  1. Yes, the Tourists were poorly behaved, however the driver was hardly well placed in his position in a service based industry. It doesn't matter where the tourists wished to go, the its the van drivers job to follow their requests and instructions.

I work in the service industry, running a hotel. We do not work a lot with Chinese but the few we do get more often than not cause problems with their rude behavior towards staff, fellow guests, and each other. Any guest, regardless the nationality, who slaps one of my staff would find himself on the street so fast, his feet wouldn't touch the ground.

I agree with you if you expel a guest who hit a staff member. I would also fire the staff member if it turned out that the reason the guest was upset enough to do that is that the staff member would not provide the service requested and paid for by the guest if that service was part of his job.

Doesn't matter what the staff member did, the guest never has the right to commit common assault on them. The staff may sometimes miss something but they are not slaves and no one should think that getting whacked up-side the head is part of their job, no matter what. in fact the staff should have the right to sue their employer for not providing a safe working environment for them as a way to force a boycott on more rude, objectionable, nasty chinese tourists who do not know how to behave with other human beings, IMHOcoffee1.gif

  2. The outdated "criminal" defamation laws exist to assist the rich and powerful to control any that would get in their way. There is no protection for "whistleblowers" who report crimes or corruption. In fact more often than not they end up becoming criminalised as a result of their attempts to maintain their ethics and moral standards. The corrupt are enriched while being involved deeply in the corrupt thoughts and deeds that plague this country at every level of society, that is in fact woven deeply into the fabric of society on a day to day basis.

  3. The law was created before there was "LIKE" buttons, so the sensible thing would be to update the law to take into consideration changes in society and its behaviours, not use outdated laws to further reduce freedoms of individuals in society to think, express opinions and generally be human. Unfortunately "sensible" is not the day to day lexicon of the average thuggite.

  4. A friend here in CM was sued for defamation by the owner of his condo building even though all that was said about the owner was true.

The criminal defamation law relates to the damage caused by what is said, not necessarily if it is true or not. If you owed me 1 million and I complained to all and sundry that you are a schmuck for not paying me the 1 million you owed me, you could sue for defamation (criminal case) for the damage caused to your reputation and probably sue for much more than the 1 million you owed to me (if you have a good lawyer). Its a wonderful law left over to ensure that people with money can always put down people who don't by being able to sue them if they complain about anything. Keeps the Ants under control while the Locusts feed off the land. Just sayin'whistling.gif

  5. Pattaya can try all it likes to be a great resort location but it will always be a cesspit IMHO until it is truly cleaned up. They have been talking about cleaning it up since 1991 when I first moved here and it has only gotten worse. The foreign lawbreakers stories seemed designed to shine the light away from the reality of significant local crime but have backfired and now the media is really making Pattaya look worse and worse. As DCUTMAN says: Putting Lipstick on a pig means its just a pig with lipstick, no prettier or better, usually more garish and uglier. Hope they can figure it out one day.

  6. Cris you are lucky ..wonder why the others didnt chase you down if you crashed through a few of them scratching their bikes up and losing face.

    Not lucky just BS

You are certainly welcome to you opinion Bigplanebluey... but I really don't have time for BS, merely pointing out that this story about Thai becoming more and more bold in their violent ways is not unusual, but is becoming the norm...
