rent and all was invested somewhere else but was recently transfered to our joint account in order to start this up.

    Thanks,

    Tony

  7. Thanks all for your help!

Site and everything under it is accessible now...

The web hosting support says the ticket was still opened and they haven t done or found anything to fix the problem as it seemed the problem originated from here with the ip/url blocked...

Same pc and I haven t tried anything new. Others within Thailand can access it now as well.

    Thanks CAT! :o

It's for a Thai company that hosts it s website in the U.S. for r-e-l-i-a-b-i-l-i-t-y.

  8. Hi, your help would be greatly appreciated with this problem.

I m trying to access a website based in the U.S. and can not access it from within Thailand when it is accessible from Europe and North America. This has been going on for 2 weeks now. It is accessible through proxy though but no graphics are shown and I need to see the interface.

Everything under that .com address is inaccessible and I am the admin. Refreshed, deleted cookies, temps, same same.

There is no porn or offensive material on the site. The host says everything is fine with the server. Is it possible that access has been blocked by CAT and that the following message is not sent from the target site host but by whoever has denied access from here?

    Gateway Timeout

    The following error occurred:

A gateway timeout occurred. The server is unreachable. Retry the request.

    Please contact the administrator. [/color]

Just reply on here and I'll PM you the necessary information.

    Thank you.

  9. Hi :o

I am trying to find paper rolls, white or brown. The size of the rolls has to be minimum 1 meter wide. For the lenght I need at least 200 meters but 4 x 25 meters or else would be easier to handle. The paper's thickness would be preferable at over 120 gsm (grams per square meter), thicker than your average A4 sheet of paper (80gsm).

A paper mill has some but their smallest roll weighs 2 tons! There must be someone down the chain making smaller rolls of the stuff.

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

    Tony

  10. I would like to include SSL in a webstore in order to protect any information flowing between the store and customers. The server host does provide free use of a shared SSL certificate but from what I understand these can only be used with 3rd level domain names as in website.go.tst.de We have a dedicated IP address and .com domain.

I am still confused about the quality, validity of most certificates as the prices range from 69$/year to over a thousand. The ones I looked at were mostly the popular ones such as VeriSign, GeoTrust etc.

Your suggestions would be well appreciated.

    Regards,

    Tony :o
