Actually baselining your testosterone level as suggested by Uncleeagle is a very good point to start. I reckon though you already know your levels.

I don't know your underlying condition so I will discuss this in general.

Your doctor not putting you on a TRT can be debated. In general GPs are reluctant to prescribe testosterone as it is an unknown territory. A urologist or a endocrinologist is the person you need.

A course of sustanon and clomid smells like a gym bro suggestion. The sustanon may give you a fix for your testosterone levels but it won't help with the sperm production. It definitely will worsen the testicular atrophy. Clomid is a fertility drug but it has negative effects mainly because it increases the SHBG which is not good.

I would try Human Corionic Gonadotrophin aka HCG. It stimulates the function of the testicles, that is production of endogenous testosterone and therefore production of sperm, without the nasty side effects of clomid. Try a course of that alone for a month and then check your testosterone levels. If you feel you need extra testosterone you can start slowly as suggested by Uncleeagle.

  2. The 250 stands for 250mg of active component per ml. So if you withdraw 1 ml in your syringe an inject it, you get 250 mg in your system.

You do not specify who prescribed you 300 mg/week but for your goals it seems quite a lot to me.

I would start with 1 ml shot (250 mg) every 15 days and see.

Btw, sustanon does not cure UTI. It does not solve testicular atrophy either, it actually can make it worse.

If you can't find anything but still really want to live and work in Thailand (and are willing to pay 30% of your income), you could consider Iglu. I considered using them but ended up finding my own way -- and the 30% cut they take was way more than the tax I pay anyway. Their consultants were pretty helpful and informative when I reached out to them.

The main benefit that I recognized from them was the work permit and visa being sorted out for you + the networking opportunities they explained.

As far as I understand, you have got to have your set of customers or an employer already. They help with the paperwork but they don't actually bring work to you.

  4. I have been looking for a job in BKK for a while now. I have been doing that from Europe by answering job adverts on JobDB mostly, LinkedIn and other career sites. My applications are barely answered.

I am 50, employed in the IT industry, masters degree, always being employed.

I believe that the job market is more lively in Asia than in Europe and I think BKK is a sizable business hub. I know there are quotas of foreign workers that companies must respect, but I understand there is a big expat worker community in BKK. Nevertheless, so far my attempts have been unsuccessful. I am trying to understand the reasons.

I believe the main disadvantage in respect of other applicants is that I am not already living in Bangkok, despite the fact that, these days, preliminary interviews can be done through a video chat. Plus, an expat already on the ground needs a work permit from the hiring company, anyway.

Of course, I do believe my skills fit the requirements of the jobs I apply for.

Now, I am wondering whether it is realistic to think I can eventually find a job. I would appreciate any suggestions from people who live and work in Bangkok, as well as tips on routes I haven’t yet explored.

Have you tried the hospitals for a podiatrist?

Uhmmm....no. In BKK there are a couple of salons that do it as a standard pedicure service. 350-400 Baht done and dusted like an haircut or a shave. I think it is more a salon thing since there are no ingrown or infection....

Have you been to a podiatrist for a pedicure?

  6. I am looking for a solid professional pedicure. Where you get your hard cuticles removed and the nails are shaped, especially on the big toes. The surface of the nails cleaned and polished and all the rest. I would like to avoid that nonsense of foot SPA with all the massages etc if possible. I need just a proper toe nail job. If it is just clipping and filing the nails, I can do it myself...

  7. A few months ago, the staff changed in the spaghetti booth at the top of soi Diana (at the intersection with soi Buakhao).

I have heard that the ladyboy who used to work there, works in another spaghetti booth in the same area. Can anyone tell me where this new booth is? I understand it should be in soi buakhao-soi diana-soi LK metro perimeter. The taste of the spaghetti is not as good as it used to be. Maybe the skills have not been handed over properly. I would like to try the new shop...

More or less any taxi driver would be angry with and perhaps threaten a customer who refused to pay them the full fare on the meter. Sounds like you are entirely at fault in this situation, for presenting unclear directions, and then failing to pay attention once inside soi 56 (which was obviously the only part of your instruction the driver understood clearly). Soi 56 is a dead end and a fraction of the length of the 4 mile Sukhumvit section from Asok to the top of the soi. If you spoke basic Thai you'd easily have been able to remedy this situation, ask him to stop or go back (which he had to do anyway to get out of the soi). The fact that he wanted you out of the cab at that point suggests you were agitated and raising your voice at him, and trying to then underpay when you couldn't clearly identify where you wanted him to stop was a very unwise thing to do.

Never during the whole scene did I raise my voice nor did I respond to his gesture of slapping me. I was fuming yes, but I did let it show.

I am polite and treat everyone with respect. Clearly this doesn't pay off all the time. The only person who raised his voice and his hand was him.

I wouldn't have posted my frustration if I had been a complete b@$#rd with the taxi driver in the first place.

Do I speak basic Thai? No, you are right.

Did I give him unclear directions? Possibly, but who is the local taxi driver and who is the paying customer? If I had seen the turn inside soi 56. I would have told him to stop or turn around, basic Thai or not. The lay out of soi 56, as you describe, is even more aggravating as he didn't even try to go back that little distance. He just wanted to take the money he didn't deserve and get rid of the dead load in his taxi. Underpaying him was my little revenge...

In agreement with all the others who replied to my post, it is not worth getting hurt over pennies. I think I am not at fault though...

Think OPs problem is due to the food he is scoffing down before he finishes off the meal with a glass of water!

Has he considered the food 'at home' might not be so spicy as he is eating here, or he might be eating too much as he is enjoying his holiday meals?

LOL...I do enjoy my holiday meal, indeed.

Nevertheless, I never eat spicy food. I really can't stomach it. I have learned very fast the words "mai pet"...

Now, you might comment that I am missing out on food experience...this could be the topic of another thread....

Possibly you are getting hotter here in Thailand, sweating more, and then you get some water and throw it down your throat?

Far better to take small amounts at a time, also gulping down water might cause acid reflux issues?

Definitely sweating more. In my case though it is not a matter of how much water I drink. As I mentioned, just one sip of the water from Foodland and my stomach is on fire....

  11. I have tried a few thai bottled water and all of them give me heartburn.
Back home I do not suffer of any excessive gastric acidity nor reflux (if I do not go to bed straight after a meal).
The worse water is probably the one served at Foodland. They pour it from a jug but I know it comes from a big bottle, can't remember the brand. Just a sip of that and my stomach goes on fire.

Have you had the same experience and have you got a brand to recommend?
Can this be caused by chemicals dissolved in the water to sterilise it?

I am safe with Evian, but being imported it is very expensive.

Just get the Grab app on your phone and be done with them. You can set your exact pickup and dropoff location in advance and you agree to the fare in advance so there is no dispute.

Do you need to attach your credit card details like with Uber or do you settle with cash?

When you reached the 3rd sub soi why did you not tell him to turn ?...

Why didn't you you just tell him to turn when you were at the sub-soi?

It was dark and I could not figure out exactly how many turns we passed. Being the taxi driver, I thought he knew...

He probably didn't understand that we needed the third turn....I thought the term ''yak'' was a commonly understood by Thais....

So what happened when you reported his badge number to the DLT?

You did do that, didnt you? And you did get his badge number, didnt you?

Ermm....I did not know I had that option...

I reckon the badge number is shown on the dashboard together with his picture, right?

But then, how do I get in touch with the DLT?

Muscle factory looks great from the pictures I see.

Virgin Active in EMQuartier is good, but on the expensive side. 800b/day, but if it's just for a few days, maybe it's ok? Includes towels and even gym clothes if you don't have your own.

Yeah, the gym looks posh and attracts those who like posh gyms, but they have squat racks, you can deadlift, and they even have a separate olympic weightlifting square.

Muscle factory is really good and since my last visit they have built new rack stations for squat and olympic weightlifting. As I mentioned, the only problem is that there is no air con. I can see that doesn't bother the other people in the gym, most probably because they are used to the heat.  If you are not though you come out of there soaked and drained.

The Virgin Active gym is worth a visit though if you say that they have squat racks and free weights. They don't mention a day pass in their website. It is possible that they charge you also with an "activation fee" on top. We'll see. If it becomes too silly I will swallow the bitter pill and suffer at the Muscle factory.....

  16. I will be in Bangkok for a few days in September. Since the True Fitness gym in Asoke closed, I have been looking for an alternative (free weights and machines, no cardio nor classes).

So far I have tried the Muscle Factory in soi 56. The gym is absolutely great and prices are correct too. The only issue is the lack of air conditioning. Training a few sessions without your body being adjusted to the weather feels like a punishment.

I would like to know if there are other choices. I have heard there is a Fitness First in Terminal 21. Reviews are bad though....

  17. I was at Foodland on Pattaya Klang the other night. Opposite the supermarket there is a small open air Thai food court. The stall selling shakes caught my eye. I had a watermelon shake. It was one of the worst I ever had.

While waiting for it, I was a bit surprised by how laborious was the cutting of the pieces of the watermelon to put in the mixy. By the taste, I think that the lady didn’t leave out the white part of the pulp close to the skin, which doesn’t taste good and is hard to digest. I could not manage to go through half of it.

    Just to let you know...

For the ones that might come back and ask: ”what do you expect from a 40 baht shake?” ... well I would answer: “I would expect not to throw 40 baht in the bin”.....
