I was going to say to not worry about what everybody is saying here and just be positve. We all have done things that we are not proud of and i am sure she is the same in this respect. But i do believe from what you have said that she used the money without telling you because she didn't want to upset you.
Does she have most of the money now for the application?
If it is only a small amount to make up then give it to her and do the application.
But I think you should have a long talk and make it clear that if there are any problems or anything then you are to both talk about it. Talk about everything.
Hope it all works out well.

I personally can't stand when they resize my window.
There is a reason my window is that size and i don't need someone else changing my settings.
Plus downloading spam tools / spyware / adware onto my machine.
When are the authorities going to get tough and stop this behaviour by webmasters and developers. Don't think anyone likes this except the webmaster and of course computer technicians that get paid to clean this shit off.

Afternoon all...
Question regarding proof of relationship required for the fiancee visa.
The form i am reading on the Australian Immigration website states that i need to show the evidence that my partner and I share financial commitments and responsibilities. I.E. sharing of finances.. dual bank accounts etc...
We are not married and have never lived together.. we have been living in 2 different countries... What makes the immigration department think that we would want to operate a bank account together or share finances if we are in different countries? How do they expect us to comply with this request?
Has anyone run into this problem?
Has anyone had their application rejected for this reason..?
I know i can make a quick call to the immigration department for them to answer my question however i wish to know some opinions of people whos sallary is not affected by rate of incoming calls per day. Any comments would be appreciated
Cheers
Does your girlfriend work?
Does she support herself fully with her work?
If she doesn't support herself fully do you support her with wire transfers to her bank account?
These wire transfers could be evidence of support and shared funds.
Provide CERTIFIED COPIES NOT ORIGINALS of all your wire transfers and current balances of both your and your partners bank accounts.
Personally I am in the middle of doing our fiance visa so do not know the final outcome as yet.
We have a joint bank account opened when my partner came here to Australia on a visitor visa. So we are showing them money going into the account at my end and being taken out at her end. Also providing copies of bank statements of mine and wire transfers before opening a bank account.
Remember only to supply copies that have been certified as such by a JP. Don't supply originals as you may not get them back. But have originals ready if they need to see them.
Hope this helps.

Thanks to all the posts that I have read, and the valuable information. Can someone please clairfy all the different visa descriptions, ex single entry, multiple entry, O visa, O-A visa, three months, one year, etc. If I understand the process, you apply outside of Thailand at a Thai Embassy office for a retirement visa. A three month non-immigrant visa is issued, and once at BKK, you go to immigration and have it extended for one year. Any help with the process is greatly appreciated. Bob
All the non-immigrant visa types are described in detail right here on the ThaiVisa website.
Non-Immigrant visa Thailand website and for more information just click on the visa type to the left of screen.
Hope this helps

There has been a lot of talk about investing in currencies such as the USD or the Euro but I was wondering what people thought about the Thai Baht. The economy here in Asia and Thailand has been quite strong as opposed to the rest of world.
I was not thinking of investing directly (bank account), but more so in an indirect fashion such as the purchase of property.

Well I have upgraded to the Gillette Mach 3 Turbo and am now shaving with the grain as opposed to against it. Takes a little longer shaving and a little more care but the end result is definitely worth it.
It is really quite smooth. Just have to do a few sweeps of the face. But the main benifit is that all the irritation has gone.
Now shaving is not so much of a chore any more.
I hadn't heard of lazer removal before but i don't think i will be contemplating that or electrolysis any more. Can't stand pain and do not fancy going back time after time for repeat treatments.

BANGKOK, Thailand - More than 600 policemen in the Thai capital have temporarily lost the right to issue tickets to motorists after failing a test on traffic law, a senior police officer said Monday.
I didn't think they issued tickets anyway. Weren't they just collecting tea money and asking people not to do it again.

Bathing is a major nuisance for these folks as their accomodations are lucky to have even a cold shower.
Or any shower, normally a tip-over arrangement i think.
I didn't realise they did shower DJ Pat. Wouldn't this get in the way of growing their dreadlocks?

Thanks for all the replies
Wow... I didn't realise that you would need so many treatments for electrolysis to work. However, expect to have electrolysis for a period of between 3 months and 1 Year at approx 1 hour each session. You pay per session, expect an average of 80 sessions.I might upgrade to a Mach 3 turbo then. Have the standard mach 3 now.
Have also used shaving oils, moisturiser, gel and lather cream. They some better than others but still a bit of irritation.
gillette mach 3 turbo , wilkinson shaving brush and body shop for men shaving cream with sesame oil. build up a thick lather and wait a few minutes.always shave "with the grain" , if you shave "against the grain" it will encourage rashes and you are more likely to get cuts. use a magnifying shaving mirror , it makes things a lot easier.
Taxexile your advice seems pretty good. Quite a few years ago i shaved with the grain but there was still a bit of stubble left so i changed my style to against and it cut the hairs off at the skin. This may have been the problem but it did give me a closer shave.
-
Personally i dislike shaving. Add to this my facial hair regrows quite quickly.
The missus doesn't like my having stubble.
Plus if i shave too often then i get a lot of irritation on the face especially around the base of the hairs.
I have heard about electrolysis but do not know about its effectivness. I am really after a permanent solution if i could as i don't think i want a beard later on.
Can somebody please advise about electrolysis on the face and if it is available in bangkok.

Maybe buffy is a troll.
If he is being extradites and the dutch and thai governments have had to go to all expense and trouble to bring him back then wouldn't buffy be under police "care".
I may be wrong but then i can't see why he would be posting here if he was in the midst of an extradition case.
Just my thoughts

Rankings of asian countries

Japan 17
Hong Kong 18
Taiwan 21
Sth Korea 30
Malaysia 36
Thailand 42
Sri Lanka 43
Phillipines 44
China 60
Vietnam 61
Indonesia 71
India 73
Dunno how they worked out the list but it doesn't look right sometimes when you look at the whole listing. Think someone on the take when they were compiling these figures.

Thailand is ranked at number 42 out of 111

get ready for more carnage at songkran
Second that Toast. With the driving style the thais have and blatant disregard for rules and police not willing to effectively enforce them it is little wonder the toll is as high as it is. People are so desensitised to motorbike accidents that they don't even really care about them or just stand on the sidewalk and laugh whilst a fallen biker has to pick his bike up. Add to this the car that hit him gets pissed because they have to wait for the rider to pick up his/her bike. Plus people think it funny to throw water at bikes as they are minding their own business.

$3000 Maternity Payment
A few months ago i was pondering whether to have the baby in Australia or Thailand.
Centerlink Quoted that it did not matter in which country the baby was born just that the hospital concerned fill in some paperwork.
Can't seem to find the papers. But will go again on monday and get a copy.
The payment is handled by the Department of Families/Family Assistance Office
Eligibility for Maternity PaymentMaternity Payment is payable to:
* A parent of a baby if the parent meets all other eligibility criteria at any time within 13 weeks of the baby's birth; or
* A parent of a stillborn baby if the parent would have met all the other criteria if the baby had not been stillborn; or
* A claimant who is entrusted with the care of a newborn baby if the claimant meets all other eligibility criteria within 13 weeks of the baby's birth and if the claimant is likely to continue to have care of the child for no less than 13 weeks; or
* A claimant who, before a baby is 26 weeks of age, has the baby entrusted to their care because the claimant will be adopting the baby, provided the claimant meets all other eligibility criteria within 13 weeks of the baby coming into the care of the claimant.
The other eligibility criteria for Maternity Payment are generally that:
* the claimant and the baby must meet Australian residency requirements(1)
* the claimant must be legally responsible, either alone or with another adult, for the day-to-day care, welfare and development of the baby(2); and
* the claimant must satisfy tax file number requirements(3); and
* the claimant must lodge an effective claim within 26 weeks of the baby's birth or, in the case of adopting parents, within 26 weeks of the baby coming into their care.
They have now extended it to adopted children as well.

KhunAus I don't think that bronco was nitpicking and he has always been a wealth of information to a lot of people. But in order for anyone to help more information is needed.
How pregnant is your partner? Because i have heard that airlines won't take a pregnant lady over 7 months. Should check with the individual airlines for this.
I was thinking the same thing. Bring my thai girlfriend over and have baby in australia. But have decided to have baby in thailand because of the cost involved and also didn't think the visa would have been approved. Baby would get au passport but you can't prove the baby is yours until the baby is born. So i didn't think imigration would like a baby without a parent whom was an australian citizen themselves. Puts immigration in a sticky situation. So with this logic i thought it would have been denied. But i may have been wrong.
Have since learned that my baby will get au passport straight away after a blood test. As it is my baby also. Also eligible for the $3000 baby bonus. Now just have to wait for missus to get visa to come to australia which will be after baby is born.
Hope this helps

MY first Thai gf was great, until she had a drink..................................... she was a good fighter also.......eventually the knife came into play one day, that was the end, I disarmed her, gave her a slap, took her to the tourist police and said goodbye, that was 14 years ago.
Never again will I find myself in that situation. You see, I thought I could live with it as it only happened occasionally, it was a mistake, I find if a women starts to get violent with you and you do nothing, she will eventually get more bold and out will come the weapons.
Many men live with abuse from a violent spouse, this sometimes gets overlooked.
Knock her out next time, see if she calms down a bit!
"Knock her out?"
You aren't advocating violence yourself are you good doctor john? I thought you were a saint that could do no wrong. Maybe this was a freudian slip. Maybe not.
Honestly i think all you need is good communication and this will solve all problems. Not talking at all or being violent as an answer is not the answer at all. They are as bad as each other. One is emotional the other physical.
EVERYTHING has to be talked about and you both need to understand each others wishes and thoughts otherwise there will be missunderstanding and not knowing which in itself leads to more problems.
If there is violence, non should be coming back as this says that it is ok for me but not for you. Quite a contradiction in terms.
Talking along with listening means understanding.

Just interested to know as I have some very good legal ideas about operating long hours.
Such as?
Correct me if i am wrong but the consumption of alcohol isn't illegel only the sale of such at certain times.
So why not set up a small BYO bar with music and pool tables. Or people could have a pre purchased bottle behind the counter. You are not selling it to them only giving them what they have previously bought.
But then the tricky part. How to make money. You could have regular alcohol and drink sales during legal times and then when curfew starts only sell ice and coke/soda.
Just a few thoughts. Good Luck

Out of curiosity have there always been katoeys in thailand or is it only been in relatively recent time (last 10 - 20 years)?
And if it was recent what could have caused it?
-
Maybe there are no more here than elsewhere, it's just that in other countries they have to keep low key about it, in Thailand nobody cares.
Same as with gays, in some countries they are discriminated against or ridiculed, maybe in Thailand there is more tolerance and acceptance so people do not have to hide what they really are.
I would also have to agree totally with what DrJohn said.
In Australia a few years ago there was a bit of a problem with gay people getting beat up for no reason and in a few cases dying. For this reason a lot don't come out because of quite a few fears.
Whatever happened to the old saying live and let live. After all are they really hurting anybody.
But then again we are who we are through learnt experiences. So if we see these things at an early age we take it as the perceived norm. Thereby in the future generations it may become more pronounced. That may be what we are seeing now.
My wifes 2 year old son is already showing manerisms of a katoey. This has been picked up from her brother and his friends. I don't like it but it's just something he has learnt. It is funny for others to see, so he does it for attention. Hopefully i can take him away from that environment and unteach him soon. He has even been taught to squat to piss and not stand up.

Op what was your kids wanting to study as different universities would specialise in different faculties. This would also make the best university list obsolete as the best would only be the best at one thing.
Also with the debate on who invented the computer i think you are all wrong as it was the babylonians whom first invented the abacus about 3000 years ago.
After that it was the europians who perfected various counting machines (mechanical computers).
But it wasn't until Konrad Zuse, a German engineer, completes the first general purpose progammable calculator in 1941. He pioneers the use of binary math and boolean logic in electronic calculation. This was the first electronic computer. Source Here

Thanks a lot Bronco.
It is after all quite expensive so if we can save 10% then all the better.
Ac
in Health and Medicine
Posted
On my last flight i decided to watch the inflight safety video. Normally just start reading the newspaper.
On this it stated that the ac in the plane can dry your eyes and nose and throat.
To counter this it was advised to get a warm wet towel place it over your face and breath in through the towel this will relieve the symptoms of dehydration. Pretty sure it would be the same at home as the home a/c also dries out the air.
But maybe a better solution is to not have the a/c on all the time. Won't be so hot when you do decide to go outside. At least you will be a little more used to the heat.
Hope this helps.
