  1. I think a major problem with a lot of thai politicians is that they are afraid of change. They seem to be so scared that PT will do a better job than they did (tried), that they'll go to any length to stop them winning.

To be honest it's difficult to see any type of fair election happening. Ultimately the man in the palace is going to have his opinion and that'll be that.

  2. Just looking around and I've discovered that you can buy routers that have a sim card slot.Something like that combined with a thunder sim card might just be worth looking into.

I could then connect my Chromecast with Google TV to it and play my IPTV through it. Not sure if it would work, but worth trying I think.

  3. Is there such thing as an Internet provider that let's you only activate your package when you're in the country? I'll be coming and going between Europe and Thailand and I'd like to have Internet when I arrive and just enable / disable as I come and go.

Just find it a waste of money paying for Internet /TV for my house when I'm not here.

    Cheers

  4. And so the Thai political cycle continues. When are they ever going to learn ? .How many coups has there been over the last few decades ?.What have they achieved after each coup ?.The sooner the thai politicians grow up the better.Enough of all this kindergarden politics.

All you people pointing the finger of blame need to wake up.It doesn't matter who's to blame. One party is as guilty as the next one. They're all big children who can't accept a beating. All bad losers. It's such a shame that you have a beautiful country with wonderful folk but it's all been ruined over and over by the never ending political circus.Doesn't matter who's in charge, they're all corrupt and it's the ordinary thai people who are suffering.

  5. I found myself in the same boat last year.My other half had been living in europe for most of her adult life, and decided it was time to go home.I was loving the idea about living in Thailand and she was looking forward to living with her family and friends again.Well to cut a long story short,we didn't last a year in Thailand. She couldn't handle all the unorganized chaos.A lot of the problems we had have already been mentioned in this thread.I could of easily stayed there, but I could see that she wasn't happy.I was livid at first when she said she wanted to go back to europe, because we gave up everything to move to Thailand, but it wasn't worth the hassle of having an unhappy woman around the house so we moved back. She's happy now but says she'll only go back to live in Thailand when it becomes a "civilized land" (her words not mine) .

  6. ...or just use the wonderful, and free, "Hola" add on to Chrome or Firefox browsers. you then get full access to BBC iPlayer and also the American providers "Hulu" and "Netflix" - although Hulu has tons of annoying adverts; Netflix has no adverts but requires a $7.99/month subscription.

    Hola rocks!

    Hola doesn't have BBC anymore.

  7. I'll never understand people who make big moves without trying it out first.

I'd been here plenty of times before I came here to live.I knew what to expect.Just hasn't turned out as we expected. She's been struggling to adapt.Everything that she used to know 25 years ago has all changed. She's totally lost here, and with her being lost it doesn't help me to adapt.

Visiting isn't the same as moving. Selling everything before actually living here for a longer period is ... obviously not the best move.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing ;) .We didn't have an option of keeping everything in europe on hold.Couldn't get 6 months leave from work and wouldn't of been able to afford two houses.Seemed like a good idea at the time. All I can say is that we've tried it,and it didn't go the way we wanted. You live and you learn ;)

  9. p.s. just re-read your post. Mission accomplished = transfer of capital from you to her family. Not that hard to understand Thai women.

It's not like that.I'll still have financial control, but her two muppet brothers will have to do the work.Their idea of quality, and my idea of quality are moons apart and that's what worries me.
