I would also ask what it was like getting the police report and 5 disease check (leprosy, syphilis, et al) in Vietnam so that you could get that O-A visa. Here in China, it takes about a year to process a police report and I cannot find any hospital or clinic that can check for all of the diseases on the list. I called the Thai Embassy in Beijing and asked if they could recommend a place and they basically told me: "not their problem".

No police check, no disease check. Never heard of that for getting OA visa for Thailand, well not from UK anyway. Heard maybe police check if apply in Thailand for OA visa

Quite painless I must admit, only worry I had was flight was booked on 10th and there is no updates on how Thai Pass application so worry have to change flights, 1 day quarantine at last minute but thankfully no

  3. @KhaoYai Thanks for info. I am only working in Vietnam temporary, I work all over the world and will be here in Vietnam until Nov or Dec then home for a few months hopefully.

Hopefully once I get visa based on marriage again I can do same as before and make sure I'm home when it needs renewing. I used to do this before but Covid messed that up.

  4. Ok thanks for the clarity guys, my confusion.

So exactly same as before then.

As for 400,000 I keep that in bank and never touch it. My security so I know I always have money for visa regardless of work situation.

I can't wait to get home, hopefully Nov or Dec.

See you guys for a beer sometime ????????

  5. Thanks for reply guys. So that's easy then, I can enter Thailand on 30 days visa exempt (UK passport) then apply for visa based on marriage. I have 400,000 in Thai bank account and had a marriage visa before but due to covid and work commitments haven't been able to get home since Sept 2019. Last time I had 90 day visa from UK then applied for marriage visa in last 30 days. So this time I apply as soon as I can when I enter on visa exempt. Happy days

  6. Hi All,

    Hope you can help.

I am UK citizen working in Vietnam and want to get a 90 Day Visa and then change this to a visa based on marriage when I'm home in Thailand. Can I obtain the 90 Day Visa at the Thai Embassy here in Hanoi, Vietnam or do I have to return to UK to obtain my 90 day visa.

This would be a major pain if I have to fly all way to UK to get 90 day visa then fly all the way back to Thailand whereas now I'm 1 HR flight away here in Vietnam.

    Cheers.

  7. They are absolutely correct to keep quarantine for vaccinated tourists. It has been proven that although you have been vaccinated you can still be a carrier and infect other people so until nearly everybody vaccinated it is not much good for mass movement of people. And trust me I have not been home for 18 months because of where I work and quarantine restrictions but also I have an 20 month old baby at home and won't risk her health until I know for sure it is safe for me to go home. Also Thailand can not cope with an outbreak like the west is having and struggling with, it will be overwhelmed

  8. Does anyone have any info on the building company Thaihousebuilder, not to be confused with company with similar name. I am looking to start a building project and first rounds of talks gone very well but i just want to dot the i's and cross the t's before i commit fully. I am looking for some feed back and if anyone has anything I'd be grateful.

    Cheers all.
