I haven't bought anything from here yet.

Find a local pig farmer and ask for the belly cuts and make your own bacon, the tricky bit is finding the curing salt, I found some at a Chinese chemist in Nakhon Sawnan.
Expand your expertise!

I would suggest buy land in your partner's name and take an income from that, i.e. rent it out.
Yes you have to trust her, then to pass time you might want to build yourself an aquaponics system, if it's big enough you might make a profit.

You'll find people who have lived here a fair amount of time are very cynical when we hear stories like this.
I would say come over to Thailand on holiday and make plans to be a singe traveller and see if she gets in touch when you are here, if you beleive her excuses for going quiet go and see her then.
Be very careful of Thai ladies, that's not to say they are all bad I am married with a daughter, but there a lot of schemers about.
Look on the web for Mor Chit bus station in BKK that's the main one. A taxi from the airport will probably be 3500thb or so.

Hello All,
I live in Nakhon Sawan and with a bit of luck will be starting a system up come April. I've been researching it for a year now and plan a CHIFT system with 2000litres of fish tank a 1000litre sump and 4000Litres of growbed.
I'll let you know how it all goes!
I'll use IBC's for this one, if all goes well then I plan something larger in the future.
Robert of Aquaponics Thailand has a massive spread out Phitsanalok way, I haven't been to visit him yet but intend to soon.
All the best!

My Thai girlfriend looked into insuring my cameras and stuff (about 240,000 new) in a condo I am renting off a Thai colleague. Both said no company would touch me.

Funny how Thailand is inexplicable to the Western media, while Egypt and the Ukraine are crystal clear, i.e. it's OK for democratically elected leaders who abuse their power and don't favour Western interests to be deposed through protests without bleading hearted cries from the BBC, CNN et al.
Bang on Dogmatix!
You missed a few countries off the Biased Broadcasting Corporation's list though!

Late last month I was checking on skyscanner flights from Glasgo to BKK. The Thai Airways flight left Glasgow, arrived and left Dubai and arrived in BKK at exactly the same times as the Emirates flight I booked (codeshare).
The difference in price? - Thai was 300% more expensive!

From Bloomberg:-
“This is not the end,” said Somjai Phagaphasvivat, a political science lecturer at Thammasat University in Bangkok. “It’s clear that this draft bill is totally against the rule of law, freeing those convicts. It’s against the constitution.”
Now I suspect this gentleman may know a thing or two about the Thai legal system.

Aye, I thought it was a longer exposure if not the trigger. Nice work, these shots can be a real test of patience!

Here's a stirke in Thong Lor during last night's storm. It's a bit out of focus unfortunately - but hey, that's showbusiness!
Wow, it was the right moment... :-)
Here I was lucky as well (not sure if i posted it somewhere already,,,?)
That's an impressive shot Zappalot. Forgive me for asking.....do you have a lightning trigger?

Ok we know polls aren't always 100% accurate but there is something in this result.

This caused the government to ask a professor of statistics at Singapore university to write an article for the Straits Times saying the way the data was collected was all wrong! haha
There is a saying about Singapore ladies want the 'Five C's'. Cash, Car (horrendously expensive with 275% tax on eurpopean models), Condos (again horrendously expensive), Career and Credit card.
I travel a lot around SE asia I have noticed more Singaporean men with wives from Thailand, Vietnam and Malaysia.
I have a Singaporean colleague (born and lived in the UK then Thailand and just changed citizenship last year) who has sold his car now the MRT is within walking distance, he spend the money on a 3 week holiday to New Zealand for the family. He told me his wife's Singaporean friends and family were agasht he had disposed of such a status symbol.
Thailand is a great place but the level of corruption is holding it way back compared to some of it's neighbours. I'm not long back from a trip to sleepy Penang, my Thai wife was so surprised how many people spoke perfect English (I know it was a colony until 1967). It seemed to be properly geared up for tourism with new buses and signs/timetables to make everything easier for its visitors.
When would you see the like in Phuket for example?

Perhaps two brown envelopes did the trick?

The poor keep getting poorer in every country.
Stop comparing us with other countries, this is Thailand we are on own, with our own ethics and culture, our problems are our problems, not just some other country that you can compare us with
OK, what about the poor keep getting poorer in most countries but especially so in countries where the government is corrupt and self serving and pays merely lip service to the needs the poor.
Like for example.... Thailand.
And the UK, and the USA.......the bankers and corporations come first - to blazes with the proles!

I just found out about the 27 Buddahs before Siddartha. How many locals know this I wonder?
