Malaccas!
Cool. I don't know what you're on about, but keep it up.

Q: Is Malaysia Better than Thailand
A: No
Deep. Very Nietzschean. Meaningful. Hints of Plato. And a sly touch of Bertrand Russell, too.

The Cameron Highlands used to be nice, 30 years ago. Not any more.
Hey man -- why do you say that? I disagree.
Its the truth.
Sent from my XT910 using Thaivisa Connect App
OK -- but why?

While we want to leave this thread as much to the members as possible, bear in mind that forum rules always apply.

You'll get nothing from me but sincerity and logic.
And trolling!

Another bash at Thailand. Starting to get boring now.
I didn't get that. I thought the OP's main point was Pattaya should be a UNESCO world heritage site. I agree. Nothing even remotely like it in the rest of the world.
Outstanding!
I too agree!

This is the third thread like this in a week.
All lemmings please exit this way ---------->>>>>>>
Maybe the wrong guy is exiting. Maybe it's you who should "exit this way ---------->>>>>>>".
It's hard to have a decent forum when the most vocal are the most inconsequential.

some posters post because they have something to say;
Were you trying to say something ?
Dude: the sell by date has expired. Posting rights gone. You ain't fooling no one. Time to go.

The food in both joints is good. Just different. To suggest food in Thailand is only about greasy fried rice is laughable.
You ever eaten food on the streets of KL? The big difference between street food in KL and BKK is grease.
-
Hang in there, man.
You gotta accept that there's stuff that can't be discussed. It's not the forum's fault.
This is Thailand. You just gotta learn how to handle it.

Is Malaysia better than Thailand
Example one
Malaysia has UNESCO World Heritage sites such as Malacca.
Thailand has Pattaya.
Example two
Malaysia has the Petronas twin towers.
Thailand (Bangkok, actually) has the Elephant Building.
Example three
Malaysia is the gateway to Singapore.
Thailand is the gateway to Laos.
Example four
Malaysia has great Indian and Muslim food
Thailand has greasy fried rice.
Example five
Malaysia has the Cameron Higlands.
Thailand has Isaan.
Did I miss anything?

There really is no way to win with these "like/dislike," "green/red" rep point systems. The other major forum uses those but has, I noticed, added an option for each member to "opt-out" and disable rep points. Let's face it. Popular members, who spend lots of time on a forum, who are prolific posters across many threads, will get lots of both likes and dislikes. At the same time, some members post very useful material in one or two forums only here, and may never get noticed.
I like the idea of overall poster of the year forum-wide (probably the most prolific and popular poster), and at the same time, subforum poster of the year in each subforum.
I disagree. Mr Smokie is perhaps the most prolific poster. He's okay. He straight.
Other members -- ah, humbug, I can't remember their names -- write their posts in such a way as to accrue likes.
One needs to consider whether the poster is a true mariner or just a fair weather sailor.
Put another way: some posters post because they have something to say; others post simply because they want "likes". Herein lies the difference between the man who possesses self-confidence and self-esteem, and the man who doesn't.
As for that Big Johnny guy, all his posts were geared towards that ultimate (and never failing) cult-like revelation. It would appear that the days of "My Program" are now gone.
As for how long the HUMBUG troll persists, who knows.

Isn't it a shame that the photography threads are now closed!
Some of the later offerings by Mr KROBERT6 were superb!
I really hope Mr KROBERT6 continues to post. His work is excellent.
Will future photos our Chiang Rai be posted here or in the photography forum?

The ribbon-decorated bodhi trees
And all the ones bearing such an incredible variety of wonderful fruit.
Thanks Johnny!
This is of course a classic:

This one is beautiful:

And this .... where?
Thanks again, Johnny.

If you've traveled around Thailand for a bit, it's almost certain that you'll have come across some amazing trees.
Here are a few:
1. At the top of Doi Suthep in Chiang Mai is a "cluster" (is that the right word?) of Tasmanian Eucalyptus trees. Often shrouded in fog, these trees are majestic in the extreme.
2. The tallest teak tree in the world can be found at TON SAK YAI in Utharadit province. The word "Mai Sak" means teak (or teak wood); "Sak yai" means big teak tree. Google "TON SAK YAI" and you'll see some great examples of Thailand's few remaining giant teak trees.
3. That lovely Rain Tree (with those beautiful orange/red flowers) in the grounds of the American Ambassador's residence in Bangkok.
Any more?

IMO, long term relationships with tattoed women are to be avoided. Short time is A OK.
What about marriage General?
My wife has a small tattoo.
Should I divorce her before it becomes a long term marriage as well?
Only married less than 10 years.
That is ok?
I believe there is a vast differance between a girl who has a small discreet tatoo and the ladys who have them plastered up their arms and legs and all other places ,
I agree. A small number of Thai actresses and fashion models now have discrete tattoos on their shoulder blades. These tattoos usually have some sort of religious significance.
The tattoos to be wary of are those garish tramp stamps that shout "sex worker".
I just came across this link:
The URL contains THAIVISA. Is the link above part of this forum? I think it must be. (The privacy statement also links to thaivisa.com)
This is what the comment says about Thai girls with tattoos
If she has tattoos then she may not necessarily be a bargirl, but she worked in the pay for play industry in some fashion. Maybe she was a masseuse or fishbowl girl, served drinks in a bar or even worked as a freelancer, but she was connected in some way with bargirls if she has a tattoo.

And when I realized that most of them suffer from severely repressed emotions, extreme Napoleon-Syndrome, and have a poor education outside their conditioning of their place in the World, I found I had very little in common with them and did not enjoy their company.
Was this the reason you left your home country?
I think I know why YOU left your home country

I've got an HP 24inch.
It's perfect for everything. Not too pricey, either (maybe it was about 12000 Baht).
What is a 3D monitor?

I read this forum a couple of days ago. There was a debate about Thai women who have tattoos.
Some forum members are quite conservative. They feel that Thai women with tattoos are women who are best avoided.
Other forum members are of the opinion that today's "modern Thai woman" is more liberal. These forum members seem to believe that a "tramp stamp" is a sign of independence, self-expression and modernity.
What do you think?
-
Even though I never bought the French origin theory of f-rang, it's irrelevant. Modern Thais don't think f-rang means French.
No, they don't. These days, most Thais know nothing about the origins of the word. How about you?
http://maps.google.c...ved=0CAgQ_AUoAg
Look at the map. Note the word FERINGGI.
The location is almost exactly due east of Southern India / Ceylon. It was the first port of call for the Portuguese who came here in their quest to take control of the Malacca Straits.
Few Thais know the origins of the word farang or farangi or ferangi. So what?
How many farangs are acquainted with the history of Ayuthaya or Sukothai?
-
Maybe the people who are calling the foreigners "farangs" ARE uneducated, ignorant, racist, peasants?
They are not.
Nor (unlike you) are they idiots.

I would sincerely like to thank all of you that don't have a clue about this topic from respecting my request to refrain from posting.
In fact I'm gobsmacked, hope I haven't started a trend here, would greatly alter the whole dynamic of this forum. . .
Maybe the message is about a guy called Reverend Johnny who operates a bizarre cult called the Church of Isaan Edification. Maybe it discusses how Reverend Johnny gives cult members a little red book called My Program.
Perhaps the message also reiterates the well known fact that forum personalities have sell by dates. Perhaps it offers advice to those who have failed to understand (and adhere to) this simple truth.

FLOUNCE
Definition
When a member of an online community announces they are leaving, usually after a protracted disagreement with other members of the community.
------------------------------------
Your friend did NOT flounce. He had his posting rights removed. This is why he has come back as a troll (HUMBUGGED). Please try to show a little more honesty on this THAILAND expat forum. Try too to show some respect for those of us who live here.
