...and so on, with no sign of the OP.

Given some of the posts, why are you surprised?

No, not at all surprised, just pointing it out for those that may have missed it (and are genuinely trying to be helpful). This seems pretty standard for first post threads. I don't think one should be able to start a thread without some post count on the forum first. Would keep out trolls and those that create another alias just to post something they wouldn't under their current name.

    But I don't want a girl my own age (60+), I want a 20 year old.

When I was in my teens I thought women in their late 20s were hot.

In my late 20s women of my own age were the most attractive ones.

Once in my 30s I started liking women a bit younger than myself.

Mid 40s it was women nearly 20 years younger that turned me on.

Now in my early 50s I consider women half my age most interesting.

Our tastes change quite a bit as we grow older...

My Old Ford has got oodlles of miles on her, but she has never quit on me or ever let me down even once. Cheap to own and run also. Wash her down and Wax her, and doll her up some, and she looks like new. Or at least in the dark anyway.

Just the other day I passed 3 newer models on the highway all parked with there hoods up. Exotic Machinery may be more eye catching, but that doesn't mean there performnace is any better, or even as good, as the older more trusted models.

Guys who keep trading in there Older Models for newer ones every few years are never happy with what they have. Many times they end up with something far worst. Then comes the time when they run out of money and are stuck with the one they don't like. Maybe wishing they kept that Old Ford like I did.

Sandflies and mozzies are an issue with beach walking if late afternoon. Prefer to swim than walk on sand. Chumphon was the worst place for that. That place had lots of flies as well. The 3 most annoying pests outside tuk tuk drivers.

Aside of thread-jacking bickering ThaiVisa posters...

Have a look at Bang Saen. http://www.smilinginthailand.com/east-coast-provinces/chonburi/beaches/bang-saen.html

The "beach" has various forms along the 5km length, I prefer the promenade section. Can get a bit busy on holidays and event times.

Bang Saen is OK if you don't actually go in the water... Occasional trash dumps into the nearby Prachinburi (?) river can ruin you visit. We go there sometimes for the seafood, even though the main beach is getting to be a ripoff. (There are good seaside restaurants out of town.)  It is still best to go far enough from Bangkok to leave the pollution and the weekend crowd destinations behind.

  8. During the weekends Cha Am beach gets completely trashed by the local hordes from Bangkok. They clean by the morning, but it definitely is not what I would call 'pristine'. The one time we visited Hua Hin beach we just turned away. Trashed too. You need to go to resort beaches to find clean waterfront and even then there is trash floating in from elsewhere. Water is a bit murky too until you get further away from Bangkok. Best beaches within a days travel from Bangkok start south of Hua Hin (Like Sam Roi Yot beach) or similar distance to the east (past Sattahip).

Try a European search many interesting stories and believers. Khao Lak has many stories as well from locals and Europeans since the tsunami and none before. Your evil jenni is getting to you.

"European search"? I use the Google non-regional search everywhere I go. Not some 'American' search (other than Google itself being from there). It's just that any search about anything supernatural brings up mostly Americans. And pray tell what is "evil jenni"?

A higher percentage of adults believe in ghosts than children. Google it.

"A higher percentage of adults believe in ghosts than children" brings up a lot of results about Americans on Google. Are they the 'children' you are referring to?

In comparison, "A higher percentage of Christians believe in God than Atheists" on the other hand brings up some interesting stuff!

There is no where else in Thailand that I think of worse than Khao Lak with all the people that died there in the tsunami. One place in Thailand that for sure has ghosts. The true stories of the survivors are horrible as well.  No go. Thai people almost always won't holiday there.

    Are you twelve years old?

No. Twelve year olds as well as 80 year olds don't think of hundreds and hundreds of people all dying within minutes of each other in a small area a fun place to holiday.  I know many Scandinavians who never returned there as well because of the tsunami and many people think they are mature. Even Patong, Karon and Kamala had way less deaths and injuries because they are not backed up to cliffs like Khao Lak. It's really death beach.  No go.

The part highlighted is the one that grownups normally don't believe in. It may be spooky vacationing where you know hundreds of people perished, but ghosts...?

    Ghosts?! I can't even...

  13. Resurrecting an old thread here, as apparently I had given some 'dangerous' advice.

    Here's my old boiler setup explained;

I bought a [small] 30L boiler with advice from salesman not to set it full hot as this would deteriorate the insulation quite fast. Installed it at a location between kitchen and shower. Cranked it to max too see how hot it would get the water. After a few hours you could feel the outside of the tank was ever so slightly warmer than surrounding materials, and the the water coming out at the kitchen sink (closest tap) was 85C or so. Too hot in any case as I didn't want to invest in thermostatic valves and don't like burns. Then I set the thermostat to "E" (for 'Economy'?), ran the water until the heater light came on and went out again. Now below 50C. Not hot enough. A couple of small adjustments resulted in about 65C output (as I mentioned in the original post still quite hot) which, while hot enough for pots and pans, allows you to pull you hand away before getting scalded should you mistakenly stick your hand in the hot water. (This happens to me all the time. The wifey runs the hot water, turns off the tap without running a bit of cold water through, and the trap is set.) This happy medium lets her also take her long hot shower (steam bath?) first, but still leaves enough 'hot' water for myself.

Now as far as Legionella is concerned, that wasn't a consideration as virtually all water tanks in Thailand are in the temperature range to support bacterial growth, not just heated ones. The bacteria can be kept at bay with very low levels of continuous chlorination, but this is Thailand of course. Even though the water in our area is [occationally] treated, I chose to add bleach to my main water tank from time to time, just in case.

    Hope this helps. Cheers.

  14. Option 21: Buy an online train ticket on Malaysian State Railways from Hat Yai into Malaysia on www.ktmb.com.my for a minimum purchase of 200 MYR ($5). It is a legit onward ticket (unlike bus tickets that sometimes have a change of vehicle at border), and has worked for me for years.

200 MYR is not $5 but almost $47 (USD) (rate: 22/12/2015)

Oops. It's 20 Ringgit, about $4.7. A $47 dollar ticket wouldn't be exactly throwaway, would it...

  15. On my last rotation in LOS I bumped into a westerner I knew in the late '90s. Had come to Thailand on a fresh passport that had already expired at the time I knew him. 1,5, or 10 year pp, I don't know. Met a girl and wanted to marry. Couldn't. Hilltribe. Moved to the village and didn't even send his passport out for a [back then] 90 day stamp "border run" for 700 baht. He ended up being a key witness in a case against his friend and turned himself in to testify. He was simply taken to a distant station with no intention to even register him until the case was over. I used take him proper food, toiletries, beer and such. All very relaxed then. He was still in when I left for work. All I heard later was that he was deported.

Now about a month ago when I asked him how long was he gone, the answer was "Never left". His new family arranged him to go free with an understanding not to try to testify. I asked if he still did his "visa runs" and he said he still "flew out" regularly. So it seems there are those out there living quietly [and illegally] out there.

For the Snitch Squad, I hope the details were sufficiently muddled, he naturally can't and doesn't live in the hilltribe village any more, I claim to have no proof of any wrongdoing by the BiB, and I only remember his given name, Alfa Zulu (no reference to Alfas or Zulus intended). I gave my number, didn't ask for his. Hopefully he will call one day. Great guy.

  16. Good post, yacobm8. Disregard the crap like the post below. There's a lot of people who benefit from tips and accounts on how to live cheap in Thailand. And there are always a few disbelievers that post negative because they could not do it themselves or can't manage their finances. I've managed on a tight budget in Thailand before and it's certainly possible to do, especially with some local help. Cheers.
