  2. Trang is easy to get around and organise a trip to the islands...just spent the long weekend at Koh Mook - high season and long weekend so it was PACKED - sometimes there were up to 10 people on the beach at the same time!!!

Where did you stay on the island ?

Do you go there via Pakmeng pier or Kuan Tunggu Pier ?

Can you give some tips about the island ?

  5. Hey David

We arriving in bangkok on 2 April and we want to fly on 3 April to Trang, i still waiting to book or flight on the nokair website , so far April is not possible only till the end of march.

I think we going to spend the first night(s) in Trang and talk to Yai or another agency or a TAT office to see wat best for us , we like to travel solo not in a group so maybe it is not a good idea to go with an agency.

If you pas Trang hotel please step inside and ask about te rates , thanks for offering.

    See you

  7. Hallo Moonhunteruk and Florin and of course anybody else

We visit Trang in december 2004 for a couple of hours when we where on the way to koh lanta (nighttrain from bangkok)

We are from Belgium and we were sorry that we have to leave Trang on such a short notice ( we booked at Koh Lanta)

We decides to visit Trang and the surrounding islands for 2 weeks in (begin)April so we really appraised any recommendation from you.

Our plan is to fly in with nok air and then spend a week ore 2 on the surrounding islands and a couple of days at Trang and the surroundings.

So please i you have any info that can help us let us now.

We are not young but also not old , we have 2 boys one 25 and one 22 so we can talk with older people and younger people.

We are a bit afraid to go back at the Andaman sea because we where in Kao Lak one week for the tsunami.

But anyway i have to come to the point when we want to visit the islands where do we start ?

First let me tell you we are living in Antwerp a very crowded town so we looking to relax one the islands , snorkeling or hiking or biking during day time and having a beer before go to sleep.

We hope you can point us in the right direction.

    Regards from Belgium

Were did you stay on Kai Bae Beach(resort) and did you find it a ok place , the pictures look nice and because we are going to be there during Songkran it is maybe wise to book in advance , so if you have the adres .....

    Regards

    Harry,

I know Chonburi, Ko Samet and Chantaburi extremely well. It's difficult to answer your question without knowing what you want to do in each place, do you want to stay and do you have your own transport?

The last time that I was on Ko Chang, I stayed in Kae Bae Beach Grand View Hotel. There were six of us and we had two huge adjoining rooms for 2,500 baht per night. Both rooms had two king sized beds, one room had a dining/lounge area and the other room had a small kitchen. There was no pool but the beach was only 100 metres away...albeit down a very steep entrance to the hotel. A few good bars and restaurants nearby also. The hotel had a good car park.

What we want to do is stay in each place for about 3 or 4 days walking the (quit)beach , rent a motorcycle to explore the area and have a beer in the evening , we go everywhere with public transport , starting in Bangkok , we dont need grand luxe , just clean bungalow with friendly people wil do

  12. Hallo

We want to go by train or bus from Bangkok to Chumpon.

Some people on a dutch forum told us we have to buy tickets at least 24 hours ahead.

The problem is we arriving in Bangkok in the afternoon and we want to leave for Chumpon next morning (friday) on the 07u45 morning train or the 9u00 a clock morning bus.

Does this mean we can not get a train or bus ticket in time because we do not have 24 hours?

Or is the above info about 24 hours in advance wrong ?

We prefer train because we are staying 1 metro stop from the main train station in the mandarin hotel on Rama IV .

In case we prefer the bus , how do we go to the bus station from the mandarin hotel ?

    Thanks

    Harry

  14. Hallo

We want to spend 3 nights on koh tao .

We looking for a middle class resort with good breakfast and reasonable (thai) food prices , not to crowded but still in reach for transportation .

We are looking for a nice area to stay , we like to snorkel so a beach not to far away with a coral reef would be nice.

We also want to go one a day trip with a moped , so suggestions on roads and nice places to visit are welcome .

    Thanks

    Harry

  15. From Southern bus station Sai Tai mai Chok Annan leaves at 09.00, arrives Chumpon market around 16.30, stop for free lunch under way, 276 baht.

Book in advance though, don't have phone number on hand...

They have an office on the far left corner at Sai tai mai (depending where you come from...) you can also buy ticket at booth inside bus station.

Train leaves from Hualampon indeed, you could catch the train at Sam sen or Bang Sue also, book in advance also. Train arrives 14.15 if on time, nice ride, airco and shitty food

No more Air Andaman since two years, plane no option...

Where can we buy tickets in advance , we flying in on 18/05 (morning) en we want to leave next morning , is one day in advance ok ?

Do you have any suggestions were to spend the night in chumpon and where we have to go to take the boat to koh tao?

    Thanks

    Harry
