  1. Bali and Lombok are great islands. And I have to say I like these kind of countries with honest people much more. Sure they don't like around like they had a stroke (Thai smile) but if they smile it's most time more real than in Thailand. Thailand should build a large wall around them. They have enough with them self and don't need any other people. Second North Korea.

  2. Just buy a new belt, . If money is so tight that you even need to repair a belt, you should consider going back to your home country.

Don't know how expensive the belt from him is but I own belts that has a price tag over 1500 euro and I would repair them as well.

If I have led you to believe that I think it is impossible to send out more than is brought out, then I miscommunicated.

I am guessing that there must be a way, and I would love step by step instructions.

My main concern is- I don't want to try something and wind up in a difficult situation with my bank and or the government.

    Stockholm-

    This I don't understand.

Perhaps you can say it differently?

Using a payment transfer service works very well. They have a local THB bank account and send over it directly to my UK account. Takes only 1 working day. As its for you a local transfer it doesn't matter how high the amount is and no one ask questions.

It's a financial service company based in the UK. They have a service called global local payment transfer. You have to setup a transaction with them very easy by email or phone. You tell them I have to transfer amount x from country a to b. Let's say from Thailand to the USA 500.000 THB. They will provide you a account number in Thailand where you have to send the money to. You send them the payment slip and they send the money directly to the USA account. As you do only a internal transfer in Thailand it's very essay for yourself. And they are dam fast as they have nearly everywhere local accounts so the money is in the USA in one day or sometimes at the same day. The fees are based on the country and the amount I think.

  4. Well I think a nice TIP can make a great restaurant service even better. Dining a lot in expensive restaurant and hotels like the Mandarin Oriental. When I like the people and the service I gave them some high tip like 1000 THB and they are very thankful. When you come the next time you get a very nice table, your wine glasses are much fuller than regular etc. Ok some times they are going a bit to far. Remember the times in the intercontinental club lounge. There you don't need to pay but I gave my regular 1000 THB tip to a woman working there. After this my whisky glass was full. Yes full :$ and she remember me every time I visit and get a bit extra service. Yes some can call me stupid or what ever. I see this as an investment. :)

  5. I do not know where you live but if you live in EU or US a non-copy brand name watch is probably cheaper there.

Maybe maybe not. For mass-market brands like timex, seiko, citizen, Casio, etc., which are available online and from places like target and Walmart this may be true. However, when you step up to more prestige brands like Tag, Oris, Omega, Rolex, etc., Thai prices are about the same or sometimes a bit less. I priced my Oris watch in Thailand and from the authorized dealers in the us and it was about 15% cheaper in Thailand (after taking into account everything like local sales taxes).
Well wouldn't name Oris a prestige brand also the prices of them a general lower than the other brands you name. Think the most expensive watch is around 4000-5000 Euro what is just an entry level for the other brands.

But for sure Rolex, Omega and real prestige brands like Lange & Söhne or Patek Philippe are much more expensive in Thailand than compared to Europe or US. Same like on other luxury stuff like Louis Vuitton

or even Ralph Lauren (very basic brand around the world) but dam expensive in the original store in BKK.

The point of my post was to let the op know he should not take it for granted that watches are cheaper "at home." If he knows what brand/model he wants he should price at home and in Thailand and then make his purchase. It's similar with Apple products...people assume they're cheaper at home but at least for me (USA) the price is a wash and I buy in Thailand.

It's a bit OT but I am interest to know which apple product is cheaper in TH compared to the U.S.A?

  7. Well to send about 10 MB should not a problem at all. It's true that email isn't designed for large attachments but wouldn't consider 10 MB as large, so basically I would switch to another email provider and stop using the SMTP from the buggy Thai providers. Try gmail or another third party SMTP and you will have no issues. For sure if you really send large attachments over 50 or 100 MB the Dropbox idea is good.

  8. It's illegal what ever say try to tell you. If you need the money do it and if they catch you take the penalty. But as long as you are doing it on low profile and only for one month the risk is low. Work as a freelancer from a coffee or from your hotel room. Avoid staying in there office. It's unlike but visits from the immigration could happening and than you are in real trouble.
